Anyone watching the new series of Silent Witness ie started 2 January 2023 BBC1

Just asking as I started watching thinking back to the early days, and within minutes found the new version so ridiculous, nearly burst out laughing.

Or maybe it is just me stuck in the past.

It's called silent shitness in our household now. We watch to take the piss and laugh. Absolute nonsense these days!

What a load of shit that was. So hard to follow and when I did the storyline was just stupid.

Terrible writing. Awful plot lines and just ridiculous all round really.

She'd have the worst PTSD ever if even a third of stuff depicted over the years actually happened

This drama has been going since 1996 and was brilliant when Amanda Burton was the lead. It was one of my favourite tv programmes. She left after 8 series and was replaced by Emilia Fox. I stopped watching it about 10 years ago when Leo and Harry left. It's been pretty poor ever since.

I agree with a lot of the criticisms above but, as a long time SW fan, will carry on watching!

She makes me laugh so much when she's trying to be angry.

And there is zero chemistry between her and Jack.

Just watched first two episodes and not a scooby doo what's going on.

I love SW but even I thought the opening two episodes were a bit silly! Hopefully next week’s will be a bit less far fetched!

I feel like it jumped the shark a long long time ago. I think it worked well as self contained two parters focusing mainly on the case. The last one, where it was more of a mini series focusing on the characters themselves didn’t work nearly as well.

It’s ‘Violent Shitness’ in ours, still watch it though.

The acting seems to have got worse this series. Emilia Fox, never a BAFTA winner, is now embarrassingly bad. Why is that?! It was Acorn Antiques level when she was stomping around the situation room last night, in the zig-zag jumper.

Did anyone watch the recent 2022 Royal Institute Christmas Lectures
It's all about forensic science and included how crimes can be solved through forensic evidence. Nikki was one of the guests (managed to avoid being kidnapped though)

I admire your optimism! It's been getting worse and worse the more focus there is on Nikki. Her (over) acting last night was hilarious. DH and I were in fits of giggles shouting "shitness!!" at the tellybox

I have to agree, we started watching from Series 1 last year, from when Amanda Burton was in it. It was excellent, forgot how good the early stuff was. We stopped watching when Harry left too, as the storylines were getting too ridiculous for words (think that was about series 15?). Nikki got very irritating with always putting herself into stupid situations.

I thought it was just me being thick! I struggled to make sense of it. The acting is terrible. What a complete waste of time.

I've got through episode 1 and will see what number 2 brings.

Anyone else hate the music? I always fast forward through it as it sets my teeth on edge.

Just watched the first 2 episodes in the latest series, ffs, why does it always have to be personal??!!
You can tell Emilia Fox is an executive producer as the story lines are awful and always involve her getting intertwined somehow, How does she get away with it? Does no one check the script and say 'Nah, thats shit Emilia'

Why do Nikki and Jack never actually kiss??? They look at each other and lean in close. Is there bad breath? Are they secretly related in real life?

They chemistry is laughable but the odd kiss would add to the believability.

Jack's house was ridiculously expensive!

Well its worth watching just for the comments after.

I know its not nice to make comments about people's bodies but Jack looks like he is pregnant. Or are we meant to believe it is all muscle? There was some comment from someone in the episode last week about him being a fighter.

And agree there is zero chemestry between him and Nikki.
