BBC 2 at 9pm, just in case anyone didn't realise 🙂

Best thing on telly over Christmas. Plenty of standing jokes (not laboured), “Sheila, you’re breaking my heart” 👏👏👏, Russell looking younger and fitter and then we knew why 😂😂😂 Loved it, and Mackenzie Crook should be legally obliged to make more.

DuncanBiscuits · 26/12/2022 22:41

Mackenzie Crook is a quiet little bloody genius. I love everything he does.

impossiblerequest · 26/12/2022 22:43

I really enjoyed it. I’d love to see more episodes.

UrsulaPandress · 26/12/2022 22:44

Adored it.

Perfect.

Buttercream22 · 26/12/2022 22:56

I loved it!!! I really hope they make more.

CoffeeBoy · 26/12/2022 23:01

Really hope they do another series.

CaveMum · 26/12/2022 23:04

Loved it, as always!

ProfYaffle · 26/12/2022 23:07

I loved how they incorporated the real life demolition of the scout hut into the storyline. I just hope that means they're setting the scene for a new series in the new hut.

BigMandysBookClub · 26/12/2022 23:08

I really enjoyed it. Something about this show just helps me drift away for a bit to a warm summery place. It has a nice familiarity about it.

Would love another series too. There is a real appetite for this kind of light comedy-drama at the moment. I think people are bored of troubled cops and weird acronyms. Just want to escape to somewhere a bit nice.

It was sad about the cottage. Perhaps budget issues 😂

senua · 26/12/2022 23:09

But clever, and left wide open for more...
How!?Shock How on earth (see what I did there) do you 'top' the Holy Grail.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 26/12/2022 23:14

I felt as though I’d missed a season, and it all felt a bit rushed.

Ark of the covenant?

ProfYaffle · 26/12/2022 23:27

"It was sad about the cottage. Perhaps budget issues" I read on a fan forum that the cottage burned down in real life and the people who owned it didn't have the funds to re-build.

WarningToTheCurious · 26/12/2022 23:37

I always find it a gentle and slightly bittersweet comedy.

And I’m left wondering where Stan found his art materials.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 26/12/2022 23:48

Saturday club at the scout hut.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/12/2022 00:14

Still perfect.

RobertsRadio · 27/12/2022 00:43

It was wonderful. Loved the appearance of Simon and Garfunkel in their limousine. Found the scene where Rachel Stirling as Becky talked about her mother's death and dealing with her estate very moving as of course her Mum, Diana Rigg died in 2020; I wondered if those tears were real.

I would love it if they did another series, but sadly that doesn't seem to be on the cards. For me the this tv series is and always will be utter perfection and total joy.

Workerbeep · 27/12/2022 06:33

Really enjoyed it.

does anyone know why lance, Andy and prof Alice roberts all touched the nose on the door of the British Museum? I’ve tried googling but no luck.

crossstitchingnana · 27/12/2022 07:00

This is a comedy? Never see it before and thought it was really dull.

Well you wouldn’t get it if you just watched the one episode. I

The cottage burnt down in real life and Becky's mother both the character and in real life (Diana Rigg) died in real life.

Said real life too much there.

You need to watch from the beginning to understand the characters. Also it's very subtle and you either get it or you don't.

Clawdy · 27/12/2022 08:06

At the end I'm assuming Lance will spot the hidden pot?

Saucery · 27/12/2022 08:26

Anything that throws the Holy Grail in is in danger of overreaching itself tbh, but the rest of it was lovely.
Lance has always had a tendency to be a bit Gollum about his permissions, so that fit well. It’s been made clear how difficult he is to live with, so Toni going back to her houseboat wasn’t much of a surprise.
I liked the way Becky finally put her foot down about Andy wasting his training as an archaeologist. He’s too scared of failing to truly find his gold at the moment.
TerraFirma being wealthy enough to afford a chauffeured Range Rover and an assistant to do the digging for them nearly jumped the (dirt ) shark, but then again, they were pretty arrogant, so maybe that fits. Craig the assistant being tough enough to swallow a whole glass of Sheila’s lemonade was funny.

Lance heard ghostly noises before he found the aestel; he heard ghostly noises before they found the HG and the gold fragment. It is meant to be.
He will notice when he comes to clear Stan's thing away at the end of the allotted three weeks.Smile

Is there any significance to the date? I can't see it; it's not Ascension or Pentecost or one of those such dates.
