Myself, dh and our son 17 have had a family tradition oner the last few years of watching a couple of episodes of a US sitcom a couple of nights a week. Dh and I hadn't watched any of the series at the times they were broadcast so it's all off Netflix.

We've loved :

The Big Bang Theory
Friends
Joey
Community
Arrested Development
Superstore
Brooklyn 99
Parks and Rec
The Office (US)

We know seem to have come to a dead end. We tried the new show, Blockbuster but it wasn't much cop so we gave up. We tried a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother but we haven't really enjoyed that either. Surely there must be more series still to watch with the same sense of humour as all of the above?

TIA

Modern Family
Malcolm in the Middle
The Good Place

I don't think Brooklyn 99 has been mentioned yet.

AinmÁlainn · 11/12/2022 08:51

Sorry, it was, on your OP Blush

The Good Place is brilliant. I'm not sure it's on Netflix though.

Young sheldon is much better than I expected but my favourite is The Middle

Modern Family- hilarious!

gettingolderbutcooler · 11/12/2022 09:39

Blackish!

ginislife · 11/12/2022 10:34

Married with Children !! Hilarious.

Another vote for Schitt’s Creek. So good!

ShouldersBackandTitsOut · 11/12/2022 13:17

Schitts Creek. But you need to keep going when you think you're not into it, I promise it's worth it.

PriamFarrl · 11/12/2022 13:21

It’s had one mention but I’ll say it again, Kim’s Convenience. It’s Canadian but the feel is the same. It’s about a Korean family who run a corner shop. Very funny.

We loved Schitts Creek. Although it was a slow burner. I didn't get the hype during the first couple of episodes but I'm so glad I carried on. It's one of the best comedies I've ever watched!

Absolutely loved Schitts Creek I think I need to watch it again

Married with Children !! Hilarious.

We watched this with the dc when they were little. The wife’s maiden name was Wanker I’m sure! Great theme tune.

I watch with teen dd:
superstore
blackish
Fresh off the Boat
modern family

have also liked
The Good Place
Malcolm in the middle
Ugly Betty
Golden Girls!

never really liked new girl or how I met your mother

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 11/12/2022 13:34

Modern Family is excellent and will keep you coming back for more. Blackish is also very good.

FearofQueefing · 11/12/2022 13:41

The Good Place is cracking...

NewToWoo · 11/12/2022 14:25

I agree about some of the classics:
Third rock From the sun
Frazier

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is brilliant

My DC (late teens) also love It's always sunny in Philadelphia (not seen it myself)
And lots of people rate Schitt's Creek but say you have to stick with it for a few episodes.

There's also a UK comedy set in Hollywood and starring Matt Le Blanc called Episodes - about UK writers in Hollywood

duc748 · 11/12/2022 14:34

I liked Episodes a lot, but it didn't seem to get much love.

JuneOsborne · 11/12/2022 14:39

Try Kim's convenience, it's very funny! Watched most of it with my 17yo and he was into it with us.
