Myself, dh and our son 17 have had a family tradition oner the last few years of watching a couple of episodes of a US sitcom a couple of nights a week. Dh and I hadn't watched any of the series at the times they were broadcast so it's all off Netflix.

We've loved :

The Big Bang Theory
Friends
Joey
Community
Arrested Development
Superstore
Brooklyn 99
Parks and Rec
The Office (US)

We know seem to have come to a dead end. We tried the new show, Blockbuster but it wasn't much cop so we gave up. We tried a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother but we haven't really enjoyed that either. Surely there must be more series still to watch with the same sense of humour as all of the above?

TIA

Two and a half men

Tallpaulwho · 08/12/2022 11:30

Malcolm in the Middle with the great Brian Cranston.

Still the best US sitcom IMO.

It was on All 4 a while back, not sure if it's still on there though.

UrsulaPandress · 08/12/2022 11:34

Frasier and Mash are out go to when there’s nothing else on.

I binged watched Schitt’s Creek during first lockdown and loved it.

Oh, yes! Agree with this!

Community and Parks and Recreation , may have been mentioned also not sure if age appropriate or not

Namechanger355 · 08/12/2022 11:37

Modern family all the way

really feel good, laugh out hilarious and ten whole seasons - watched it twice through

Summerof22 · 08/12/2022 13:22

@Bbq1 , do you have Now TV?

not a comedy but Friday Night Lights is one of my favourite shows of all time. Your son would love it.

I promise you don’t have to like/know anything about American football to enjoy the show.

Summerof22 · 08/12/2022 13:24

@Bbq1 oh, and for comedy, first season of Master of None (Netflix)sorry if it’s been mentioned upthread

Hawdyerwheesht · 08/12/2022 13:25

The good place

ChocolateBauble · 08/12/2022 13:27

Ghosts (US) is good and much better than the UK version.

Autumnnewname · 08/12/2022 16:01

I plan to rewatch all of Seinfeld when I get time. We still sing George's answering machine song

Schitts creek as others have said. Takes a while to get hooked but my god I felt lost when I finished all series

Scrubs
Schitts creek

It's not strictly US but it is brilliant - Ted Lasso.

Dartmoorcheffy · 08/12/2022 16:15

I thought Emily in Paris is quite a good series to watch for light hearted easy watching.

summerbumz · 08/12/2022 16:46

the good place

GreenwichVillage83 · 08/12/2022 22:14

Does frasier count as goofy? Definitely watch this. It's arguably the best sitcom ever made. The acting is comedy genius.

Also, Ally McBeal?

duc748 · 09/12/2022 14:54

Any love for Better Things?

Timepasse · 09/12/2022 15:48

Cougar Town

Soulcurry · 11/12/2022 07:53

Malcolm in the middle is a great family show, Bryan Cranston is a treat to watch . The whole season is on Disney

TheBitterBoy · 11/12/2022 08:03

We have watched all of your list and enjoyed them. I would second the suggestion of The Middle of you can find it. Our favourites to research have been Scrubs and My Name is Earl, which I think may be on Disney

TheBitterBoy · 11/12/2022 08:04

Re-watch , not research

FaintlyMacabre · 11/12/2022 08:08

Great News - sadly it got cancelled way too soon so there’s not many episodes.
The good place.
Both on Netflix.

Jewelanemone · 11/12/2022 08:18

An old one, but Reno 911. We've watched it loads of times!

Kalasbyxor · 11/12/2022 08:30

Is That 70s Show still on Netflix?

My family love Modern Family, but I find it too intense on the stereotypes.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 11/12/2022 08:38

Schitts creek and superstore
