Jay actually looked like a man who hadn't slept , clearly hadn't shaved , in days !
I think Ben gets back in time too , but not sure

So sad but really nicely done

CraneBoysMysteries · 31/05/2023 07:52

I'm watching it now with a big box of tissues at the ready...

CraneBoysMysteries · 31/05/2023 08:26

Oh my god that was ducking beautiful and so tragic

Very well done. I am in absolute pieces now

Iwantacampervan · 31/05/2023 08:58

I'm not sure that I should have watched that this morning as I need the tissues - I've got to go out later to work. It was well done, so sad.

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 10:02

I read on Facebook it's been done really well today , I will watch it later on.
Couple of sad weeks coming up with the funeral too :(

I can't fault today's episode and I especially liked it was focused only on her.

I don't know if this has been discussed already but has anyone heard about Max Bowden who plays Ben - Ben has left abruptly so is the actor ill or something? It seems weird and the story about Ben looking for treatment for Lola doesn't really ring true.

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 10:47

I've been crying buckets here
The fox at the end ;(
So beautifully done. Well done to all the cast

@Southeastdweller I read somewhere (maybe on this thread 😆) that Max Boden's friend passed away from something similar and he asked not to be present for the scenes where Lola dies as he would find it too traumatic so they wrote the story about him leaving

No idea if true 🤷🏻‍♀️

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 11:18

People ( like me) cry because we become invested in the characters. Lola has been in the show for years , we've seen her develop and we think we ' know ' them.
Usually the deaths are off screen or big dramatic story lines , so this is a bit different, more peaceful and realistic I suppose. The waiting for someone to pass away , it can feel like forever at times as beautifully illustrated today. You still cling on to the idea they might be alright after all :(
I hope that Max Bowden is ok as I read about his friend and these things do bring it all back
I felt they did a lot of research into the whole subject too( for a change)
It was very well done today.

I agree, we get emotional because we feel like we know the characters. It's one of the great things about soaps!

I'm the same, big box of tissues x

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 11:31

From day one she was feisty and outspoken ! A fox is a very good description of her character.
Phil was horrible to her over custody of Lexi too.
I found it right he went to see Sharon , they have a huge history together and both know all about death :(
They belong together really !

Almost wish I hadn't watched that. In pieces!

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 15:58

The human side of life amongst the death
' Billy's putting fish fingers and chips in '
It's just what it's like. People still have to eat
Life has to go on when it's so hard to think of the basics sometimes at times like this.
Whoever wrote these scripts did a really good job of capturing it all.

I really hope that when Steve McFadden dies or is written out of the soap he gets the biggest send off ! He really deserves it

Just watched tonight’s episode

needed a tissue

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 16:47

I think it's upset me because we've had a lot of bereavements last decade or so and it just brings it all back. Plus the character is too young to die , which I know happens to people, but makes it all even sadder for this particular storyline.

meow1989 · 31/05/2023 17:55

Gosh that was a lot - kept it together until the end then shed a tear. I thought it was very well done, so sad. I do hope they don't have everyone move on by next week and all forgotten though, there seems to be a tendancy for that to happen.

Yetisrus · 31/05/2023 19:26

Sadly Linda's mum returns tomorrow with a new family in tow so seems like that's going to be running alongside the aftermath of Lola's death. Think that could have waited a couple more weeks.

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 20:16

Maybe they have the new family coming to lighten up the episodes a bit now?
We have the funeral too to get through !!

What was the point of Patsy kensit.
I thought she would have been there at the end.

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2023 21:42

Not heard if PK will return or not

This new George character is a bit full on
The girls are like Ronnie and Roxy even the fact they used to live abroad too
I bet his trouble though..

OP posts:
Southeastdweller · 01/06/2023 12:13

George is very intriguing - I wonder who he was on the phone to? Colin Salmon ( a real East Ender) looks great, younger than 61.

Mrsjayy · 01/06/2023 12:15

Oo I've not seen but I love Colin salmon he is very handsome 😍
