Maybe he's afraid of going loco? (sorry)

I think he just wants the boat trophy!

it’s looking as if Rafa will be the no 1 seed at the AO which seems a bit weird - my views on his chances of winning (or getting very far at all) are quite pessimistic but hopefully he’ll prove me wrong (like last year!)

This post gave me a good laugh. Could have been worse, she could have said Djokovic Grin

That is funny Jane.

Fizzy I feel the same about Rafa- I suppose the seeding is set early- in theory Ruud could overtake him this week, rankings wise, in Auckland.

But Rafa has not played well of late- and Djok will be out to prove a point.
I still think second week will be a result for Rafa.

JaneJeffer · 09/01/2023 15:10

Where is the AO being shown?

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 09/01/2023 15:18

I think it’s Eurosport Jane - I prefer Prime as they show all of the matches (I know I complained about it when they first had the tennis but it’s improved a lot)

Break Point is also on Netflix from 13 Jan - that’s the tennis programme not the Patrick Swayze & Keanu film!

JaneJeffer · 09/01/2023 15:23

We've been spoiled with getting to watch any match we want. Going back to putting up with someone else's choice is hard!

It is frustrating that Prime will no longer be showing stuff after this year- and Eurosport coverage is a bit hit and miss, imo. I really missed the ITV coverage at RG, it seemed a bit better, though still limited in what you could watch.

Eurosport has a habit of switching to skiing on Eurosport 2 - if the matches are running into the early hours - unless it's a match featuring a player they like. And that usually means it's someone I don't Grin

In (sort of connected) news- I saw a picture of the newplan to for the Lenglen court roof- ready for the Paris Olympics. I really hope they sort out the issues of the night matches at RG- because having 2 courts with a roof means they will be tempted to to do even more daft late starts- which didn't go down well last year at all.

As I am a sad person, with no life, I thought I would share the fact i got a question right on Only Connect- it was a sequence of sponsors of Queen's Club- going back to Stella Artois (got it at the first clue <preens>).

need a hobby

Well done Raahh what a random question though!

Well done Raahh what a random question though!

Ignore me if this already appeared. MN is gone wonky!

Ha ha I got that one as well Raahh - the only one that I did get right (apart from some of the missing vowels) Grin

Just seen a clip of someone on security at what looks like a tennis venue asking Rafa who he was before letting him in and then looking mortified when he answered Blush Grin

Fizzywinegum · 09/01/2023 21:04

Only Connect is very random Jane - sometimes I think they’re just taking the pee!

ChessieFL · 10/01/2023 07:59

I got the tennis connection but didn’t get the actual answer. I love Only Connect although I don’t often get any answers right!

Raahh · 10/01/2023 08:15

GrinOnly Connect is very often one of the highlights of my week- which says a lot about me. Some weeks I can do really well- and get ooh, 2/3 questions right Grin. I am not too bad at the music question. It is a very random show though.

Poor Rafa- how can they not recognise him Grin

I am bracing myself for going out- it is so wet here-I hate the rain. I haven't dried out from yesterday.

Fizzywinegum · 10/01/2023 08:33

I’ve also got to go out in the pouring rain and to the dentist as well Sad - first time since before lockdown - it could be expensive!

Raahh · 10/01/2023 08:56

Good luck *Fizzy - I have to take dd1 to an orthodontist appointmen in an hour. I am ignoring my own dentist appointments- I had a denture for a front tooth last year- and they will insist I need a new one. It really isn't necessary, there is nothing wrong with this one, but the dentist insisted it would need replacing every 6months. Sure it does mate. Hmm. I swear dentists and vets.Angry It's all about treatments they can get £££ for.
I've just had the dog at the vet over 6 weeks til Christmas, scanned again for something they keep insisting he has- and lo and behold- he doesn't. Loads of test s- 'just in case'. Turns out he has something treatable with a change in diet.
This 'amazing' vet, that is the only one that can do this type of ultra sound (that he didn't need/and never shows up anything)and costs a fortune. He must see me coming- and I think I pay for his holidays. Angry.

I am very bitter .Grin

Fizzywinegum · 10/01/2023 11:44

Thanks Raahh - I’ve got to go back on valentine’s Day to have two of my crumbling fillings replaced - I’ve told DH to hold off on the romantic treats that day Grin

It wasn’t quite as expensive as I thought it would be - glad I’ve not got a dog!

Raahh · 10/01/2023 12:01

Fizzy I am grateful for insurance (which is eyewatering in itself) but that will only go so far- so hopefully the dog won't need anything else doing before the insurance 'resets' in March!

Iam noe back from being a taxi, an trying to dry out. I hate rain.

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2023 12:39

I think my dog's vet has got the MRI version of "there's nothing to see here just give me some money"

Well done to you too for getting the answer Fizzy

Horrible rainy day here.

Jane* it's so annoying- I've usually taken him for something else,(in November it was a really bad skin reaction/allergy to something they still haven't got to the bottom of and he has bladder stones) and they always insist on checking for something else- and the daft thing last time was we were told it was the definitive test (result came back negative) - 'but just to be sure we can try two more things if you like!' .

Er, no.

kazzaD66 · 11/01/2023 13:06

Djok stopped his practice session today because he felt his hamstring pulling, so didn't want to aggrevate it. Why couldn't it have just pinged and be done with it, making it impossible for him to play next week?

JaneJeffer · 11/01/2023 13:10

He probably put that out there so the others think he's not on form and drop theirs. I don't trust him one bit.

Eurosport have Adelaide in the evenings but it wasn't live last night.
