I've not seen any tennis, our internet has been on the blink for the last 2 days (bloody Virgin- and it's like the wordl has ended in our our house ). It was my birthday yesterday, and ds's the day before, so it's all been one thing after another, this week. I'm not a birthday fan.

And then Rafa lost.
Anyway- hopefully he will start 2023 better.

we were supposed to be going round to some friends tonight but one of them has Covid so it was cancelled (quite relieved really - I’m not really a NYE fan)

I was awake for the third set of Rafa’s match but my befuddled brain couldn’t work out how to watch it - he seems to be carrying on from earlier when he wins the first set but then goes on to lose the match

Hope things improve in time for the AO - he looks happy anyway so that’s good!

Saw some of Dan's first match, when he lost from 5-0 up. Saw the last half hour of Swan yesterday morning, she played so well. Don't know if I'll be up in time for the remainder of the tie later this morning

Just been playing games here at Kazza Towers, with Jools in the background, but off to bed now. Ruud has already won his match today but I suppose he had an earlier night than me

I was also in bed by 10 .I felt a bit guilty, I think DD1 would have liked to have done something(her erstwhile 'best' friend friend let her down), and dd2 was trying to stay up to midnight- but I always struggle around my birthday/NY and get really low- however hard I try not to. I couldn't even pretend last night.
The girls finished school/6th form really early, so are back in a couple of days- I feel like the holidays have just flown.

And we still have no internet- can't get anyone to come out for a week and both dh and ds work from home(and back tomorrow) - so this is really not a good start to the year.

Rafa did look happy from what I saw, despite his less than great start. I think he's just happy to be playing. He is not happy with the constant retirement questions- but had a very good comeback.

I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up at 12.15

Saw the last set and a half of Dart. She was toe to toe with Badosa until the final set. Great match Dan vs Albert. Doubt Dan will play doubles now but wonder if Rafa still will?

Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer. Awful news. She says they’ve caught it early so fingers crossed treatment works for her.

So awful to read about Martina She's had a form of breast cancer before, horrible to be hit with throat cancer as well.

So very sad to read about Martina. Have always loved her. Saw her at Eastbourne in 2008 or 2009, on the practice courts. She was amazing & so lovely to all her fans
