I thought I might get to like Will, but I can't stand him. He even did that silly "look up to heaven" thing when he heard he was through to next week.

I suppose he's terrified to glance down now in case people think he's changed his mind about his father's destination.

It reminds me of the comment on Beethoven's (probably apocryphal) last words, "I shall hear in Heaven" which was:

"Optimistic on two counts".

FartOutLoudDay · 14/11/2022 17:29

Aaah, Facebook suggests it’s a year since Rose and Gio’s glorious couple’s choice, one of the few dances to ever make me cry. There’s such joy and effortlessness in their dancing and I think that’s what a lot of the couples are missing this year - Hamza hits that mark more often than not and Fleur certainly did on Saturday but it’s not consistent.

Ellmau · 14/11/2022 18:47

Week 1 I thought Molly might be a dark horse to win, but clearly people aren't warming to her.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 14/11/2022 19:56

I like Molly and Carlos, but have only voted for them once because there are always other couples whose dances I’ve enjoyed more. They may yet cling on all the way to the final; it’s a close run thing between the women (imo) and a pretty level playing field all round now Tony’s gone.

IReallyLikeCrows · 14/11/2022 21:30

I still have a soft spot for Will. Head to heaven was a bit OTT but by and large, I think he's more genuine than most give him credit for. I also think that he's done some decent dances throughout without being consistent. I loved the American smooth to Cry to me off of Dirty Dancing.

This year does feel a little meh on the whole. I LOVE Hamza and if he was voted off I'm not sure I'd have the motivation to care who won or to watch to see who won. I feel that it's been deteriorating just a tiny little bit each year with fewer stand out dances and too much faffing and sob stories coming out of its metaphorical bumhole.

I don't know what's happened to Tyler. He seemed to be a shoe in for the final in the first couple of weeks and for the last few weeks, it seems like he's dialling it in with no real interest in whether he stays or goes. I am really hoping he makes a comeback and leaves us all whooping with joy at a spectacular performance.

Fleur has a couple's choice this weekend to a Destiny's Child mix and I'm hoping she manages not to overdo it and wow us all.

ArcaneWireless · 14/11/2022 21:47

crows

I feel the same about Will. I do think though now that this competition is Hamza’s to lose.

His joy is an utter thing of beauty.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/11/2022 21:50

I've always liked Will. He reminds me of my uncle who is very similar in style, looks, the way he talks etc.
Just sort of like lad-dy but loves their mum type.

I commented on another thread that I longed for a pro dance that was just a beautiful classic waltz. Tonight it felt like they'd actually been listening to me!

I missed the start of Sunday’s show so I have only just managed a minute to catch it.

That was, without doubt, my favourite pro dance ever. I was stunned by the quiet beauty of it all.

I cried.

ellebelli · 15/11/2022 09:50

I enjoyed most of the dances on Saturday,Tyler and Tony's being the weakest so the correct two ended up where they should have.
Though Helen's was pretty odd-really lacked something and looked awkward.
It was the right time for Tony to go but I will miss him,he seems such a lovely bloke.
I really enjoyed mollies rumba but do feel like she will be leaving soon(not keen on Carlos)
I think if Tyler has any Latin left(I feel he has lots still to dance??)he will do well and sail through.
Tbh hamza is going to win and I think we all know it,and I am OK with that(mainly for jowita)

munchbunch12 · 15/11/2022 14:21

Blackpool's songs and dances are all out.

God strike me down but none of them are really floating my coracle.

Kym and Ellie maybe.

If I ever did strictly, no one would be picking my tunes.

xsquared · 15/11/2022 16:21

I think American Smooth will suit Ellie as she seems better at ballroom, so she might be safe.

Salsa should work well for Tyler.

Dance of death for Will.

Don't like Kym's music for Paso Doble.

Fleur should be amazing with her couple's choice.

Jive should be a show stopper dance so hopefully Mollly amd Carlos will pull out all the stops.

Hamza will be okay if he turns up. Ditto Helen I think.

SolInvictus · 15/11/2022 17:23

I think Ellie and Johannes will be beautiful if they keep it simple.
Kym will be good- more fabulous leg action. <wel-jel>
Fleur might be all uncontrollable and stompy again if she's not careful.
Tyler will be great at salsa.
Helen and Amy Winehouse sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. But if she's sorted whatever was up last weekend she'll be fine.

Going to be tough to call it all things being equal. It should be Ellie to go on paper but I think Johannes will do a stunningly simple and beautiful choreography and there'll be a lovely frock with arm hankies and we'll all cry with joy. <hopeful>

Alcemeg · 15/11/2022 17:39

FartOutLoudDay · 14/11/2022 09:59

It made me laugh because she said something about him always interrupting her and then he continued interjecting while she was talking 😁the right person went, Tyler really needs to up his game though - I’d picked him for final 3 after week 1 but he has gone totally off the boil, like he’s lost interest in it altogether.

To be honest, although I liked Tony, he got on my nerves the way he talks over Katya all the time. Presumably he's used to a world where the little ladies are just arm candy, not athletic genius maniacs leading the way.

I also find it weird how he plays this "I'm an ancient grandad" role when he's only 56!

FartOutLoudDay · 15/11/2022 17:42

I suppose he’s been “retired” for 20 years -
not sure his brief stints in management were much to write home about. So maybe he feels old!

Blackpool's songs and dances are all out.

CILLA BLACK!

Oh, God - NO!

She sings like a cat trapped in a tin bucket!

I've never understood her popularity.

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2022 18:24

It’s ok. I don’t think Cilla won’t be singing it mosh

I can see it already!

Lovely frock! . . <weeps>

Arm hankies! . . . <weeps copiously>

Oh, God - it's so beautiful!

<also hopeful>

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2022 18:26

Vickygiggles I will personally insert an auld tap shoe if there are no arm hankies and a DIVINE floaty frock for Ellie.

Emotionalsupportviper · 15/11/2022 18:26

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2022 18:24

<dabs sweat from brow with Mr mosh's hanky>

<relieved>

I know she's dead, but I was worried they'd got a recording . . .

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2022 18:27

I should clarify. I won’t be inserting it in me….

Ellie and lovely frock don't go together. Any more than Fleur and good music. Ellie's pins will be covered up with some kind of Amish get up. I am afraid for Fleur with Beyonce again.

Also who does a paso to Rihanna?

Ellmau · 15/11/2022 18:50

I think Ellie and Johannes will be beautiful if they keep it simple.

I don't think simple and understated is really Johannes' forte.

Aye, there is that. 😂
But I'm sure if we all wish hard enough one day he might.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 15/11/2022 21:39

I have high hopes for Fleur’s cc and think she’s learned her lesson re powering through some of her dances like a bull in a china shop. Can’t remember her exact words, but she said as much herself on ITT last night.
