Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

I have only been dipping in and out of the show but I just saw a clip where MH was stung by a scorpion and was clearly quite distressed about it and BG thought it was funny. That's a pretty nasty character flaw George.

I think he is very nasty, lazy and too posh to wash a few tatties, he seems very selfish and disruptive, always moaning and inciting others to turn against each orher and why do they tiptoe around him scared in case he kicks off.

It is fascinating from a people watching point of view so true to life how the bullly always calls the shots. George has folk simpering and skirting around desperately trying to impress him while the geeky socially awkward nerd, MH, has them all ganging up on him. All because he is a Tory and comitted the crime of being health minister in a pandemic and having an affair.

WinterLobelia · 15/11/2022 11:00

Yes that is true about people simpering around the bully. I say 'People always tiptoe around the most difficult person in the room'. Very much to the detriment of others.

Again I have only seen very little of MH but i am very much warming to him. I think many of the covid decisions were clearly catastrophic- but i cannot hand on heart say i would have done any better. We were in an unprecedented situation and a crisis situation. Heavens looking back it all seems so surreal. I have no doubt whatsoever I would have made the wrong decisions every which way when considered in retrospect.

HappyHamsters · 15/11/2022 11:00

I do wonder if Sean would be so in awe if he knew of BG past or if he was watching him from the outside and what is Charlene doing as Deputy, its a shame it was her as she so obviously dislikes MH and I havent seen her actually do anything to support him, maybe she will resign her role and let a team player like Jill, Owen or Sean take over.

HectorPlasm · 15/11/2022 11:02

BG is a vile sneery talentless has-been who gets away with it because of the queen bitch card

abigailsnan · 15/11/2022 11:07

BG so passively aggressive with all his comments about MH and so up his own backside with regard to name dropping of people he says he knows when he lived in LA he never owned a house in LA he must have rented or stayed with his agent,I thought you where banned from USA if you had criminal record or was this before he served jail time

No idea about L.A but he lived in New York for a while where he did 5 days community service sweeping the streets after making a false allegation that he was burgled and the police found stacks of coke in his flat.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/11/2022 11:20

I thought perhaps my chose his deputy as a way of keeping your enemies close

Readinginthesun · 15/11/2022 11:23

Must admit I am looking forward to seeing BG and CM doing the trial tonight . CM did NOT look happy !

HappyHamsters · 15/11/2022 11:33

Didnt he say earlier in the programme he was happy as it was with MH doing all the trials, interesting to see how they work as a team, I suspect Baba will be the natural leader and most effective in the task.

PinkTonic · 15/11/2022 12:56

I’m really looking forward to watching how they get on tonight. I hope it’s horrific. I haven’t watched it for years since my kids moved out, but the trials seem really hard. I couldn’t have been in that pool with the netting coming down and hardly able to get my nose and mouth above water, or buried underground like last night. We don’t know yet what their deepest fears are but I hope we find out.

HappyHamsters · 15/11/2022 14:31

Baba has a fear of heights but did really well in the frame climbing trial, no idea about BG or CM biggest fear , maybe being outdone by Matt?

Grin

I also don't understand those who critique them discharging when there was covid as to the risks but then also critique the lack of visitors (who could also take in covid).

It was a shitshow. The messaging wasn't clear which caused more issues - but that was on Johnson.

Personally I think Johnson's poor leadership caused most of the issues. An area I know we don't agree on - because he got vaccines!

I work in a care home. Can I let you into a secret? With our residents it was the relatives who were upset, the residents were fine. They truly coped with it all, even when we had an outbreak but fortunately no deaths, they just sailed through it. A truly remarkable group of people.

I haven't seen it all but I did see the episode with MH and BG doing the eating challenge. I noticed when BG was struggling MH was being sympathetic, when MH was struggling BG was laughing. Put me right off him, he really is nasty. I don't think this programme is doing much for his reputation.

Same here. We can all make better deciosions with the benefit of hindsight.

There's a question mark over whether they knew people had covid because of the asymptomatic carriers.

Don't get me wrong, I think the government and their handling and - well - just in general - are an absolute shitshow.

But I don't think think was a deliberate act of spreading as some believe.

It was a catastrophic mistake though.

Covid also wasn’t initially known to be an airborne virus. It was thought to be spread through touch, hence all of the hand sanitising, quarantining of post, wiping down shopping etc. I would imagine that it was thought that if care home residents did have covid, and if sanitising between residents was thorough enough that the virus wouldn’t spread.

itsgettingweird · 15/11/2022 20:33

Good point.

I'd forgotten all the happy birthday handwashing (somehow!)

HappyHamsters · 15/11/2022 20:53

Yes they thought it was spread by touch and many people couldnt understand later how an airborne virus could be spread by animals or bats in the wet market.

I saw a headline somewhere that hundreds of Conservatives and Lords in Westminster are voting for MH to do all the trials. How childish of them, criticising him for being in the show but them all having a good laugh at getting him to do the trials.

I'm no Conservative fan, thought MH was an idiot but I'm starting to think it would be nice if he won, put some contestants and some MPs in their place. I might even try to download the app. I haven't got a clue and if I ask GS I'll never live it down.

ancientgran · 15/11/2022 22:22

I haven't seen all of it, how did MH become camp leader?
