Series 8 was the one where Strictly started introducing props, fancy lighting schemes, silly costumes and theme weeks.

Sing, sing, sing was also the music used for Denise Lewis and Ian's QS back in series two. Except arm hankies instead of pom poms. She got her heel trapped in one of them but managed to sort it like a pro.

Aaaaah AJ, the strictly celeb who had it all - that fabulous dress with poofy arm poms poms and the swoony Kai in coat and tails 🥰

They are my favourite ever SCD pairing.
So gutted for them they didn’t get to dance in the series final.

I loved AJ. Apart from her Quickstep I loved her jive, Charleston and even her CC. Her showdance would have been epic.

Also, it looks like the set designers don’t liaise with the costume department (or if they do, they have very dubious taste) so together they clash, distract from the dance, or obscure, so you can’t see the dancers properly. Less is more!

Absolutely.
From the minute she came onto the stage and immediately went all out for it in that fierce and fabulous Week 1 jive to Gold Dust, I knew she was going to be star quality .
She just brought this amazing joie de vivre in every dance.

And who could forget her gorgeous mum Florence! She loved the whole Strictly experience, and was living it through AJ.

Totally agree their show dance would have been epic.

I was hoping they'd do it in the Strictly launch show but guess that might have taken the shine off Rose. Would love for them to be invited back to do it in the finals (like Nicola and Katya did) especially if it is male-heavy this year.
She would have reprised it on tour, had she not had to drop out due to her ankle.
Alternatively, do the choreo she learnt as a couple's choice with Kai in this year's Xmas special. Not sure what Xmassy song could replace Naughty Boy and Bey's Runnin' (lose it all) but bet I could find one! (the Strictly singers did a decent job of it tbf when Lauren contempowaffed to it but festive it ain't although AJ could probably recycle the silver frock).

I'm watching Horrible Histories videos with my children.

Hamza dancing to Jerusalema could just be the highlight of my entire life. Cant wait

The snippets of Hamza’s dance on ITT looked pretty good. It definitely looks like a joyful dance rather than a wafty one, and he said it was dedicated to Africa, his family and the natural world (or something like that), so at least it doesn’t sound like there will be blubbing.

I know it isn’t the time or the place but I’ve been watching Shurl on Unbreakable.

Simon and Lucy Weston were my absolute favourites. Denise and Lincoln too. The words he said about her. I was roaring.

But Shirley cracked her shell a wee bit and let us look at her inner yolk And I really think she’s a good egg deep down. I really do.

I've just been watching that too ArcaneWireless, and agree, i saw Shurl in a different light (couldnt believe the tatoo!).. quite like her now!

Is AJ going to get the chance to come back and do the show dance do we think? I'd love it if she could.

I do like Shirley jellykat, but the things she says sometimes I think make her seem something she isn’t. It is all about delivery and she has been a bugger sometimes without really realising.

I think she is properly lovely really but has just had to grow a bastard hard shell to get through the day. I relate to that.

She had me teary a couple of times. And I’m really glad she has found her love. We all need a bit of love. Even us buggers with shells.

There were a couple of minutes of training footage on It Tales Two tonight. Just a teeny taster.

There’s a nice interview with Hamza in the Guardian today. Really interesting about his life and background.

I don't mind Shirley at all. She knows what she's talking about and gives constructive criticism. Her scores can be a bit predictable. But then so can Motsi and Anton.

I don't mind Shirley - in fact i like her, except that she is sometimes very unkind to young women, and very tetchy with young men.

However there is absolutely no doubt that she knows her stuff and I wish I looked a tenth as good . I suspect that they are under instructions to make sure some people don't go out too early for whatever reason - and i'll bet it frustrates the judges just as much as it does us! Similarly there are probably some they can't get rid of because the fans won't let them Tony .
