Has anyone started watching this? I’ve just watched the first episode and found it utterly chilling. It’s been a long time since a TV show has impacted me so much; I felt myself physically recoiling. Excellent acting from both the chap playing Dahmer, and his victim, Tracey.

Is it the one with Evan Peters?!

I watched the trailer a few days ago and had a nightmare about him that night!

The2Omicronnies · 21/09/2022 21:07

Yes, that’s the one. Definitely worried about nightmares myself now!

I've just watched the first episode. It was really claustrophobic and tense, not sure if I could say it was enjoyable!

I'll continue watching as I'm interested to hear from the father in the police interviews etc.

The2Omicronnies · 21/09/2022 21:16

Claustrophobic is a great way to describe it. So uncomfortable.

I just saw the trailer for it today and added it to my list of things to watch as soon as I saw Evan Peters was in it. He's fab.

I just turned this on.

A good ten years ago before I had children I was into horror movies and rented DAHMER with Jeremy Renner playing Dahmer. It intrigued me the way he acted so I checked out some more stuff, information on what Dahmer did, and it went to wathicng all media on him and his full trial, which was so so chilling. The
most chilling part was testimony from the victims’ families including one sister who went off on Dahmer, who had no reaction.

I learned everything about this man.

I even went deep down a rabbit hole that suggested he killed women and children as well as young men in Milwaukee, including a famous guy’s little boy, because he was in the area at the time that boy disappeared. There was a guy what had an online site about having shared a room with Dahmer in the military.

Honestly he's the most interesting and most harrowing killer ever to exist. I'm so intrigued but actually I'm turning this off.

That whole time period affected me. After watching one particular documentary I actually remember thinking what am I doing? I think this stuff haunts you.

Honestly I wouldn't advise anyone to watch this.

You can find interviews with Dahmer and his father online too. The father is said to have sexually abused him. It really is harrowing stuff. The movie with Renner is brilliant, but really harrowing in itself. You can also find lots of footage of Dahmer online, like I say, I don't recommend it.

macthekwife · 21/09/2022 21:40

Dahmer was an exceptionally likeable guy. His neighbour, a black lady (saw her in the first episode) trusted him so much she took a sandwich from him. She talked about it, and she ate it, and it was human flesh.

They seem to be portraying him as creepy. He wasn't, he was trusted, hence why he got so many people to come home with him, cops to hand a young boy back to him, and get away with it for so long.

So this is sensationalist, at first glance.

(I know. I need to turn it off)

SpringIntoChaos · 21/09/2022 21:45

I've just watched the first 20 minutes or so of the first episode...I had to turn it off...it was so disturbing 😰 I knew if I kept watching I would have trouble sleeping. I will watch it...but not this late in the evening. He was a very, very disturbed man!

macthekwife · 21/09/2022 21:46

I'm 10 mins in and guessing the first guy in his apartment is the last guy out in real life?

Jota67 · 21/09/2022 22:06

Finished the first 2 episodes

It's really harrowing some of it but also fascinating and great acting .

Cops don't come out of it well so far...racist and homophobic.

I had read up on Dahmer previously but this is so chilling

Backtoblack1 · 22/09/2022 16:14

It’s brilliantly done but my god it turned me sick!

The2Omicronnies · 22/09/2022 20:02

I can’t wait to watch more. Annoyingly, DH is out for the evening and I said I’d wait for him (and has nothing to do with me being scared shitless if I watched it alone 😳🤥)

Episode 6 is my fav so far.
loving this Evan peters is really good

scorpiogirly · 22/09/2022 23:21

Just watched all episodes. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Some bits were hard to watch which is rare for me as I'm quite desensitised.

Fanofcrisps · 23/09/2022 01:11

Bloody hell, I don't remember feeling sick and anxious watching tv before, I also managed about 20 minutes before turning it off.

mackthepony · 23/09/2022 01:26

I'm on episode 3. Tohhh watching

Had to spin episode one forward in parts. I had trouble sleeping after tbh

I'd heard about him before so know the basics.

Find it interesting that him and Dennis Nilsen were operating, let's say at the same time, very similar methods (vom)

Fanofcrisps · 23/09/2022 01:38

Vom indeed. Just put on an episode of the golden girls on instead.

mackthepony · 23/09/2022 02:03

I actually love the GG 😂

Easier watching, let's face it!

antelopevalley · 23/09/2022 02:11

It is so chilling how many times the police ignored what was happening.

Bemyclementine · 23/09/2022 12:18

I'm on episode 7. It's truly shocking even though I knew the story before. Seriously fucked up man.

Bemyclementine · 23/09/2022 12:20

His poor neighbour

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 23/09/2022 14:07

Only watched E1 so far but my god, like a pp I felt sick with anxiety for that poor guy.

Very unsettling tv. I'm concerned it doesn't reflect well on me that I'm gripped and will continue watching ... why do we? Sad
I take the piss out of my mum who is addicted to those true life crime shows but I'm happy to watch this? It's very strange.

foxlover47 · 23/09/2022 17:13

I'm up to episode 5 now . Have to say I read a lot of crime etc and have never read much about him so it's a lot like seeing it first hand and that first episode had me so tense !
The way it's filmed reminds me of the Gianni Versace American crime story , brilliant soundtrack etc
Disturbs me how much I am enjoying watching it but what a brilliant actor the lead ia
