First Pointless without Richard Osman this afternoon?

I've been away for a few days. Saw Pointless on Monday which was an old episode (no potential boost to the jackpot with the "pick the two pointless answers out of six possibles").
It wasn't on last night due to cricket; tonight in The Times it says "Pointless with Alexander Armstrong and Sally Lindsay".
Is this the first one without Richard?
I'll really miss him Sad

(Yes, I know: what a sad life I must have etc)

Couldn't stand SL when she stood in for Warwick Davies on Tenable so may have to switch over when she is on... Looking forward to Stephen Mangan co presenting though....

LaMarschallin · 15/09/2022 07:49

That doesn't bode well for when she does present then.
I agree about Stephen Mangan: can see him making a much better fist of it.

Anyway, despite what was in the Times and the Radio Times, it was another old episode of Pointless. Perhaps they're not going to start the new series until the television schedules have settled back to normal.

Oh no didn't realise Sally Lindsay was taking over his role! I like her as an actress but never warmed to her as a quiz presenter on Tenable.

Elderflower14 · 20/09/2022 17:38

I take back what I said.... She's doing very well!! ☺ ☺

LaMarschallin · 20/09/2022 17:53

I'm finding her a bit stilted, but better than I expected.
I do miss Richard though.

Missing Richard , it's not the same without him , they were a great duo.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 20/09/2022 17:58

It’s not working with Sally Lindsay for me I’m afraid.

LaMarschallin · 20/09/2022 18:02

I don't know how long they have the guest presenters on; I think I can cope with a week of her...
The rapport between Richard and Alexander was special though.

She did quite well. Richard is a hard act to follow.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/09/2022 18:35

It’s not working for me - she’s quite stilted and I can’t be doing with her just reading huge chunks of her lines of the laptop!

I think we’ve been spoilt by Richard 😕

the80sweregreat · 20/09/2022 19:08

She wasn't too bad , but Richard invented pointless and he was a natural.
I'm sad his gone, but life moves on and it was nice to see a woman presenter.
I Just need to get used to it without him.

Blueberrycreampie · 21/09/2022 17:59

Not keen on Sally Lindsay as I thought Richard was such a great match for Zander - oh well, all good things and that...

gogohmm · 21/09/2022 18:08

She's finding her feet for sure but seems to have some rapport with AA will take time to get used to other co presenters

mum2jakie · 24/09/2022 17:31

I thought she was stilted on Tenable but seems even more uncomfortable on Pointless this week! Shows just how good Richard Osman actually was at the role as it seemed effortless, compared to Sally Lindsay reading from a screen with all the personality of a brick 🧱

LaMarschallin · 24/09/2022 18:22

If she'd been on it from the start I'd never have continued to watch it.
I'm amazed she can learn her lines for acting as she's reading everything - even the rules, which she should know by now - from a computer screen.
I really hope it improves with a different presenter.

we have given up.and defected to the chase.

I love Richard and it just isn't the same ! thank goodness his House of Games is on at 6 on BBC2 to give me my daily fix .

mumda · 25/09/2022 13:24

She came alive when she was talking about things she knew something about. It just wasn't very much. I don't remember Richard looking at the laptop as much as she has.

Livpool · 25/09/2022 13:27

I thought she was awful - you need someone like Victoria Coren-Mitchell. She was just reading directly from the laptop - and sounded like a bored child at a nativity

CrossPurposes · 25/09/2022 13:50

Richard Osman never used the laptop (it was a prop). He has an eye condition that means he can't use autocues and the like. That's why he was always consulting paper notes on the desk. I think that's the reason Richard worked so well is that it was generally unscripted and was so natural.

DahliaMacNamara · 25/09/2022 15:01

Anyone know how long the guest presenters stay? Like others, I found SL a bit stilted when reading 'lines', but she did come to life when her personality was allowed to shine through.

FlipFlops4Me · 25/09/2022 15:07

We turned over and won't be watching again. We do watch Richard's House of Games but I'm afraid Pointless is spoiled now.

xsquared · 05/10/2022 18:06

New friend this afternoon.

I didn't mind Sally, but she kept looking at the laptop which I found off putting.

Who was it today? Haven't been watching for the last few weeks. #ComeBackRichard

DahliaMacNamara · 05/10/2022 22:06

It was Stephen Mangan today. Much more assured.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/10/2022 13:33

might give it another go if he’s better - it was unwatchable with Sally Lindsay
