First Pointless without Richard Osman this afternoon?

I've been away for a few days. Saw Pointless on Monday which was an old episode (no potential boost to the jackpot with the "pick the two pointless answers out of six possibles").
It wasn't on last night due to cricket; tonight in The Times it says "Pointless with Alexander Armstrong and Sally Lindsay".
Is this the first one without Richard?
I'll really miss him Sad

(Yes, I know: what a sad life I must have etc)

Cheered me up enormously watching it with Stephen Mangan.
Sally was appalling.

Yeah, Sally Lindsay was shit, it was like she'd never watched the show before and couldn't settle into the flow of it...or make sense of what she was reading. Stephen Mangan was great though, he can stay.

the trouble is if they change every 2 weeks what is the point of finding someone good ? the next week it could be awful again. They would be better finding someone who is a good fit and sticking with them surely ?

Maybe this is part of the "audition" process?

I hope they settle with someone soon. Steven seems quite at home with Xander, so I hope he gets it permanently.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2022 10:47

Steven is very good.
He has Beethoven hair I think

KimberleyClark · 07/10/2022 13:57

I got used to Sally but Stephen was great. “ I’ve never tried combining acid and alcohol”.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 07/10/2022 14:33

Stephen is a natural, will watch whilst he is in the chair.

mum2jakie · 07/10/2022 19:10

Saw Stephen Mangan co-hosting today - much better suited! Hope he gets the gig permanently

FlipFlops4Me · 10/10/2022 17:27

First time of seeing Stephen Mangan - I do hope they keep him!

CuriousMama · 11/10/2022 17:43

Mangan today. We should be able to keep him. I hardly watch anyway tbh. But I love Richard ❤️

Dahlia444 · 13/10/2022 20:40

Just catching up on iplayer with Stephen Mangam. Phew. So glad I can still watch one of my fave shows.

Maireas · 13/10/2022 20:45

Stephen Mangan is funny. His method acting for the role of Postman Pat compared to Robert de Niro and Raging Bull!
He won't want it permanently, he's too much in demand.

Anyone know how long the guest presenters stay? Like others, I found SL a bit stilted when reading 'lines', but she did come to life when her personality was allowed to shine through.

11 episodes each - there are 55 episodes in each series.

LaMarschallin · 14/10/2022 10:59

I've really enjoyed Stephen Mangan on it - and not just because he is so infinitely better than Sally. We were getting to the point of switching off permanently.
And so nice to get back to some wit rather than everything being laboriously read off the screen: she even had to read out the rules each time. You'd think an actress could learn lines...

Oops! Realise I've made that point before.
You'd think a MNetter could remember their own posts...Blush

Why didn't they carry on with the series rather than go back to (presumably) repeats? I was getting geared up to see how the newest guest host would shape up, and wham, Richard's back in the chair. I always find it disconcerting when they go from one series to repeats, and that's much more apparent this time around. I used to think I might be imagining it.

devildeepbluesea · 08/11/2022 17:32

When Sally started I was looking for a thread about it!

I thought she was ok, Lauren was pretty good but Stephen was brilliant wasn’t he! Almost like Richard hadn’t gone. Pretty easy on the eye too, if you ask me.

I do hope he comes back.

Cleebope2 · 08/11/2022 17:35

Why is Richard back on this week? Is it arepeat?

Cookerhood · 08/11/2022 17:38

Stephen was brilliant & I find him very attractive. Sally was awful, & Lauren was ok, but Stephen was a natural. I wonder who is next & when.

Halsall · 08/11/2022 20:04

Are they doing repeats with the guest hosts already?? Blimey, that didn’t take long!

Ed Gamble's still to come, and Alex Brooker and Konnie Huq.

Cleebope2 · 08/11/2022 20:26

Or is Richard still making the odd appearance in the new series?

Cookerhood · 08/11/2022 21:00

Richard is only doing celebrity ones I think

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2022 21:34

It's off topic, but I do like RO's books !
Bonkers and far fetched, but very entertaining

I love his books too - waiting to listen to the latest one as an audiobook though as I don't like reading hardbacks
