When we first meet married couple Ian and Emma they’re in a Spanish airport returning from a lovely holiday — and bickering over a baked potato! By the time they’re on the plane it’s a full blown argument, setting the scene for what’s to come in this four-part series.

Sometimes they seem in love. Other times not and very stilted and false laughter

Is that how relationships are after so long married

He's trying for a job - well went for an interview

But seems to have issues as does she - esp over Rubbish

And his issues with Jamie /very nosey about the office trip and who was going. So very jealous ?

And Jamie well he doesn't fancy her but does the Assistant ...

He's married ..... so obv a sleeze

My marriage is probably much more dysfunctional.

It's alright. But the writer has always slightly annoyed with the over doing of nothing actually happening.
I think It could have been casted much better actually.

Agree @SapphosRock the men are all awful. I so hope the daughter gets out of that horrible relationship.

It was utterly wrong for prime time BBC1 but perfect BBC2 mid week fodder. I think it's great - really different.

It is horribly awkward and slow moving but I’m intrigued by where it goes.

The bits with Sean at the gym with the young receptionist and then with the bloke and the dirty lift mirrors were creepy!

All those things like boring B &Q and Internet going down is so true. Just they make a weird couple I think.

I'm not surprised it got prime time as the writer/ director? Worked his way slowly in 10 years or more going from bbc3 then bbc two then bbc one.
He'll prob do end of life next .. no thanks.

I found it telling that he let her go and get the trolley etc. not sure why, but almost as if that particular job was beneath him!

I bet there's loads of creepy middle aged men like him. But most the times your in a rush and avoid them.

But then he took the trolley back-it was like they had unspoken jobs.

Normally I see a few in supermarkets..

The filming far away from the action is a strange feature. The whole time he was talking about the lift to the reception man was filmed at a long distance.

I don't think they suit the clothes at all.

Thank goodness for the awful theme music. It woke me up in time to get the cat in and go to bed.
I’ll stick with it, but it may have to be written off as four hours I’ll never get back.

Could they have found a more old fashioned coat for Sean Bean..

Supermarkets fo tend to attract odd people !
I mostly come across those who love to hold conversations with their friends directly in front of the one item I want to put in my trolley !

I though she did mention conference to him

Her clothes are mostly horrible. She has a great figure too.
The obsession with recycling too. She keeps on picking up letters from the floor and not reading them as well and then just throwing them away.
I wonder if she has debts and she is destroying the evidence?

She didn’t mention the conference to him.

I agree, I thought NW looked amazing in the clothes they did for her in The Split. The red jacket in this show is especially horrid.

They haven't much money , so everything they buy is cheap or in the sales etc.
