What to watch on Disney plus?

Just got a Disney plus subscription for the summer and looking for suggestions.

I don’t watch a lot of TV but I enjoy TaskMaster, sewing bee and just finished The Wheel of Time. Also like gentle murder programmes.

I’m a teacher and I have agreed to watch all the Marvel movies as my students were aghast at my lack of knowledge, so they are already on my list.

Drop out - it the dramatisation about the Tharanos company

The rescue- A brilliant documentary about the rescue of the boys stuck in the cave in Thailand.

Springandsummerarecoming · 02/07/2022 15:37

This is us. Lovely family series.

MallampatiCatty · 02/07/2022 15:45

The rescue as someone said above is fantastic and so moving. Some good quality documentaries actually all round.

We also use it for x files, desperate housewives and greys anatomy (somewhat of a contrast there but it's good background noise when I work from home!)

beenrumbled · 02/07/2022 15:49

Agents of Shield. Linked to the MCU but not cannon. For now.

StarWarsisthebest · 02/07/2022 15:53

We have watched all the Marvel films in order, Star Wars films in order, The Mandalorian, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and now the new Obi Wan Kenobi series which is fab!

SkygardenTower · 02/07/2022 15:57

Thank you all, loving the suggestions.

Only Murders in the Building, The Resident.

GrinAndVomit · 02/07/2022 16:00

We really enjoyed Dopesick. It’s about how a pharmaceutical company exploited millions of Americans and caused them to have opioid addictions.

BlueRaincoat1 · 02/07/2022 16:00

Dopesick. It's It's 8 part drama series starring Michael Keaton about the opioid crisis in America. It's not gentle or really like anything you've suggested buts it's so compelling and absolutely brilliant TV.

LottieTx · 02/07/2022 16:00

Only murders in the building, once you’ve done the marvel films do Wanda Vision (you’ll have to do that before the new Dr Strange anyway).

BlueRaincoat1 · 02/07/2022 16:01

X post with @GrinAndVomit !

LottieTx · 02/07/2022 16:01

Oh yes as PP said -Dopesick

CoffeethenCrochet · 02/07/2022 16:08

NCIS including the new season

Twizbe · 02/07/2022 16:10

Go with me on these

Encanto - really good Disney film with very catchy songs

Moana - as above with some funny bits. I love Tamatoa

Bluey - 'kids' show but hilarious

Podgedodge · 02/07/2022 16:10

Dopesick for me too, but is a bit harsh.

Shantotto · 02/07/2022 16:11

If you like ‘gentle murder’ you must watch Only Murders in the Building immediately!

Izzabellasasperella · 02/07/2022 16:31

The Pistols. Drama documenting the rise and fall of the Sex Pistols. Not totally true to life but very entertaining😀

mrsfeatherbottom · 02/07/2022 16:43

I love This Is Us - just about to start the last series.

GrinAndVomit · 02/07/2022 21:06

I’ve just started watching Only Murders in This Building because of the recommendations on here. Thank you so much. It’s perfect to watch alone when my husband is working nights. Not too scary and not something he’d be interested in so I’d have to wait until he’s home to watch.
I’d never have chosen to watch this without the prompt so I’m very grateful.

jay55 · 02/07/2022 21:22

Another vote for only murders.

Encore! A reality show bringing former high school musical casts back together. It has some brilliant moments with people who can't let go of what happened in high school.

jay55 · 02/07/2022 21:24

Oh and Reservation Dogs, drama about teen native Americans.

wonderstuff · 02/07/2022 21:34

We loved Loki and the Jeff Goldblum thing. I love all the behind the scenes at Disney world films as well. Is Hamilton obviously. DS and I are quite partial to an Encanto singalong.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 02/07/2022 21:36

Came on to say DopeSick.

ouch321 · 02/07/2022 21:40

Parallels - about a group of kids who are hanging out one evening, something happens and then you see what plays out in parallel dimensions

War of the Worlds- surprisingly good series with 2 seasons so far and s3 coming.

OMITB- a trio investigate a murder in their v fancy fancy apartment building. Random but fun.

And of course lots of the Disney and Pixar films are good. Star Wars and Marvel is of no interest to me.

YummyBelicious · 02/07/2022 21:42

The world according to Jeff Goldblum
