What to watch on Disney plus?

SkygardenTower · 02/07/2022 15:32

Just got a Disney plus subscription for the summer and looking for suggestions.

I don’t watch a lot of TV but I enjoy TaskMaster, sewing bee and just finished The Wheel of Time. Also like gentle murder programmes.

I’m a teacher and I have agreed to watch all the Marvel movies as my students were aghast at my lack of knowledge, so they are already on my list.

Dopesick is fantastic
Really enjoyed the Pistol series as well

hockeygrass · 03/07/2022 21:41

I'm really enjoying The Dropout, best US series I have watched for a few weeks.

DeathMetalMum · 03/07/2022 22:02

We've enjoyed Bones.

Also reccomend Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the other marvel series that were on netflix if you find you enjoy the marvel movies.

Another one for Dopesick. I also like private practice and I'm waiting The big shot with dc10.

All I the only one to love The Big Leap? Comedy drama about contestants on a dance reality show. Lovely and easy going, great dancing.

Only Murders in the Building, The Resident.

Love Only Murders in the Building!!!! It's sooo good!

On another thread, I asked for recommendations for shows as good as Succession and Breaking Bad and the consensus was that The Americans on Disney+ is as good as those shows. I haven't yet watched it though.

Only murders in the building, once you’ve done the marvel films do Wanda Vision (you’ll have to do that before the new Dr Strange anyway).

This.

Loki, Hawkeye and Moon Knight are all good, but Wandavision is both good and essential viewing for Dr Strange &TMOM

Only Murders In the Building is a great watch.

notforonesecond · 04/07/2022 14:13

Lie to Me is brilliant.

And all 15 seasons of Criminal Minds are on there.

siblingrevelryagain · 04/07/2022 15:01

All series of The Walking Dead

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 04/07/2022 15:03

Love Victor is a really sweet teen LGB show.
It's a follow on from the book/film, Love Simon if you've seen that.

GrinAndVomit · 04/07/2022 15:41

Also, sign up to BritBox for the months free trial thing and watch Magpie Murders and Murder in Provence. They’re both really good. I’m not a media type person but even I absolutely swooned over the cinematography of Magpie Murders.

This.

The Mandalorian - especially first season.

Best thing I've watched in past year (which I'm still bereft over finishing) is The Americans. Still haven't found anything to come close since.

Set in 1980s America in the midst of the Cold War and very very loosely based on true events.. Elizabeth and Philip are two deep undercover Soviet spies who are living as the perfect American couple, complete with unsuspecting teenaged children and their own travel agency.

Plot focuses on their and other Soviet missions and the FBI's battle to foil them, but it is as much about their relationships as it is a spy thriller, so is very emotionally engaging. Great script, plotlines and likeable, developed characters.

MistyFuckingQuigley · 04/07/2022 18:06

Is the Americans definitely on Disney plus? It doesn't come up when I search.

Comes up for me. I keep meaning to give it a go because people whose opinions I trust rave about it, but never quite find the right moment.

Ignore me, my profile settings were 14 and below, have changed to 18+now and found it 🙈
