I often read the thread but I'm not sure if I've posted before. Anyway - Alfie. I couldn't remember his last exit so I wiki'd him and he isn't dead or even 'dead', he just did a runner because he 'borrowed' a lot of Phil's money. He left the cash for Kat which led to Phil menacing various Slaters, I think that fizzled out (large amounts of £££ appears and disappears randomly on EE doesn't it). I liked Alfie in his initial incarnation but had forgotten how terrible Alfie's later storylines were, I think I blocked it out! I had totally forgotten he had a one night stand with Hayley (who looked about 18) and the baby was his.

I too thought Jonah was Joe90 but actually he's Brains from Thunderbirds (but I agree the vibe they were going for and failed to hit was Michael Caine.) He can't be all that if wanders round on his own, doing his own threats.

Sam has been in the show for donkeys years on and off and yet I have no idea of 'who she is'. She always seems to be a cypher for whatever ridiculous storyline turns up. The actress has lovely hair though.

I agree Phil and Kat have no chemistry. Jessie does her best but it always looks like she is mentally handling him with tongs.

Phil ain't a grass! (yet) He told Keeble he would be an informant for her but he's done nothing yet. (I think Vincent was a police informant, that is why he ended up dead / 'dead'?) But Phil told Kat he ain't going to do it, he's going to do some digging into what Keeble is really up to (no, me neither). I hate these type of storylines, they are always nonsensical and over complicated.

I've a feeling that lovely hair Sam will tell her big brother everything so she can keep her looks intact and he'll ' sort it out ' by cutting a deal with Keeble about Joe 90 that will involve a plot line none of us will follow that well , car chase possibly a forest scene involving another character who only gets involved because they haven't had a story for a while and Joe 90 will end up deceased or disappear around Halloween or Christmas.

Yes @the80sweregreat that would work wouldn't it. But as you say it will be too complicated to follow (or care much about). I am never a fan of their gangster type storylines.

Whether it's Phil involved with a gangster it gets a bit complicated, it's ironic that he may end up like Vincent Hubbard without the old 80s hit to draw on for cash royalties.
How Phil makes money now is a mystery , he may own a house but you rarely see anyone running the arches anymore and I can't see Peggy's being enormously successful as it's quite an old fashioned place. Yet he always seems to have money.

I actually think chicken shops are genuinely often "dodgy" (and not just in a salmonella way).

I actually think Peggy's could do well as it has a kind of rough, 60s "east end gangster" vibe with the dim lighting and exposed brickwork. The centre bar works well too. I think it looks less dated than Ruby's did actually.

I haven't been clubbing since the 80s , but most nightclubs I've seen from outside are mostly modern and bright and nothing like Peggy's which looks more like a strip joint or gentleman's club ! But then I haven't been up to london for years.
Hayley was the young girl who had baby Cherry with Alfie. Katie Jarvis , who was arrested for GBH a few years ago and is now a security guard I believe or something like that

Baby Cherry went back to Hayley during lockdown. I think they got rid of the vulnerable cast members that way - Chatham & Riley went to live with their dad.

I saw an article about them , but didn't bother to read it! We have an old fashioned sweet shop in town , that seems alright
