I like Luca, I think he's funny. I didn't like the chest banging thing, but it's possible there was more context to it outside of the cameras as Gemma was laughing.

Gemma doesn't seem to take much crap. So if she didn't like it or felt it was domineering I think she'd have said something.

I don't really like Jacques, he's ok but I don't think there's much to him.

Danika has to be the most annoying person I've seen for a while. She'd have triggered me big time, she just seemed very fake (I realise most are but she's bad at hiding it). The boys all seemed impressed with her but I don't think it'll last. Either she'll have to calm down or they'll all find her irritating (surely).

ES - hypocrite all over and will just jump from guy to guy. I thought it was strange how quickly she was all over Davide to start with and how full on she was. I don't think Jay actually likes her that much so I think that'd come crashing down.

Paige - I'm so surprised she hasn't found a nice partner yet as she seems a solid person, very pretty and also head switched on and kind.

Tasha - has annoyed me from the beginning, when she was spinning Andrew lines while trying to get with Luca. She's also acting like she's open to new things even though acting mega coupled with Andrew. She's a snake. I think her deafness has allowed her leeway others wouldn't get.

The racial segregation at the beginning was cringy but I was happy to see more black people on the show (shame there's no other diversity). I can see why the segregation happened though, as in previous shows it's been quite upsetting seeing the black contestants been put on the friend zone by most people. I guess it's the type of guys they choose to go in and their view on what's attractive as some beautiful black women have been completely overlooked repeatedly in the past and it was hard to watch.

Aixellency · 19/06/2022 08:04

Well the producers have effectively kiboshed any hope of diversity (in terms of age or race) by decreeing that the women must all walk around displaying their naked beh*nds. (Since I like being on MN I’ll keep my opinion on why they’ve done this to myself …)

When, seriously did this become a thing. How did I miss the memo??

CarpyDiem · 19/06/2022 08:10

LI has always been in swimwear.

(And BTW you're allowed to swear on MN, so it's OK to say that the girls have their arses out all day (without dragging extra attention by using asterisks))

At least the swimwear this year is less weird and cut away than last year.

Aixellency · 19/06/2022 08:25

I know perfectly well what I can write on MN! I’d just rather not enable tiresome searches.

And yes, given the locations, it’s not hard to understand that people wear weather appropriate clothing.

My point still stands. The clothing culture dictated by the producers effectively excludes huge sectors of the British population.

Rollergirl11 · 19/06/2022 08:53

@Aixellency sorry I must be being thick as I can’t work out what your point is? Wearing swimwear that leaves very little to the imagination in regards to bums and boobs has been a LI staple since forever. Not sure what memo it is you think you’ve missed?

Crimsonripple · 19/06/2022 09:05

In previous years the swim bottoms haven't showed as much cheek. All the swimsuits seem to be more thing like. I guess it's the fashion?

icelollycraving · 19/06/2022 09:12

I don’t think anyone who is concerned with dressing with modesty would be on Love Island full stop.

MinglingFlamingo · 19/06/2022 09:13

Some of those bikini bottoms look really uncomfortable. Like they're giving a full on wedgie but still saggy. Would get it if it was a thing style but they aren't

Nomad916 · 19/06/2022 09:53

Last years under-boob swimsuits/bikinis were ridiculous

Maves · 19/06/2022 10:50

@Rollergirl11 I think @Aixellency means certain race/religions can't m show that much skin? Maybe I'm wrong. But I suppose anyone into thier religion wouldn't apply for live island.

marmiteadict · 19/06/2022 11:14

Gemma fancies the cheeky chappy, fun, lighthearted Luca hd was when he was paired with someone he wasn't bothered about

The irony is the sulky, moody Luca has come about because he genuinely really likes her and can't control his j possessiveness.

Gemma has grown on me. She seems mature and level headed. I suspect she has had extensive media PR training prior to going in. Which I would also insist on if I were her parents, especially in the circumstances

RedRuby152 · 19/06/2022 11:24

Kinda stopped watching midway through ep3 but now decided to give another go so trying to catch up which I don't feel is ideal but currently on episode 5 please tell me " the man sells fish" jokes lessen.

They really don't lessen.

Sadly.

It's a shame, found him really funny for a while.

Shame I'm just finding it really repeatitive. I know that's been the spiel of the show for a while just this one gets on my nerves this time

TitsInAbsentia · 19/06/2022 13:10

I used to find Ian really funny but it's full on cringe now. And don't get me started on the "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapeeeeeeeeeeeeens neeeeeeeeeeeeext" thing...meh.

Ian used to be hilarious but he's really boring now. I'd be happy if both him and Laura went and they got 2 new people to replace them - Emily Atack for Laura although not sure who would replace Ian!

Rollergirl11 · 19/06/2022 14:23

Rob Beckett would be an excellent replacement for Iain Stirling but he already does the voiceover for Celebs go dating so probs a conflict of interest. Maybe someone like Ed Gamble or Josh Widdicomb could be good.

marmiteadict · 19/06/2022 15:39

Just seen first look. No clues given as to the new pairings but both Dami and Jacques appear to have had their heads turned

BiscoffSundae · 19/06/2022 15:51

Dami and indiyah 🤔

BiscoffSundae · 19/06/2022 16:00

Haven’t even really seen them speak to each other but then I don’t watch the Saturday show

I'd love for the guy who narrates Come Dine With Me to replace Ian!

marmiteadict · 19/06/2022 16:08

It appears to be Jay encouraging Dami and Indiyah. I recall he was initially very attracted to Amber and said she was the first person who caught his eye when he first walked in and was literally eyeballing her.

So my theory is he's trying to encourage Dami to split with Amber as he wants her himself

Seconded for Dave Lamb! The committee has decided, ITV must make it so 😂

I hope Danica picks Jacques, he's a tool, I want Paige to have someone nicer., although no idea how that would spin the pairings.
