It was one of my favourite Wyndham books, I've watched the first 2 episodes and it seems good so far

OP posts:

DH and I have binged it today, it was ok.

Robin233 · 03/06/2022 04:32

Also binged today - can't sleep

It was ok but not a patch on the original film , and think I eve liked the remake film they dud with Christopher Reeve better.
But worth a watch.
Keeled Hawkes was great as usual.

User487216 · 03/06/2022 07:46

I've only watched 2 episodes so far but enjoying it.

RampantIvy · 03/06/2022 07:51

Shame it's on Sky. I would have liked to see it.

TeenPlusCat · 03/06/2022 07:53

We don't have Sky so i can't watch it.
How faithful is it being to the books? I've only seen the trailers so only noticed the children aren't all blonde with golden eyes, but I suspect that would have been very hard to cast. Not too worried about that, but nice to know if it is faithful to the book, just using it as a jump off point, or a dispiriting mix of the two.

I watched episode 1 last night, although I haven't read the book to compare them I really enjoyed it, I will definitely be watching more. I was expecting the house with the gas leak to explode when the husband was phoning, I'm sure I've read somewhere that mobile phones can cause a spark and that's why you can't use them at petrol stations.

MistyFuckingQuigley · 03/06/2022 08:34

I really enjoyed it. I haven't read the book though so not sure how faithful it was. Keeley Hawes fab as usual and the police officer bloke (Max something?) Was good too. Very creepy kids! 😳 poor Nathan 😢

I thought that was an urban myth?

Hi is there any sex in this? My dd12 wants to watch

mummymayhem18 · 03/06/2022 20:23

I'm as we speak watching this. On episode 5 I think. I'm enjoying it. There is sex in it but not much so far and not graphic l

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2022 23:49

I'm really enjoying it,I'm on episode 4.

puddlesofmothers · 04/06/2022 00:33

It's absolute painful shit, I'm so disappointed. The Guardians review of it is spot on.

A little bit - I don't think it's appropriate at all for 12, regardless of sex.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/06/2022 00:45

For a 12 year old? It's fine.

MidwichCuckoo · 04/06/2022 00:50

I'm enjoying it. Not read the book or seen the other films. I've watched episode 5

ahunf · 04/06/2022 09:22

My kids aren't bothered by violence they know it's not real. It's just the sex bits I don't want them to see.

First episode I had to have the remote in hand to fast forward. 😬

MidwichCuckoo · 04/06/2022 23:40

I'm near the end now. I find some of these Sky Drama series like this and The Rising start off really well but drag on for too many episodes. I also started to find Aisling Moran's acting not great after a bit.

MidwichCuckoo · 04/06/2022 23:42

Sorry, think it's Aisling Loftus/Zoe Moran character

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/06/2022 22:44

I’m on the last episode now and have really enjoyed it. I haven’t read the book.

ellebelli · 06/06/2022 10:22

I have not read the book..
Really enjoyed the first two episodes, though can imagine it could get a bit shit once all the creepy kids arrive!?

But the violence is horrible! Sex is loving and nice. And neither is real

Anyway. Only watched two but it’s not like the book so far. I don’t think it’s the best of his story’s - hated the sadistic kids , so not bad entertainment so far.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/06/2022 22:20

I shall attempt it when back

Graham98765 · 07/06/2022 20:36

Sadly they are scientifically illiterate, natural gas is a) not poisonous, and b) lighter than air, so lying on the floor is the safest place to be from a poisoning perspective. It does still explode though when mixed with air, so an explosion would have been much more realistic. Mobile phones are fairly safe from a sparking point of view, but light switches are not, so the first person to switch off the lights would be in trouble.

ahunf · 07/06/2022 20:53

Has Sam West had surgery / fillers or has he just changed his appearance for the part?

UrsulaPandress · 07/06/2022 21:44

Just finished it. I read the book a long time ago and I think I saw the original series. I really enjoyed this.
