Honestly, Jane my sister held a grudge against Billy Joe for years (well, not really, we moved house that Christmas, but she was 3, it felt like years Grin).

Raahh · 04/06/2022 19:40

See you there!

Raahh · 05/06/2022 09:58

Today's the day! Tennis

It's raining cats and dogs here. Dh has taken the dog out. Grin
I have warned everyone that I do not intend to feed them this afternoon (there is every possibility the match could be quite short, however, in which case, I might think about it). Grin

I think the match will be under the roof, the forecast for Paris does not look good. It's hard to tell whether that will be a factor or not though- I think both players would prefer hotter, dry outdoor conditions.

Good luck to Coco in a bit too- I hope she has put yesterday's disappoiintment behind her. 2 finals is a big deal, so she's done really well.
I haven't really been paying much attention to the doubles- I hadn't realised that Kiki Mladenovic was back playing with Caroline Garcia. They had a big falling out a few years back, didn't they?

Right- need to get a towel (for the dog) for when dh gets back Grin

Fizzywinegum · 05/06/2022 09:59

Ha ha just reading about your jubilee memories Raahh although I did think it was Billy Joel who popped your sisters peas Grin

Jane I haven’t tried the sky password yet - holiday torpor has already set in but I will try later

i think the fact that Rafa hasn’t played Casper before will challenge him a bit at first - I’m hoping that working my way through the cocktail menu might help with any stress!

I really hope that Rafa comes to Wimbledon - I find the Tesco self service challenging as well Grin

Raahh · 05/06/2022 10:26

'Billy Joel' Fizzy - that would have been great Grin

I hate self checkouts. Dh insists on using the ones in Asda that are for full trolley shops. It takes bloody ages, and something always goes wrong. I'd rather queue for 5 minutes longer and see an actual person Grin I only take dh with me so he can reach the high shelves carry the heavy stuff Grin

The 'first tme playing' thing does seem to favour the less experienced player, recently, although Rafa will be a bit more familiar with Ruud, because of the Academy connection.

Good luck with the cocktail menu, Fizzy Grin

Raahh · 05/06/2022 12:26

Well done to Kiki and Caroline- another loss for Coco, but lots of experience for her.

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 12:27

Coco is more stoic today. Probably easier when you are not alone.

Raahh · 05/06/2022 12:29

Jane definitely- must be a horrible feeling sitting there by yourself, whilst all this is going on.

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 12:30

Hope it's the right password Fizzy we have a constant cycle of making and forgetting passwords and by we I mean DH.

Lovely speech from Coco

I'm awful with passwords,. I mean I can remember events from 45 years ago when I was 5- but panic if I have to sign back in to my e-mail account- because I can't remember the passord (that I'm pretty sure I only changed last weekGrin).

I probably should write them down somewhere (though I know this is a big no-no).

Raahh · 05/06/2022 12:39

Yes, Coco speaks very well. It's been a big weekend for someone so young. Her time will come.

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 12:44

I wonder if anyone on here is going to the final in Surbiton today. Kudla v Thompson. Should be a good match.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/06/2022 12:49

Sounds good, Jane- I hope the weather holds up!

Bit of a gap now before the final. I should really do something productive.

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 12:58

I should too Raahh Grin I had a weird pain in my leg last night and thought I was getting DVT from sitting around watching tennis and the jubilee!

Jane I'm starting to feel like I did during the first lockdown when I barely moved off the sofa for 6 months Grin
I've got lots of meetings and stuff to do this week, and Ds is back in the office, so I will be up early (because I am a mug and will take him to the station). DD1 is back in school for her GCSE exams. The stoma nurse is coming round to see DD2- so I really should tidy up a lot a bit.

I have failed in the 'doing something' stakes, as I've discovered a programme about the Jubilee pageant. I'm not even that interested in it- I'm just procrastinating Grin

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 13:21

Well I ironed a pair of jeans for DS2 and then I also discovered the pageant Grin

Cliff finally got old.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/06/2022 13:22

Cliff is now being interviewed by Kirsty.
At least he's not singing.

Raahh · 05/06/2022 13:22

x -post. I was thinking that.

Raahh · 05/06/2022 13:27

Cliff seems to have aged quickly at 81- but Nile looks really young for 69!

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 13:34

Twiggy looks great and natural

Afternoon all 😊
Feeling nervous about this - I really hope it isn't a 5 hour marathon.

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2022 13:37

Hi Mama we definitely don't need a long match and hopefully it will be a straightforward win for Rafa!
