Why would Marion say that? Yikes!
I enjoy the women's.

For a few years there was too much screeching (thanks Sharapova) which should not have been allowed to happen and I'm sure put a lot of people off. That habit seems to be dying out amongst the new generation of players. And as I said before these players seem to perform more consistently so you actually get to know them better.

I'm looking forward to the battle of the Rafa fans today.

The Polish fans love to get all dressed up in their national colours.

Bit of a whitewash so far.

It's lashing rain here.

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2022 15:15

And that's that!

Marion in another ball gown.

Marion looked lovely but not really appropriate for a tennis court! Glad Iga got through, but if a disappointing match to watch though. This one’s looking closer so far but still early days.

ChessieFL · 02/06/2022 16:08

Where are you Jane? It’s sunny here (South West).

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2022 16:15

I'm in Ireland Chessie. It was lovely this morning but then the rain came out of nowhere. DS2 got a bit sunburnt yesterday and I thought summer had arrived. It didn't last long!

The blue is lovely on Marion. I wonder if she has lots of evening dresses and thought she might as well get some wear out of them Grin

This match is a bit more exciting.

Hope the rain stops soon Jane. This match isn’t turning out quite as close as I thought it might.

Raahh · 02/06/2022 16:32

I was out all morning, got in to see the very last points of Iga's match.

It has been raining here all week, but has cheered up a bit today (enough to actually put washing out, anyway). Ds managed to get sunburt at a festival at the weekend- not sure how , it didn't seem that sunny Grin.

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2022 16:52

I went into the kitchen for a few minutes and Martina sounds like a cat being mauled from there!

ChessieFL · 02/06/2022 17:10

She is rather noisy!

JaneJeffer · 02/06/2022 17:18

She made such an effort but for Coco it looked effortless.

Just marking my spot now for Rafa this aft - only I've foolishly booked fairground tickets for the DC 1-5pm so will have to avoid all thread content & sports news so that I can watch this evening. I'm feeling tense already! Side note, so pleased Coco made it yesterday, love her. And once again my viewing time tomorrow scuppered by plans with DC - I'll say one thing for the late matches, at least the kids are in bed usually Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/06/2022 13:09

Pesky little blighters @JeansAndJumper

Looking forward to seeing the birthday boy. I'm more tired today than I was the other night and not feeling great.

I’ve booked my slot for watching Rafa as well Jeans - for some reason I’m feeling fairly relaxed about this match so hope that I’m not proven wrong

Now that Rafa has already beaten Djok I sort of think he’s already won the tournament but he’s still got to get past Sascha to get to the final and then Ruud or Cilic - still not as scary as facing Djok though (hopefully!)

I’m off on holiday tomorrow so will hopefully be watching the men’s final in Greece (if we manage to get through the chaos of Manchester airport Hmm)

Fizzywinegum · 03/06/2022 13:12

Oh yes happy birthday Rafa Cake - he’s got to win on his birthday

Hope you feel better soon Jane

JaneJeffer · 03/06/2022 13:17

Hope you have a lovely time Fizzy Last week there was a 48 hour delay for people flying back to Ireland from Greece. The airports are so chaotic especially Dublin.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 03/06/2022 13:19

Even if Rafa gets beaten, which he won't, at least it won't be by Djok and he's still got 21 Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 03/06/2022 13:32

Fizzy good luck with the airport (I feel like getting thorugh that at the moment that is more of a feat than facing Rafa- I will wave from my gardenGrin). DDs friend went away last weekend - they were at the airport 12 hours. It's a bit annoying when you literally live a couple miles from it, and could have waited at home Grin.

Happy Birthday Rafa Cake

Jane I feel the same way- just knowing he won't be beaten by Djok, makes me feel better about it. And he's still got 21 slams.
It will be a tough match today, I think- Rafa has had a tough draw to get this far- but I feel he's already done the hard work- if that makes sense.

If he makes the final, I can't really see him losing to Cilic or Ruud- unless his foot gives up. I don't think I could cope with that. (not that he's ever lost an RG final).

Hard to call the second semi final- in theory- Cilic has more experience, but he's not really a clay specialist, and although Ruud is much younger, he is possibly naturally better on clay. But Marin has found a new level this fortnight. That could be a very close one.

Arghhhh! The roof is closed!

Fizzywinegum · 03/06/2022 13:36

Thanks Jane and Raahh - I was hoping to camp out at yours if it all went pear shaped at the airport Grin

oh no the roof is on!
