I didn't pick up on the clue about Peter putting on the red hoodie, but when the credits rolled the first character names were Ben and Peter, so I gathered they were batterer and batteree respectively. And if so, shouldn't Ian somehow divine this and roll back into town?

Ben also murdered the lovely 'Ev , so I dislike him even more than most of those who have killed people on the square!

Ben was quite a sweet, sensitive boy when he first arrived from South Africa after Kathy 'died'. I suppose the years being parented by Phil have taken their toll! He has never shown any remorse for killing Ev (her son will probably turn up in a revenge storyline in a few years) and is a completely horrible character with no redeeming features.

His relationship with Callum is ridiculous. No police offer who takes his job seriously would would marry a violent killer who is constantly caught up in illegal activities.

Ben didn’t murder Heather @the80sweregreat but yes he did kill her. They used to embed friends I recall and looking back it’s actually a pretty disturbing story.

Just as horrible was Heather having a one night stand with 18 year old Darren Miller. That story wouldn’t happen these days.

Totally agree with this. Only a totally bent cop would entertain it.

Karen is actually the best mum on the square in that respect although I think she has two other boys besides Keegan and Keanu who are never mentioned and have vanished into thin air

yes, she's a great mother. Riley and Chatham went to live with their father during lockdown and stayed there. I wonder if the actors were too vulnerable healthwise to continue due to Covid.

I still can't get over how in EE, a few blokes being beaten up in separate attacks in London of all places is considered of major note and presumed to be by the same perpetrator.

I'm not making light of people being beaten up of course, but surely it happens so often in a city (or any large town tbh) that there would have to be something strikingly similar about each attack for police to make a connection.
