@JanisMoplin

Harpreet needs to be abrasive. She is a brown Northern woman whose name no one can pronounce correctly. Probably has had to fight her way up. Would have liked to see Akshay or Aaron in the last 4 though.
She needs to be assertive. There’s never an excuse to be abrasive.

@JanisMoplin - the same could apply to Kathryn being abrasive due to her origins/colour. Harpreet is easy enough to pronounce.

I agree re Aaron but his security business I’m not sure would be a good business for suralan.

Maireas · 20/03/2022 11:00

I think Akshay was on the losing team too often - was it 8/9? Something like that.

ClariceQuiff · 20/03/2022 11:14

I wouldn't call Harpreet 'abrasive'. She runs her kitchens in a military way, which you'd expect from a professional chef/restaurant manager. Take when she was ordering Akeem around - having been given the simple task of preparing rice, Akeem was bumbling around hopelessly, while Harpreet was doing all the complicated stuff. Harpreet didn't have much choice but to be short with him if the food was ever going to arrive on the table.

JanisMoplin · 20/03/2022 11:16

Harpreet is easy enough to pronounce I agree. No one on the show is pronouncing it right. It's " Hur" as in Hurry. As for " Harps" well..

Prefer Harpreet to useless Akeem who just smiled all the way through and did nothing. She gets the job done. Maybe not pleasantly, but done. I expect Suralan is looking for someone like that in this climate.

Interesting as I always think Suralan is quite old school, borderline aggressive in business . (Which I know obviously works....but I don't think it should be the blueprint for all businesses) However Harpreet was pulled up in one of the interviews about not making small talk, and not knowing about her staff. I thought suralan would admire that "business only" approach...?

ClariceQuiff · 20/03/2022 11:42

They go out of their way to fault-find in those interviews. The interview episode is my least favourite episode because it crosses the line into farce.

JanisMoplin · 20/03/2022 11:44

I do think that if Harpreet wins it will be a bit dull because we just had someone with cakes a couple of seasons ago? Forgot her name. Was it Alana?

Gonnagetgoing · 20/03/2022 11:45

Akeem was useless and only spoke up in last few rounds and when he was leaving!

I think Harpreet was both abrasive and assertive but I’m sure lots of editing is done to show the best tv.

To be fair to Harpreet if she’s working with someone like Akeem who doesn’t seem like he knew his arse from his elbow then no wonder she was a bit bossy!

Did anyone see the media article which claimed Aaron was a bully (he denied this).

JanisMoplin · 20/03/2022 11:48

I liked Aaron. Seemed very down to earth and had a sense of humour. Which possibly Harpreet may be slightly lacking in. I do think some of the challenges like the baby food one were cooking challenges rather than business challenges. Obviously Harpreet has a lot of cooking experience.

Yes - Alana Spencer in 2016.

The 2019 winner was an artisan bakery owner and 2017 was a confectionery seller.

I think SurAlan likes his sweet treats.

Maireas · 20/03/2022 11:49

Appropriate, given his name! Wink

Nominative determinism, maybe?

Sadly Kathryn will not be getting any business from me.

I doubt she has ever seen a fat lass in pyjama shorts.

They may be flattering but not if you haven’t anything flattering to put in them. 🤷‍♀️

And if I tried to dress the hound I walk, then there would be an incident. And not much dog pyjama left.

It is a gram kind of present and lovely for that.

On me it would be less gram - more grim.

I'm sure that you and your pooch just look fine without matching jim jams brought all the way from China.
I'd need matching gloves to cover my Nosferatu hands.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 20/03/2022 14:22

Oh to meet my friend! I have the shortest digits.

We’d make a pair. You with your long fingers encircling a cocktail bowl.

Me asking for a half pint in a stem glass so I could hold it as the night went on.

Vive la difference!!!! 😘I

If you are reading Kathryn, when you get your uk manufacturer, I’d like that palm printy one in a modal nightie. Or silk mug mug. In fat.

Thank you 😊

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 20/03/2022 14:22

Muu muu.

Mug indeed. Fat short thumb 😖

Maireas · 20/03/2022 14:33

😂😂😂😂😂😂

dillite · 20/03/2022 16:29

I feel like I was watching a completely different Akshay to everyone because I do not get all the love for him. The man didn't have a single business quality. He couldn't sell. Couldn't market. Couldn't design. All he did was behave like a cheeky chappy and everyone fell heads over heels for him. His actual contribution to tasks was 0. Same with Aaron. How he lasted as long as he did is a mystery. But then it was always between useless and hopeless each week.

bonfireheart · 20/03/2022 16:36

@dillite half decent bloke is thought of as great. Whereas the women who did get into final are pulled apart on everything from their clothes, personality and size of their mouth....

nevergoesaway · 20/03/2022 16:43

@BadHairDayExpert

OMG Have you guys seen Celebrity Apprentice Australia with Shugs and aussies (have only heard of the Veronicas and Ross Noble) but by God it is addictive viewing!!
Watching it now!! Am halfway through episode 2 and it’s proper car crash viewing! It’s great though because I love the fact that the episodes are a bit longer than the UK ones so it doesn’t seem so rushed. I’ve always thought our ones could do with being a bit longer as it seems like they cram so much into one hour.

Sugar looks very tanned and much healthier in it which I found interesting! Maybe the lighting is better? I love the way he outright admitted he didn’t have a bloody clue who any of them were 🤣

Usually on celeb shows, the hosts are sucking up to them, treating them like they’re so famous and special, but he said what we’re all thinking when we watch those types of shows haha!

ILoveYou3000 · 20/03/2022 17:27

Completely disagree about Aaron. He was okay week one but did nothing after that. He was useless. Had no sales skills, no ideas, nothing.

Akshay started slow but did have some good ideas and he had more personality than Aaron.

Harpreet was horrible to Akeem and very dismissive of others but in fairness she has been one of the strongest this year. Some of her ideas have been okay (and I only say okay as none of them have done anything great this year).

Harpreet was abrasive and bossy with Akeem but they did win. the task and they cooked edible food. considering how useless some of these people were, perhaps she took the right approach.

I think as a woman, she went out of her way to appear unemotional because that was she thought would be required. The moment at the interview someone picked up on this, she explained very quickly and in a totally nice way,

friendlyflicka · 20/03/2022 17:54

Somebody back up the thread said she would sell her sister for a fiver, where does this come from? She was totally pleasant about her sister saying they had already discussed this. Quite normal in a friendly and loving sister relationship.

dillite · 20/03/2022 18:04

See, I thought that the only reason Harpreet explained herself was because she got called out on it, not because she was trying to come across as a strong woman. She might be good, but comes across as a nasty bully. Although when you look at who she had to work with, it would have been hard not to be hard!
