I actually love that they gave Hendrix a good death ending. Classic Neighbours! I have more mixed feelings about all the oldies taking over the ending.

I know the spoiler thread folks know I was well up for a death. Like others said, I need a cathartic cry and a classic neighbours death, although I would have preferred a big disaster.

They can’t have Gary as the last main cast death on that shitty island!

I get why others don’t like it, though.

I want a tragic unrealistic death to heroically save someone else in the middle of a flood etc. Not this!! Assuming it was planned pre-axing news but now Mackenzie doesn't have any time to move through it. They'll probably just ship her off to her dad's and we'll forget all about it.

Saw an interview with Georgie Stone which said this was planned last September, so pre the axe, as Ben's contract was up.

Because they've not changed any character arcs knowing the axe is coming? They could have moved them to Sydney but with M coming back to sort stuff. They are poo heads.

I saw an article, from the Neighbours writers, I think, that said they had planned a story arc for Mackenzie after Hendrix's death, that involved her falling in love again, and getting her Happy Ever After.

But I don’t think Benjamin wanted a contract extension and like the dramatic death. I think if you are leaving and know you will never come back, you’d want a big death!

Plus it means they can’t bring the character back with a different head, @MiddleClassProblem!

I've just caught up! Omg Hendrix's death was up there with Sonya's.
I wasn't particularly a fan of Mackenzie but that episode! They all acted their socks off and did it really well.

When I read about it I did think it's not good publicity for transplants but the harsh reality is, rejection does sometimes happen.

At least it was confirmed that this story was planned last September before the axe news so it was always planned and not an axing reason.

Todays was a classic! McKenzie, Susan and Karl especially were brilliant and I only saw Hendrix move twice so that’s very good on the dead body acting. The only bad part was annoying Melanie!

Unlikely with mere weeks to go.

I was just shocked how quickly he died (zero transplant knowledge). I guess he'd slept all night too so there was that time.

If Mackenzie hadn't convinced the family, the transplant wouldn't have gone ahead and he'd still be alive. I'd feel so guilty in her shoes

When he died yesterday, DD chirped up with “Why is his chest moving?” 😂 Stop! I’m indulging in emotions here!

I ignored the obvious life signs 😂 Susan's crying was the distraction I needed, I mean I was on the edge before she broke down and she just flung me over.

Are we supposed to be OK with Harlow or are we supposed to think that she's making it about her?
I mean I'm torn because she would be griefing too, he was her ex and her friend. So why the comments about "not about me"?

I thought that too, that it was the transplant that killed him, and without it he’d be making hash browns at the kennedys and coughing now and then 😩
I didnt really understand why the hospital couldn’t use artificial breathing for him to keep him alive, but I guess another transplant would have failed also so no point? All in all seemed a very cruel and sad ending for him

Yeah basically because they'd binned his lungs and no other lungs wouldn't deteriorate the same way at the same speed so even if they ventilated him, that would be as good as it got.

What did Melanie do wrong? I thought she was great and just before he said it I thought, that'll make him propose...

I'm ok with Harlow. She's showing real emotion and empathy which is an improvement, and she would be devastated too l, she even owned that she wanted to be stronger for M.

Susan's grief and Karl's pain was just unbearable to watch. His parents should eat h those scenes for lessons on emoting for the camera.

Yes but didn’t really talk to Pierce. He didn’t send them any I love yous.

When Pierce watched it I thought the ending was different?
