Which means we don’t discuss an episode till it’s been on tv

After that it’s fair game

Anyway

When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, bomb disposal experts Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) and Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) are at the forefront of urgent efforts.

They discover a potiental bomb factory in a London housing estate

( whispers but is filmed near to blondesland)

Looks good

Love both Vicky and Adrian as actors

I did think her family were perhaps there as they were good friends, but she doesn't seem the type of person who would really mix family and friends...

MabelMoo23 · 31/01/2022 10:12

I’ll carry on watching it but it’s so stilted and clunky. Good tense moments, but the rest is quite painful

My money is on Warren Brown as the mechanic bloke and far right extremism.
The “signposting” was there for the pic of Adrian Lester’s family and the tattoos - so there’s a focus on Warren Brown (took her home, texted her etc)

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2022 11:05

I still think her boyfriend is dodgy , is he married ? I think he is stringing her along a bit.
Had a cliffhanger ending but I'm not bothered about binge watching it ( not sure if it's on the ITV hub ?)
Kerry Golidman is in Afterlife as the long suffering ( dead ) wife of Ricky Gervais , she is also a comedian. She is great , but not normally in dramas like this.

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/01/2022 11:16

Kerry Godliman was in Our Girl a few years ago, she had a serious role in that

thecatneuterer · 31/01/2022 11:34

I tried watching on ITVHub but couldn't find a subtitles icon. So I ended up missing lots of dialogue due to mumbling and background music (and in theory there is nothing wrong with my hearing). Has anyone managed to get subtitles for this on Hub?

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/01/2022 11:40

If you pause it the small S on the top right of the screen is the subtitles icon

I'll probably stick with this, purely because there's nothing else on at 9pm on a Sunday night that I'm interested in but it is dragging.

There doesn't seem to be any real cohesive plot, it's all disjointed and jumpy and every episode doesn't need to end on a cliffhanger.

thecatneuterer · 31/01/2022 11:46

@WhatICallMyUsername Ah, thank you! I was looking everywhere for that icon but hadn't worked out you needed to pause it.

mrstea301 · 31/01/2022 11:54

It's a bit weirdly paced, but it's something to watch I guess. Definitely think Karl/ Chris is involved, he'd been on their course but couldn't keep up with them and is now a mechanic. Also kind of wheedling his way in with her.

The relationship with her boyfriend is a bit odd as well. Wouldn't be surprised if he was married. It just annoys me that they have to be a couple at all, it's one of the things I like about LOD - there's no romance between Kate and Steve but it doesn't mean the stakes are lower.

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2022 12:09

Ahh, I didn't realize that Kerry was in Our Girl.

Netaporter · 31/01/2022 12:15

Kerry Godliman was also Lenny James’ love interest in Save Me. I love her, she is very talented.

I can’t seem to get anything on hub subtitled

Unlike iPlayer. That’s fab

John seems dodgy. Wasn’t impressed she’s made boss and seemed to query her

Assume as good friends with blown up msn that all would go to funeral

Something to do with white smoke I thought @LagganBubble

@thecatneuterer you have my sympathy. I am partially deaf and our Sky Q box keeps dropping subtitles which can only be fixed by turning the power off and back on. We waited until 9.15pm to start watching so we could forward the adverts. I have no idea what Lana said for most of it (apart from when she was shouting!). Everyone else I was okay with!

Needdoughnuts · 31/01/2022 13:23

Agree about there being no chemistry between Lana and boyfriend. The phone call in the pub was a bit dodgy, looked like he was trying to leave without her seeing him.
There must be something going on with the brother otherwise why have the family there?
Looking forward to the next episode.

Keep still and be quiet

Was said a lot

Seriously though I’m partially dead so understand your pain

thecatneuterer · 31/01/2022 13:59

@Blondeshavemorefun Well I frequently feel partially dead, so I'm with you there! Grin

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/01/2022 14:02

Haha my phone auto corrected it to partially dead but I spotted it

And then weirdly when I actually typed partially dead it auto corrected to deaf!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2022 14:20

😂😂😂

I do find most programmes mumble

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2022 14:27

Oh yes, Kerry was good in ' save me ' but I didn't see the last episode of it and never found out what became of the yellow padded jacket

Glitterygreen · 31/01/2022 14:28

I thought the first episode was really good, but yesterday was slow, and then as soon as I saw the woman on the telly from "English Flag" I knew which was it was going to go.

Why has everything referencing terrorism got to be either Islamist or Far Right now?? Does no one have any other ideas?! It's so dull and predictable.

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/01/2022 14:48

@Blondeshavemorefun keep still and be quiet was one of the few bits I heard her say as she was shouting! I really struggled in the debrief scene

I did find it odd that a highly trained explosives officer doesn't know how to calm down a frightened member of the public without screeching and swearing at them Hmm

Joystir59 · 31/01/2022 15:36

Bloody loving it despite if or maybe because of its many flaws. Vicky McClure's character is compelling.

Joystir59 · 31/01/2022 15:39

Want Vicky's character to really develop along the lines of: weird ex mitary PTSD, job efficiency is everything, mysterious because she is Special Ops.

PennyRoyal · 31/01/2022 15:57

So the two I'm watching at the moment - this and The Responder, thanks @Blondeshavemorefun for both threads - have Warren Brown in them. He's dodgy in one, is he in the other??
