Which means we don’t discuss an episode till it’s been on tv

After that it’s fair game

Anyway

When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, bomb disposal experts Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) and Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) are at the forefront of urgent efforts.

They discover a potiental bomb factory in a London housing estate

( whispers but is filmed near to blondesland)

Looks good

Love both Vicky and Adrian as actors

Agree with last night's episode as being somewhat preposterous. A while street of bombs potentially linked to an overstaying parked vehicle and fitted by John the fake gasman (was he ID'd, even)?; a suspect in plain sight with two phones clearly visible to a marksman waiting to pick him off...

It's all a bit Ealing Comedy. Grin

Too many bombs to keep track of now - bombs under vehicles, in vehicles, on vests. I failed to understand the point of the projectile one.

What is the connection please between the vest bomb placed on the guy in the boot of the car in the first episode (the one with the partner and daughter found in the bed) and the other bombs? As I recall, that bomb was part of an Islamist plot but it didn't seem to go anywhere...the other bombs seem to be part of a far-right agenda.

I'm still hoping for a link to Afghanistan and a plot to get at Wash as revenge.

The therapist was in the Brittas Empire , was she the one with the baby in the drawer?
Or was that someone else ? She has been in other things too I think ? She looked familiar.
Of course Lana would have lots of trauma ! She's lost two people very close to her and a man tied up in a mosque in the most stressful and brutal of ways , who wouldn't be turning to drink or not sleeping etc?
Yet one convo about ' I'm over it ' and they let her work there again!! Short of expo's clearly ..
Maybe Sonia is dodgy ? Or the man who said about the robot ? ( don't know his name ?)
Could be any of them .

the80sweregreat · 21/02/2022 11:09

Ahh, Tom said to Lana , i know who you were with at the snooker club .. how did he know ?
A tracker only gives locations ?
Unless I missed a bit there when he confronted her about it?

CharacterForming · 21/02/2022 11:33

The therapist is Pippa Heywoof. She's been in loads of stuff, but will always be Mrs Brittas to me

the80sweregreat · 21/02/2022 11:36

Oh, she is Mr Britta's wife !!
Of course
I used to love that comedy. So funny

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2022 12:08

That’s what I said - Mrs B empire

@JaniieJones

'I think she and Nut successfully defused two bombs in episode one - the toilet one and the suicide vest.'

I thought the toilet one was a fireworks pretend decoy but yes the suicide one was successfully defused I'd forgotten about that one.

Just seems so clunky and amateurish. The main suspect stood in obvious view holding 2 mobiles, after going to all that trouble you'd think he'd have been acting more covertly and maybe even had a face cover on as a disguise, John running off in a slightly comedic way, a whole street with bombs on their boilers. Wtf was Mercurio thinking. I'm not sure why I keep watching, it's strangely compelling but for all the wrong reasons.

This. It is strangely compelling, but for all the wrong reasons.

And I completely agree about the lack of chemistry between her and the two fellas. 🥶

TheVolturi · 21/02/2022 13:00

It does seem a bit bonkers the whole plot really, like someone else mentioned, what is the motive for the terrorism? A lot of it seems to be targeting Lana which is just weird.

CitrusPocket · 21/02/2022 13:10

Ahh, Tom said to Lana , i know who you were with at the snooker club .. how did he know ?

I don’t think he knew who, he just knew it wasn’t the 2 people she said as they were at work then.

Agree no chemistry with the men, though the police officer does have an amazing flat! Maybe she likes looking at the view and decor Grin Very unrealistic that he could afford that though obviously.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/02/2022 13:23

It's pretty dire isn't it?

Apparently it was created and written by one Daniel Brierly who "was new to television, and developed the series during a television bursary scheme." And it certainly shows. He was mentored by Jed Mercurio though, whatever that means.

Also could she afford a house on a leafy London street on a Met Expo police salary? I somehow doubt it.
the80sweregreat · 21/02/2022 13:51

Clears up that mystery then re her saying she was two other men instead of Karl !! 😂
I do miss bits sometimes

CharacterForming · 21/02/2022 14:46

Thom might have family money for his glam flat (or it might be an ex council high rise flat the size of a shoebox with one nice room that he's tarted up).

I'm unconvinced about Lana's place though. It might be in a dodgy area of Zone 6 and she might have some sort of army pension but even so it's an awful lot of London house for a single thirty something, and she really doesn't seem to have family money. Is it a house or a flat conversion? I guess if it's just the bottom half of a house and it's in the arse end of nowhere it might be affordable.

TitsInAbsentia · 21/02/2022 15:32

Lana's hair was really bothering me last night. She looked like one of those monks who shaves the top and leaves the sides. Grim.

Had stairs so I got the impression it was a house.
PennyRoyal · 21/02/2022 16:04

@the80sweregreat

They are going to need a whole host of people now if John ( or whoever ) has rigged up an entire street ( whilst still working their normal job !)

And this is where (I think) Karl will step in and help out.

Both DH and I shouted "Mrs Brittas!" and then "wonder if that baby is still in the drawer?"

Motnight · 21/02/2022 18:13

I am finding this very predictable. I am still watching it though 😂

Sittinginthesand · 21/02/2022 18:35

It’s pretty poor but I still seem to be watching it, mainly just enjoying shouting at the television now. She doesn’t just have no chemistry with the men she seems to positively dislike them, I keep thinking it must be part of the plot. It is so, so, so unbelievable that she’d be at work now. There must be at least three teams of bomb disposal people, they can’t be on duty all the time (and only in the day). Also why is their base a shit tip?

the80sweregreat · 21/02/2022 18:47

It is weirdly addictive, but mostly for this thread because you all seem lovely !
And we all agree how odd it is
Roll on Sunday eh ?

Fizbosshoes · 21/02/2022 19:37

I was worn out last week watching all the running and driving about going on, then they put some of this episode on Gogglebox Friday night as well ! It was frantic. I'm sad she has lost her brother though.

Bit late to the party but I saw on gogglebox too. Its nothing to do with the storyline but I'm wracking my brain trying to work out where the football fields(?) He drove to within 5 min of being outside Farringdon Station were?

The playing fields were actually in west London - Gunnersbury Park to be precise.

the80sweregreat · 21/02/2022 21:08

I think the last one is next Sunday , so a while yet! I wish they had put it on the hub.

I've seen a few Chloe episodes, but I'm not that into it really. I think the main actress is good though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2022 21:28

Ha ha. You can’t binge @the80sweregreat 😛😛😛
