Which means we don’t discuss an episode till it’s been on tv

After that it’s fair game

Anyway

When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, bomb disposal experts Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) and Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) are at the forefront of urgent efforts.

They discover a potiental bomb factory in a London housing estate

( whispers but is filmed near to blondesland)

Looks good

Love both Vicky and Adrian as actors

@TweeBee

I was surprised she was told to take time off when Lana seems to be the only one left who can actually deal with the bombs. The others are able to pass her things and maybe operate the robot at a push, but she seems to be the only one who goes near a bomb.
Me too. When they said an EXPO team would meet her brother at the field I said to DH which team would that be then Hmm
melj1213 · 14/02/2022 10:23

To leave an A to Z with targets in his locker would seem a bit of a clanger, doesn't everyone have maps on their phones nowadays?

It's definitely stupid to bring his terrorist research to his day job but using paper maps rather than online resources is sensible if you don't want to leave an evidence trail - an A-Z can easily be destroyed/markings explained away as coincidence (especially if it is an old book and there may be years worth of map routes marked out/landmarks highlighted etc so easy to disguise bomb targets within that) - whereas a digital trail is harder to disguise as there will be records of what places and routes were looked up/mapped out, when and where they were accessed from.

SueSaid · 14/02/2022 10:29

'His phone battery died whilst he was driving there so we can let her off THAT part'

Ah right! Missed that Grin

WhatICallMyUsername · 14/02/2022 11:27

Doesn't explain why he had no phone charger in the car though HmmGrin

melj1213 · 14/02/2022 11:40

Even if he did have a phone charger then I'm pretty sure they would have advised him not to plug it in

WhatICallMyUsername · 14/02/2022 11:50

Which would have actually made more sense in the plot than him not having one!

thecatneuterer · 14/02/2022 12:07

@Ingles2

is it me or is the sound just terrible on this? .. really muffled and distant I think just to add to the general crapness.
I'm so glad you posted this. I recorded it on my freeview box thing and can't work out how you do that with subtitles. I tried to watch it last night. I had to keep the remote in my hand all the time so I could whack it up to nearly maximum during conversation, and then quickly dial it right down when there was any background music, or explosions or similar. And even then I couldn't make out quite a bit of the dialogue. And then of course the adverts would deafen you if I couldn't get to the ff button in time. I was really questioning last night if my hearing was starting to be affected by age and if I should go for a hearing test.
absolutelynotfabulous · 14/02/2022 13:18

I'm getting very confused now. I think I may need to watch from the beginning because I feel I've missedchunks.

I'm beginning to wonder if Wash is being set up. I also think John is a dupe and he's being used to set up Wash, the others being in on it.

Why is Wash the only one going near the bombs? The only other one who has was Nut and he's no more, also blown up.

Who's set Billy up? Is he a convenient stooge to reel Wash in?

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2022 13:26

I love Kerry Goldiman in anything she does , but this is a role too far ! Although I guess I should be pleased it's a woman who knows all this complex stuff about bombs and materials etc , (to be fair to her. )
I'd give up being an expo if I were Lana. I still think it's dodgy Thom or Karl that are setting her up though and not John.
Thom was too quick to stop her following him.
She shouldn't have told him about the A to Z map.
It's good they managed to get the car to a fairly safe place but Billy didn't stand a chance there :(
More funerals. It's a very depressing drama.

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2022 14:10

It's very slow as well isn't it?
I can't believe there are two more episodes to go, maybe they will all get blown up? At least they won't make series two if that happens ..

Needdoughnuts · 14/02/2022 14:26

I expect we are supposed to believe Thom is involved but he's probably just ineffectual. Lana keeps asking him about updates etc but I bet the requests for info are still on his desk. But then he has this urge to keep her close which sounds dodgy so I'm not sure. Yes, John must be innocent and if it's not Karl, Danny maybe? We're running out of people unless someone new appears next week. Which will be extremely annoying.

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2022 14:46

She is a two timer..
It is unusual for the woman in dramas like this to be this way though and they are not even living together so I know I shouldn't judge her ( plus it's not true ! )
Zero chemistry with either of them though , I'm not convinced.
Might end up being the bomb expert Sonia doing it all ? She has all the knowledge.
It looks so hot too , they must have filmed this during a heatwave.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/02/2022 17:13

I think the boyfriend has not told his boss they're in a relationship and probably should have done. That's as far as his dodginess goes.

AntAndDecking · 14/02/2022 22:14

A minor point but her family feel like a local London family - going to Nut’s funeral etc but she and Billy have northern accents?

Gardeningcreature · 14/02/2022 22:28

I think the casting was good with Billy, he looks like Lana.
I also think it's totally believable that she would be shagging both men in such a stressful job, plenty of people do that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2022 07:37

@Gardeningcreature that’s what I said

OP posts:
Clawdy · 15/02/2022 21:16

Lana needs a female friend! Her working and social life is all about men.

MaryStuart · 15/02/2022 22:02

Just caught up on all 4 episodes and this thread. The comments on the thread are great!
I am enjoying TP, but there are definitely plot holes. I’ll carry in with it though.
I wonder now, what with the demise of Billy and Nut, if it’s someone with a grudge specifically against Lana. Doesn’t explain the poor dude in the mosque though??!

TheVolturi · 17/02/2022 13:16

I love Vicky McClure but not in this role. I think it's Karl behind it all.

CharacterForming · 17/02/2022 17:00

I'm enjoying it in a rubbishy sort of way. Quite like the theory that Ginger John is undercover trying to find the wrongun and Thom knows it which is why he's being so cagey.

Someone on Shrine made the suggestion that had already occurred to me, that Lana is actually the bad guy, but it seems a bit implausible that she'd allow her brother to be killed.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2022 13:08

I was worn out last week watching all the running and driving about going on, then they put some of this episode on Gogglebox Friday night as well ! It was frantic. I'm sad she has lost her brother though.
I don't think Lana is a ' baddie' ( I'm always wrong ) but I think it would be a bit of a cop out if she turns out to be a wrong un. But who knows eh? She might be.
It'll probably be a random person we don't know yet or something?
Will she ditch her boyfriend now she has slept with Karl ? Could be awkward

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2022 21:10

After the emu post in 22kids I’m now seeing emu via Lana

Hope she is feeling guilty

OP posts:
didihearthatright123456 · 20/02/2022 21:13

Anyone else think it’s the new boyfriend Karl who is the bad un?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2022 21:15

Grown woman should not wear dungarees

Neither should toddlers

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2022 21:16
