It’s such a silly tale, the storylines are stale, ‘It’s gone to pot!’, we wail; we’ll try to give it up - but fail.

Oh I thought Paul and Billy were back together?! Oops!

thenightsky · 22/01/2022 14:59

I thought Paul and Billy were together since Todd's downfall at the nude calendar presentation thing.

NCTDN · 22/01/2022 16:03

So we've seen one quad - he's very cute Wink

mycatisannoying · 22/01/2022 16:08

I don't know if I can carry on watching Coronation Street. In fact, it should be renamed Carry On Corrie Hmm
The characters are SO insanely annoying. And the behaviour of so-called professionals is unbelievable. Craig? Headteacher woman? Funeral guy?
The wind-up factor is overtaking the enjoyment factor!
Anyone else feel like this, or am I being a grumpy cow?
I do actually love EastEnders though.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 22/01/2022 16:14

Oh yeah, it's doing wonders for Mastermind (I watch this on a Monday as Coronation street is becoming unwatchable)

Also, dreadful Question of Sport is still preferable to unwatchable Coronation Street. (I like Paddy McGuinnes but I preferred the old format.)

Found his crutch in the boot of the car. Then they labour the 'crutch' gag. I like Craig but the current storyline is rubbish.

Dev and Bernie together. Ugh, what a cringe.

The homeless guy now works at Speed Dhal and his friendship with Yasmeen is deepening. Really ?

WomanStanleyWoman · 22/01/2022 16:39

He really looked like he could be Chesney and Gemma’s son.

I still think Bernie is the best piece of casting though. If you put Gemma’s face into one of those ‘How will you age?’ apps, you’d get Bernie!

What are the quads called? I can only remember Aled.

Even Gemma and Ches just refer to them as ‘the quads.’

BrambleRoses · 22/01/2022 16:43

In general though this was the problem with the ‘Oliver’ storyline - there was no sense of loss of an actual person, loved by Leanne with his own funny little quirks. We never saw Oliver until the very end.

Honeyroar · 22/01/2022 16:43

Cerys was mentioned this week. Can’t remember the others.

BrambleRoses · 22/01/2022 16:45

Aled, Bryn, Carys and Llio according to Wikipedia!

SomeOwlsCoo · 22/01/2022 16:48

Quads are Aled, Llio (I think thats the spelling), Cerys and Bryn.

Crutch storyline needs to be adapted into a Hollywood movie.

I really hope the Ches/Gemma/Social services storyline doesn't end up with some/all of the DC going into care. It would be nice to see SS helping them get better housing, free childcare and all the benefits they are entitled to. They aren't bad parents to the invisible quads, just skint.

Daisymaybe60 · 22/01/2022 16:48

The cutie on the sofa this week was Bryn.

BrambleRoses · 22/01/2022 16:51

I don’t know, to be honest. I know there are presumably casting reasons and not actually intent to portray Gemma and Ches as bad parents but I wonder if there’s more to the quads being permanently upstairs and silent than we think?

SomeOwlsCoo · 22/01/2022 16:53

Corrie children have always been largely upstairs and silent though. The quads even more so due to covid I would imagine.

BrambleRoses · 22/01/2022 16:56

I know, it’s just they are really stretching credibility with four silent three year olds Grin

It’s silly as all that’s needed is for them to be at nursery - they’d be entitled to nursery now anyway, or just go to the magic free one Glory goes to!

Invisible corrie children are -

Jake
Aled, Bryn, Carys and Llio
Harry
Glory has vanished again, I think?

I’m sure I remember seeing a lot of children in the old old days. Claire peacock had Joshua and another boy - can’t remember his name. Bethany used to be reasonably visible, as was Amy Barlow as a toddler.

SomeOwlsCoo · 22/01/2022 17:01

Lily and Ruby are largely invisible too. They appear occasionally.
Sarah barely even mentions Harry. Poor forgotten Child.

I agree it's totally unrealistic.

Akire · 22/01/2022 17:18

Sam, Liam, Daniels baby been so long forgotten his name. Unnamed but perfect foster child of Imran, enough to keep teens coming up.

September we have hope, Jack, Joseph, I Sam, Liam, off high school with Ruby and Lilly not far behind plenty of trouble there

WomanStanleyWoman · 22/01/2022 17:46

I think they’re still having to be careful about having too many people on the set, so we’re seeing children even less often than in the past because they have to be chaperoned.

I forgot about baby Bertie!

MrsScrubbingbrush · 22/01/2022 18:57

@SomeOwlsCoo

I forgot about baby Bertie!
Don't worry, so has Daniel
Rhannion · 23/01/2022 00:33

The scriptwriters have painted themselves in a corner with the quads. They should have made it twins, far more believable.

ChChCherryCola · 24/01/2022 11:27

My daughter walked in while I was watching Corrie and she laughed when she saw Zeedan and said "his hair! It looks like a hat!". So even the youngsters think it's a ridiculous style. I just thought I wasn't with it Grin

eggandonion · 24/01/2022 13:04

Itv news is going to be an hour long, so Emmerdale at 7.30
This will mess with my head. Corrie is 7.30.Shock

PennyRoyal · 24/01/2022 16:04

Yes, permanent schedule change from March - Coronation St will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday at 8pm for an hour.

Always and forever it's been 7:30 (initially on Mon/Wed only), an historical change.

Akire · 24/01/2022 16:15

Oh no that’s going mess with head. I watch eastenders at 8 on Mondays and Fridays and 730 Tuesdays and Thursdays always around Corrie. Is it moving to 830? Or will I have mess around waiting for iplayer to get it up around 840/850?
