I remember as a little girl watching Anna Karen as Olive in the execrable 'On The Buses'. My mum said that she was probably extremely attractive in real life, but that they'd made her up to look awful and drab. I was very curious about that. And my mum was right - a lot of tv in the 1960s and 70s was dolly birds vs harridans. It really woke me up to a lot of things as a rebellious female teenager.

Anna Karen was a fine actor and I'm very sorry that she died in such a tragedy.

Even as a very young child in the 70s I realized that the character Olive from ' on the buses ' was being manipulated by nasty men who clearly hated women and only wanted them to have an hour glass figure and blond hair and be subservient etc etc. She deserved more, poor thing.
It wasn't one of comedies finest hours to be honest:( but typical of its time.
I'm glad that the Aunt Sal character was completely different, even if she wasn't on EE that much and was just Peggy's sidekick!
It is sad that she has died in such tragic circumstances.

Oh gosh! I remember her in On the abuses with Reg Varney etc. one of those programs that if you watched now you would be horrified.
I thought at first she was quite old and died. But the circumstances are truly tragic

I agree they should show more women being successful, kathy and kat have lots to do with all their businesses and families but they always show them busy and struggling to juggle rather than smashing it.

I think struggling is far more realistic than smashing it though.

With Kim, I don't think she is entirely happy - she showed just how upset she still is over Vincent in that recent storyline. I think she manages to hold it together and keep her cheerful, enthusiastic character regardless though. She is strong despite looking flakey.

Bad coats is a thing on EE. Everyone on the market has to have a bad coat. Kathy especially has to have one to counteract all the treatments that make her look younger.
