On tonight at 9.00, it stars Claire Foy and it's from the same people who did A Very English Scandal a few years ago.

Xyzzzzz · 26/12/2021 19:44

Love Claire Foy

IcedPurple · 26/12/2021 20:14

Looks right up my street. Vintage settings, pretty posh people and some delicious scandal. And Claire Foy too!

Looking forward to it.

OrinoccoFlew · 26/12/2021 21:25

Where are they filming the speedboat scenes - it looks beautiful

LadyEloise1 · 26/12/2021 21:30

Watching.
Thank you @southeastdweller for starting the thread.
I hope this a no spoiler thread ?
I'm not able to get the BBC iplayer.

Just realised that the ghaaastly Lady Colin Campbell, of IACGMOOH fame is related to this lot.

LadyEloise1 · 26/12/2021 21:56

I know !!!

Palavah · 26/12/2021 22:01

Well, that was extremely disappointing. Looks gorgeous but takes itself rather seriously. None of the lightness or humour of A Very English Scandal.

IcedPurple · 26/12/2021 22:04

I really liked it. Lots of gorgeous clothes, intrigue, scandal and a Scottish castle!

Great Christmas viewing.

Only through marriage and her husband divorced her when he discovered she was born a man and was a hermaphrodite.
sweatervest · 26/12/2021 22:21

i loved it. claire foy is still deeply fabulous, according to me.

southeastdweller · 26/12/2021 22:29

Very enjoyable, well paced and acted. Claire Foy and Paul Bettany make a really good team.

Palavah · 26/12/2021 22:32

They were totally devoid of chemistry!

PuppyMonkey · 26/12/2021 22:35

I liked it a lot too. Yeah they had no chemistry, almost like she only married him for the castle or something.

IcedPurple · 26/12/2021 22:37

Weren't they kind of meant to have 'no chemistry'? I've not looked into the actual story, and am going to try to avoid doing so until I've finished the series, but it seems like a classic case of she married him for the title and he married her for the money. Kind of a transactional relationship on both sides.

StormyCornishSeas · 26/12/2021 22:47

Really enjoyed it. Claire Foy is fab

Where is it filmed. Been to InverarayCastle but don't quite remember looking like that

Piggyinblankets · 26/12/2021 22:55

That definitely is Inveraray.

Wingedharpy · 26/12/2021 22:57

I'm married to a posh Scot.
Thank God he's not this posh!
What horrible people.

StormyCornishSeas · 26/12/2021 23:08

@Piggyinblankets

That definitely is Inveraray.
Thank you! The more I looked at it the more I was convinced it was
ExquisitelyDecorated · 26/12/2021 23:24

I enjoyed it, I have family connections to Inverary in the same era but was only vaguely aware of the story. They are all pretty horrible and I felt sorry for the children.

NomDePrune · 26/12/2021 23:33

I liked it but couldn't get over Clare Foy also playing the Queen in the Crown - similar look, accent and time period. Totally different character of course. Also I just don't think looks naughty enough...

Lavendersquare · 26/12/2021 23:46

Really enjoyed the first episode, but can someone explain the letter she forged at the end? It's left me very confused 🤔

CHEM20 · 26/12/2021 23:49

All becomes clear in Episode 2.
AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 26/12/2021 23:57

I enjoyed it but felt it was oddly lacking in Scottish people. I know very posh people wouldn’t have Scottish accents but even the secretary and Edinburgh court voices were English. Claire Foy is excellent. But the script or direction could have done with some lightness.

PermanentTemporary · 27/12/2021 01:00

Gave up on episode 1. A bit confusing and getting nastier and nastier.
