HM The Queen: Christmas Day Message

I felt so sad for The Queen - it is the first time I have felt she is genuinely much more frail now and she was very open about the loss of Prince Phillip and how missed he is. I felt many people will relate to her message this year.

Absolutely. She clearly misses Phillip immensely.

Harry and Andrew conspicuous by their absence I thought...

celebrityskin · 25/12/2021 15:33

So sad! She misses Phillip. And looked very thin...

AnneShirleysNewDress · 25/12/2021 15:34

And to add to it all, an armed man was arrested in the grounds of Windsor Castle this morning.

CagneyNYPD1 · 25/12/2021 15:37

I have watched the Queen on Christmas Day for many years. This year felt really emotional and far more personal for her than other years. I think we all just need to appreciate her for as long as possible. And I'm not particularly a royalist.

BackBackBack · 25/12/2021 15:40

I haven't watched TQS for years but wanted to this year, because it feels like it might be the last one. The queen looks very frail and she's lost a lot of weight.

I thought the personal message about losing loved ones was very heartfelt. And the choir were fab - the choir director looked like he was having a blast!

Not surprised to see the Sussexes didn't feature - they aren't working Royals.

GrazingSheep · 25/12/2021 15:43

Harry and Andrew conspicuous by their absence I thought...

As were Princess Anne
And Edward and Sophie..

Me neither, although I think I would prefer our Royal family to an elected Head of State like Trump/Putin/Johnson.

I though there were times HM was finding it hard to actually keep talking- her mouth looked different and as if her lips were finding it difficult.

Mary Poppins on here now- DC entranced. DH asleep.

I was actually quite shocked at how frail and deminished she looked. She looked quite ill and sad and didn't seem to have her sparkle.

lollipoprainbow · 25/12/2021 15:51

Her face looked different I thought

GreenClock · 25/12/2021 15:56

I’m pro republic so have no interest in the Queen, but I saw a clip on the news. I actually thought she looked quite well. The colour of the dress was great on her. She’s always been petite but yes, she looked thinner (although not frail imo).

VaginaRegina · 25/12/2021 15:58

Possibly focus just on the direct line (apparently Charles is v keen on this) means no troublesome mentions of Andrew or Harry. Bit harsh on Anne, Edward and Sophie though.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 25/12/2021 15:59

I saw Anne, Edward and Sophie. Although possibly just in the historical footage.

user1471530109 · 25/12/2021 16:03

Anne, Sophie and Edward were all included in the videos?!

I agree she looked thin, but I didn't think she looked unwell or frail particularly? But I have known 90+ year old relatives who looked a lot older than HM.

I thought it was quite emotional. Even my 12 yr old DD watched and listened.

Same here. She is such an institution.

Yes I thought the same Sad
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/12/2021 16:58

I never watch the speech but this year I was cooking so heard it in the radio, brought a tear to my eye when she was talking about Philip. Sad

diddl · 25/12/2021 17:10

Married for 73 yrs.

I'm sure she's finding it very difficult without Philip-they were married for longer than some people live!

Riapia · 25/12/2021 17:13

I thought it was the best speech she has ever done.
Possibly because it came from the heart.
Her voice has altered, yes, but it sounded firm and clear.

Yes I agree.
flowerycurtain · 25/12/2021 17:16

I was quite moved by it. She does look frail now. I thought what she said was very emotional, handing over the baton etc.

Also noted the Harry and Andrew a absences!

Nailsbythesea · 25/12/2021 17:18

She looked very thin

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 25/12/2021 17:23

handing over the baton etc.

I wondered if this was sowing a seed for Charles to take on most of her duties, perhaps after her jubilee has passed.

Meltinthemiddle · 25/12/2021 17:27

I was shocked at how much weight she has lost and there was definitely something different with her face. She didn't have the same sparkle. I hope she makes it to her jubilie.

Meltinthemiddle · 25/12/2021 17:31

Something to do with her eyes she looked tired and maybe in pain 😔

Yes - all the 'Magnificent Seven' were in the montage - for they are the ones who are doing all the Stuff the Queen can no longer manage. That aspect was very much focussed on the Institutuon
