I would like a presenter that knows about dancing, then they could share that knowledge rather than just stating the obvious like 'they're on their feet' etc which we can see for ourselves.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 20/12/2021 22:36

As they should sunshine 🙂

Bouledeneige · 20/12/2021 22:56

I loved the final which I watched on Sunday. I was crying a lot and so glad Rose and Gio won. She was such a joy all season and I loved to see their mutual respect and care. I think it will be so so hard for Strictly to match it next year. I loved AJ too - she was such a talented dancer and I adored her attitude and zest for life. But I just couldn't warm to John and Johannes. Because Johannes is so lithe and expressive for me he always out danced John and made him look (to me) stiff and lumpen. I just didn't think they were as good as the other finalists.

I'm glad it was such a diverse line up for the final but because they were the best dancers not because of anything else.

But I do have to say that my high point of the final was Alijaz and 's dance. They were extraordinary and showed what really is 10 out of 10 dancing. A league apart from the celebrity dancers. It makes you realise how much the professionals have to adapt to dance with amateurs.

TheMadGardener · 21/12/2021 00:16

Dan put a lovely video on his Facebook which shows loads of the celebs and pros coming into his and Nadiya's dressing room just before the final and generally larking about. Sara is handing out gin in a tin and everyone seems to be having a high old time. Worth watching if you're interested.

lollipoprainbow · 21/12/2021 03:58

The thought of Claudia and AJ even worse as presenters together. What's wrong with Tess being old fashioned ?! Still can't believe people are so keen to get her out of a job. The presenters don't need to know about dancing that's the judges job.

SOLINVICTUS · 21/12/2021 06:37

Namechanger but usually posted on all these threads since the earliest days of Strictly. Didn't post this year as decided to just watch and wallow in comfort telly and reading some early threads found some comments (not, from what I could tell inasmuch as you can from a site with namechangers, from regulars) unpleasantly misogynistic (Tess, AJ, Motsi) or just downright unpleasant (Dan, Tom)
Anyhow, to anyone taken in by the gutter press's take on Motsi's face, I can heartily recommend Ariadne's Strictly review where she nails it.
TL:DR- racist British media disses black woman, not even for having an opinion, but just for being caught on camera.

I'll be watching next year, I may come back to post. It's been a ball (mainly) (both show dances were meh though) and in the words of Rose and Giovanni, "thank you, thank you, thank you" Wink Wine

i watched rose and giovanni on bbc breakfast, which was really great and heart warming

I never thought of that before with Alijaz but good point.

I just don’t like her presenting style and think it feels tired. Presenters don’t need to know about dance though, I agree.

Re Motsi, I agree she’s been given an unreasonably rough ride and her response was fair and proportionate. Her facial expression was nothing remarkable or bad IMO.

herecomesthsun · 21/12/2021 10:51

@Bimblybomeyelash

I think Motsi’s expression looked as much like a holding in tears face, as it did a pissed off face.
Maybe she was thinking about her sister winning last year? or anything really?

Totally agree

Yes I don't know why they don't showcase their own dancers more and get rid of the singing act! It is really great to see two professionals dancing together at such a high standard.

BasiliskStare · 21/12/2021 15:39

@IntermittentParps - I agree with you Tess seems dull & wooden but as I have said before I suspect she is benefiting from if isn't broken don't fix it.

Re Motsi - I am not her biggest fan but in a live show you could take a photograph of one second & it looks like that was the whole deal. In a show that long - who could honestly say they could smile for every second. My cheeks would hurt . I thought that was a naughty picture. Nothing about her made me think she was pissed off.

Juniper68 · 21/12/2021 16:05

I tried to find aljaz and janette's dance to show dh? Is it on YouTube?

I wholly agree!

I'd LOVE just to watch an evening of dancing. I'll bet we all would - the singing acts are almost always complete rubbish.

If you can't find it on there they definitely had a video of it on the Strictly Facebook page.
TitsInAbsentia · 21/12/2021 16:42

@Juniper68 Enjoy....and for those who saw if the first time, enjoy again! They can surely dance...

Just noticed he said 'thank you' to her at the end....TOO CUTE!

Juniper68 · 21/12/2021 17:12

Thank you Smile

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 21/12/2021 17:23

There's a rumour AJ & Kai will be back in 2022 to perform the show dance they would have done.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/12/2021 18:15

I'd love to see AJ' & Kai's show dance.

Rather than random filler, it would have been good to have replayed the two dances that AJ was due to perform again to mix the dynamic up.

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 21/12/2021 19:41

That would have been a good idea @BogRollBOGOF!

StucklnAChimneyCantGetOutOflt · 21/12/2021 21:35

It's what I wanted bog - Kai deserved to stand next to a star, AJ deserved to show off that dress. It could have been dealt with by Tess with a 'You cannot vote for AJ's performances tonight as they are repeats and won't be scored, but we wanted to honour her.''
She goes first - the jive, the charleston then when it came to the showdance, any footage from training and an interview with her.
I suspect they chose not to, as:
they think the gbp are dumb and would moan they couldn't vote
they thought it might tarnish the other two
Shame as the filler/manipulated totes emosh bullshittery ruined the final for me. Bah humbug!

BonnesVacances · 21/12/2021 23:30

AJ is listed on the wiki page as withdrawn, not even a finalist or third place. Angry

sunshineclouds24 · 22/12/2021 11:41

So, have you seen Oti has been revealed as new judge on Dancing on Ice from Jan. Surely this signals the end of her time on Strictly.
Also will she is be judging Brendan Cole?!!

ChessieFL · 22/12/2021 12:04

It doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t continue on Strictly - DoI doesn’t clash at all with Strictly, and she judged two series of The Greatest Dancer while continuing on Strictly. However, TGD was also a BBC show so the move to ITV may signal the cutting of ties with the BBC and therefore Strictly. And putting all that aside I wouldn’t be surprised if she moved on, she’ll be due a long run of duffers now having won it twice in a row!
