J and J looked a bit the same as they always do, IMO. I still don't think John has moved on/stepped it up a notch. Felt for Johannes though; he was clearly beating himself up about giving John the wrong hand. I thought they both styled it out very well
Rose and Giovanni were charming but a bit underwhelming, although maybe because they followed Rhys. The lift was REALLY underwhelming IMO, especially after all the build-up. 'there was a split second when they weren't touching!' Um, OK, perhaps but a) I didn't see it even in slow-mo and b) so what? Do they not remember Oti launching herself off a dock into Danny Mac's arms?!? Still, they're sweet and I do like them. I think they'll win.
Dan: OK, and his acting/performing has massively improved, but it was right that he went. The voting public does have a way of voting for less good dancers for long enough to say 'Good on you' but then letting them down gently when shit gets serious. I'll miss them; he brought out a fun, warm, light side of Nadiya that was really heartwarming to see.
AJ: despite the frothing about her looking like a queen etc, I thought she looked self-conscious and stiff even before the lift went wrong. The salsa didn't suit her –maybe it was the choreo? All those backward leg flicks and little kicks just made her look ungainly. Rubbish music medley too. Still, I'm glad she survived the DO and was impressed that she pulled off the lift second time round; that takes nerves of steel.
Rhys: amazing. Mature, as Anton said; partnered Nancy convincingly and beautifully; looked terrific in his suit. Good on him.
