I was actually disappointed Joe and Diane's extracurricular didn't filter into their dance tbh...was hoping they would have chemistry and fire and sizzle would naturally seep into their AT. Instead we had the Peaky Blinders theming whilst he chucked money at her like a pimp.

Don’t say that, Sequins. Joe and Diane’s Peaky Blinders AT is one of my all time fave dances. Joe was out of his comfort zone, a bit like Dan in many of his dances - the slightly awkward man paired with a hot female thing that we talked about on a recent thread - which is partly why I really enjoyed Dan and Nadiya’s tango.

Deaf and hard of hearing are classified as disabilities. So yes if Rose wins, which i really hope she does, she would be the first person to win with a disability.

Poor AJ did look overwhelmed and nervous through the dance-off. Maybe she's been pushing her body harder than her mind and emotions can keep pace with. I hope she manages to get some rest.

It's true that Johannes might make John look an even better dancer if he toned down his own remarkably swivelly skills, but I think they're both aware that they are making TV history (gay men partnered on a family show) and I don't think either of them would settle for less than putting heart and soul into it 100%.

I don't really get the feverish excitement about Kai, although he seems like a nice man. But... that new South African dancer, Cameron... I don't know what it is about him, but cor!!!!!!!!!!!! Really bizarre for me, my first TV crush since about 1973 🤨

It was Dan's time to go and I'm glad for him that his last dance was one he could be proud of. He was very gracious which is what I would have expected.

I thought the thing about turning lights on was lovely. He was saying she is an inspiring and lovely human ,as well as a great dancer. Nadiya seemed bland to me before. I really appreciate her warmth, teaching and hard work this year and he has showcased that.

I agree, I thought it was a beautiful way to phrase it.

I've been a fan of Dan, but agree that he was the right person to go. I really want Rose and AJ to get through to the final and don't mind if the third person is Rhys or John.

I liked it after the Dance Off when Dan said "I'd have voted for AJ and Kai, too" !
Through the competition he's been voting for Rose.

re AJ does Kai actually choreograph the dance? or do they have choreographers and Kai just Teaches?

I know they sometimes have help, but think the pros have a lot of input. Maybe not Kai’s fault then - I am a fan ;) - but whoever’s responsible must’ve known it was a risk too far for a long-limbed girl like AJ, however much of a fab dancer she is.

They had an outside choreographer.

And Nadiya is way too professional for that.

Cordelia/bluffin I loved the music. I can even semi-buy the idea of a baby-faced assassin (you had baby face Nelson)...but I didn't get menace or danger from it nor that they were shagging, which I think they were by then. He was very sweet and wholesome was Joe, so although he deserved to be a finalist, he didn't sell sexy gangster to me. Maybe at 1.19 if I slow-mo it.

I’m sure that was a “ plan b” ending from AJ and Kai, one they knew could be executed cleanly, but it wasn’t the face climbing dusAAA-ster they attempted before.

Dan done well, but he is the weakest dancer at this stage, so it’s time to say goodbye, with good grace.

A good outcome tonight. Dan finished on a high, and like Tilly, with a lot of dignity. Loved the lobster bit on their last dance.

Good to see AJ's dance done better too. It's probably better for her to have done her dance justice in the dance off and move on than scrape through knowing it went wrong.

At least I'm guarenteed 2 out of my long-running top 3 in the final and TBH as long as Rose goes through which should be favourable, and with Rhy's recent gear change and John still being fairly plateaued, all are worthy finalists. I would like to see AJ reach the final too. She's not been quite as consistent as Rose, but she's usually a beautiful dancer and has had the journey element too.

With the regular comments about Johannes outdancing John, aside from the competition side of it, I love watching them dance as a couple. I love their joy of it and watching them as a pair of dancers. I do feel that John is disadvantaged for dancing in a single sex couple with the criticism of Johannes dancing around him being stronger than in conventional couplings like Dan/ Nadiya or Tom/ Amy. Johannes is a beautiful mover and female pros aren't usually criticised so much for twirling around their male contestant. There does seem to be a difference of expectation.

Ah I liked Dan and not just cos I would have got £130 quid on my wild card bet if he won. I voted for him the first time last night because I did enjoy his dance

I remember you saying that weeks ago OnTheBoard, and was thinking you may have some hope after all. It wasn’t to be, but you got a lot closer to your potential winnings than I thought you would.

Does anyone know why Nadiya wasn't a pro last year? Was it COVID travel restriction related? I googled her and she has a Slovenian footballer boyfriend and a 4 yr old daughter. Presumably she lives in Slovenia most of the year and her daughter often comes with her to the UK.

Continuing as a pro once her daughter starts school might be tricky. I wondered if she hoped Dan's fan base would take them to the glitter ball and that was part of her tearful disappointment last night.

I doubt that very much. She only has to look at Rose and John and AJ to know that that was always unlikely in the extreme, and I suspect that, like Dan, she's pleasantly surprised he got even this far.

I also suspect Dan is quite relieved to be out, learning two dances in a week might well have been a bridge too far for him.

I agree it was the right result tonight, Dan going out on a high, being very gracious in defeat, and AJ pulling the lift off this time.

I wish all four couples could be in the final, but as long as AJ and Rose get there, I’ll be happy. (Even though I won’t actually see most of the final live as I’m working 😭)

For me the 'outdancing' isn't Johannes twirling around John, it's that when they're dancing the same steps Johannes does them with miles more flair and he may put in an extra head movement, or an extra shimmy etc., etc. The fact that they're both men highlights it more.

I love Rose and Gio. They seem to have such a great relationship. Her reaction to Gio when he was describing the Argentine tango was so funny! I'm sure it's not what he usually expects
