And if so I'm conflicted as I don't particularly like Wendy and haven't missed her either!

Utter pish from the writers re the age gap. My sister is 9 years older than me and we certainly weren't children together. In fact we grew up as two only children. I can't remember much about us doing anything together as we were barely in the same place at the same time, so how this stuff can have happened with an 18 year gap is nonsense.

I thought the same when Vanessa said her GF was called Fi - yes this is the land of ridiculous coincidences.

As if somebody who was being wheeled through the village yesterday would suddenly be fit to fly to Ibiza - FFS. Yet nuuuuuurse Meena was believed again. I never thought I'd be relishing the return of Wendy, but if it puts an end to this tripe, I'll welcome her back with open arms

I think I prefer Emma Barton when she tied her husband up and held him hostage then appeared in a wedding dress and held a chicken aloft much more sinister or even Lachlan when he held the blond one hostage much better villains . They keep using the same story storylines

So meena’s comment last night about “just like when we were children” is obviously nonsense. They were never children at the same time.

I’ve never understood why the producers casted two siblings of established characters at the same time using actors who were far too young for the roles. Mackenzie would have to be about 40 for his backstory to make sense (Emmerdale Wiki says he’s 42!) The actor is 30, I believe; and the character is portrayed as around that age or even younger. Why?!

I saw this post before I saw the episode, but I like to think I would have picked up on the oh-so-subtle hints of Vanessa’s imminent return anyway

They don’t do subtle anymore. They mustn’t teach that in soap writers’ school these days.

It certainly isn't how to write a gripping story that keeps the viewers hooked or how to adapt when a crisis happens or how to think up any remotely original storylines.

Scriptwriter School curriculum

Day 1: this is the clue hammer, use it liberally in every episode, viewers are stupid- you need to batter them with the hints about what is to happen. Otherwise they won’t know what is about to happen until it happens.

Day 2: viewers love explosions. One a year is a good target to aim for. Keep them interested.

Day 3: just like in your normal real life, eavesdropping is how everyone finds out everything, especially when it’s something they shouldn’t hear.

Day4: comedy- just put Marlon and paddy on screen together- the viewers will understand this means they should laugh.

Day 5: murder is the easiest thing to write, watch Scream and maybe give silence of the lambs a glance over. You’ll be grand.

I wonder if the insane disparity in ages was because Meena and the murder story was originally planned for Manpreets daughter? She was hustled off really quickly due to the actress having said homophobic (?) Things on Twitter. I have no idea why I’m trying to give the writers an excuse, it doesn’t explain the rest of the Benny Hill escapades the other characters have been enjoying or the awful Meena plot in general.

If they had originally planned for it to be manpreets daughter and then had to quickly find a new character there was no reason it couldn’t have been a realistically aged sister. And even if they couldn’t find someone in that age bracket and had to have a 20 year younger actress they didn’t have to make all these silly references to their shared childhood together.

Didn’t Meena ruin her sisters marriage too? You are right just no excuse for the shoddy narrative, it’s pointless and doesn’t add anything to the story. Once they clear up this story line they will be rubbing their hands together over the pub storyline…I wonder how implausible they can make that? I’m betting that a letter is delivered by a solicitor from 100 years in the past just as the diggers go in (like back to the future pt3), saying the land can never be developed into homes as it was an old pub landlord burial ground.

I really hope I am wrong but I'm wondering , after Meena said if our dad could see us now, especially, and the horrible kiss that there is some abuse.

Producers and writers say soaps can be good at informing and raising awareness but I'm so sick of sexual and childhood abuse being used in entertainment shows. People who have experienced it don't need the in your face reminders, those who have been lucky don't need telling about it and it is never entertaining.
