Strictly '21 #11: Craig's found his 10 paddle early this year! Will we get another glimpse soon?

Spoiler-free thread

Previous thread here.

Next week will be interesting. Sara's q/s might be nice, but 9–5 theming is probably going to be annoying. AJ might be great at the Charleston, or her Bambi legs might re-appear. I hope Jojo gets his choreographical mojo back, I haven't really got properly into their last few dances and rumba is a tricky one!

OP posts:
EvilRingahBitch · 02/11/2021 16:53

Those moves in the FB clips were all wearing their opening credits outfits so I think they probably got them to do a job lot of moves for each dance back then.

RockLobstersAndHauntedGymsIsIt · 02/11/2021 16:55

Song's a bop! Grin Rhys should be safe on this?

RockLobstersAndHauntedGymsIsIt · 02/11/2021 16:57

Trad paso for Tom.

RockLobstersAndHauntedGymsIsIt · 02/11/2021 17:01

Based on music alone, I would have Johannes and John back at the top.
If they ignore all the strictly curse bollocks, and just go for it, it could bring tingles down my spine.

Seedandyarn · 02/11/2021 17:44

I feel like we have been building up to a dance with J&J when they just let go do a romantic/close hold sort of dance. If they can't push themselves in the Rumba I suspect they wont manage it at all.

StucklnAMuumuuCantGetOutOflt · 02/11/2021 17:54

I hope they smash it because I really don't want them to be bottom two or out on a bad rumba/hard for men to do the rumba narrative OR the other interpretation...that the GBP cannot take a same-sex rumba/intimacy between men/anything romantic/homoerotic.
It could be that they are just crap, as many rumbas can be and would be a shame for it to be misconstrued as homophobic middle England. So I do hope - because the song is gorgeous and could be interpreted beautifully - that John can be trained like Kelvin was, to move gracefully/sinuously in spite of his muscles.

JacquelineCarlyle · 02/11/2021 17:57

That's a good point @StucklnAMuumuuCantGetOutOflt - Oti managed to train Kelvin to use his muscles for good in dance so hopefully Johannes can do the same with John (sadly I doubt it as he's not a patch on Oti, but here's hoping I'm wrong!)

Runningupthecurtains · 02/11/2021 18:01

@RockLobstersAndHauntedGymsIsIt

Thanks for the links - I have to say I thought I wasn't familiar with most of this week's tracks when looking at the list but most of then ring a vauge bell on hearing them. Shape of my Heart is one of my favourite songs so I hope they manage a lovely tender rumba to do it justice but good rumbas on Strictly are rare beasts so I'm trying to manage my expectations.

StucklnAMuumuuCantGetOutOflt · 02/11/2021 18:03

Monkseal on this: ''Very ready for a week of "it's very difficult for MEN to RUMBA" squared to the power of gay''

He also posted this beauty on Sara's music for week six:
9 to 5 is also coincidentally what happens to Sara's scores when she's not on ballroom

His response to this:

''And that's why you never shag a haunted painting'' Grin

Incidentally, that routine cracked me up as Gorks was camping it up so much I refuse to believe he had any interest in Queen Nadiya whatsoever.

Faevern · 02/11/2021 18:08

I think that song is very fast for Rose.

But J&J song is very apt, I hope they smoulder, I’m hoping for tingles too.

Faevern · 02/11/2021 18:12

Johannes did a good rumba the series before last and maybe he can rope Oti in for a lesson on loosening up muscle bound men, as she’s out.

Well that’s probably why he dragged Kai in at the end…

just watched ITT whilst cooking... looks like we might be getting the Rumba we would like from J&J this week.. they said its slow, intimate and there will probably be complaints!

chillied · 02/11/2021 20:37

I miss Monkseal's blogs about strictly but still always check his Twitter.

However I've found this new strictly recap blog, really good : ariadnereviews.com/2021/11/01/strictly-2021-halloween-week-main-show-a-lobster-working-in-a-cocktail-bar/

coastergirl · 02/11/2021 21:31

@RockLobstersAndHauntedGymsIsIt thank you! I was going to go and look up all the songs, but you did it. I'm really looking forward to this week.

Bobholll · 02/11/2021 21:51

Ohhh what a tune for J&J. A real favourite.

I’m trying to keep my expectations neutral but god do I hope it’s good 🙈

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/11/2021 22:57

Austin's wasn't bad, and he was very muscly.

I won't mention some of the other muscly men who've done rumbas though. Grin

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/11/2021 08:22

I'm hoping that the J&J rumba is memorable for all the right reasons. It could be spectacular.

ppeatfruit · 03/11/2021 09:00

John said on ITT that for the first time the rumba made him cry, so that's either a good sign or not Grin

Kristina Rihinoff (sp.) was quite good but I miss Flavia.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/11/2021 09:05

It was nice to see the clips of Kristina especially with Jason Donovan. I loved him! Her heels were so high I was quite impressed when she demonstrated the jive action in them without toppling over!

CaveMum · 03/11/2021 10:15

Kristina had the most beautiful feet (as a dancer, I’m not commenting on her pedicure!), my teacher was always commenting on how well she used them.

JacquelineCarlyle · 03/11/2021 12:56

Please no more tears - they drive me crazy!
MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/11/2021 13:01

Nobody will ever out-cry Ore!

JacquelineCarlyle · 03/11/2021 13:49

I wasn't a fan of his either! I'm not interested in seeing people cry over Strictly at all - makes me dislike their self indulgence (although appreciate I'm probably harsh in that view!)

Clawdy · 03/11/2021 13:54

Oh, I loved Ore! I was so thrilled when he won. Nobody in this series has that effect on me sadly.
