The Dr said Factitious Disorder ( prev Munchausen Syndrome)

WomanStanleyWoman · 02/12/2021 21:03

Ah, I was wondering ‘What’s the difference between that and Münchausen syndrome?’ Thank you Smile

Why was Bernie immediately suspicious when Grace said Glory was at a friend’s house? All she’d told Bernie was that she was with a babysitter - you’d just assume the friend was babysitting at her own house.

I did enjoy Debbie calling Zeedan ‘Haircut 100’ Grin But my favourite moment was Jenny telling the incredibly dull footballer ‘I’m having a chippy tea and it ent even Friday!’ GrinGrin

Bernie has has a personality transplant. She wasn't a good mother to her twins, and probably had a feeling in her waters.
She has changed from a bad person to a dispenser of wisdom along with barms, and a social observer.

Clawdy · 03/12/2021 08:35

Yes, they're changing Bernie into a salt-of-the-earth Northern mum.

Akire · 03/12/2021 08:41

Bernie did grow up on sink estates she knows what the crack is. Who can afford endless upteenth babysitters when you have no job? Not like other parents be falling over themselves to do it. She doesn’t appear to have many friends given she’s drinking with old grandma Bernie on a weekday afternoon.

WomanStanleyWoman · 03/12/2021 09:11

@Clawdy

Yes, they're changing Bernie into a salt-of-the-earth Northern mum.
It’s a bit of a trope in soap opera - the careworn, slightly cynical but good-hearted older woman who didn’t do a great job with her own kids, but becomes a trusted, worldly-wise figure for other younger people when she’s older. Pat Butcher of EastEnders is the obvious example. Similarly, you get the ‘flighty piece’ young mum who makes up for her mistakes with her own children by becoming a caring but no-nonsense grandmother (Audrey Roberts, Diane Sugden).

We should be doing media studies degrees.

Optimist1 · 03/12/2021 10:32

@eggandonion

We should be doing media studies degrees.
First class honours all round, I reckon!
Roussette · 03/12/2021 11:18

And Elsie Tanner, let's not forget her, although she never really morphed into wise grandma.

I'm not sure I can cope with Emma/Curtis fall out. It's just so predictable.

crunchypeanutbutterontoast · 03/12/2021 11:59

I don’t really understand Grace’s character. If she used to be a nanny - surely she understands the basics of looking after her own child.

Akire · 03/12/2021 12:17

I thought she stole nanny child and pretended was hers because she was so devastated about losing own baby. Now she actually has one doesn’t really care? Or was it just to get Michael back and since he just wants to co parent no Need?

crunchypeanutbutterontoast · 03/12/2021 12:48

She didn’t even seem that into Michael at the beginning! V odd. Maybe it would be best all round if she went to her Aunt’s house in Hull!

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 03/12/2021 13:05

The whole grace story has never made sense from the start. When he first saw her she tried to get away from him, didn’t want to see him, next thing she is saying the girl is his baby. Makes no sense, why make that up if you don’t want anything to do with someone? Anyway she goes to prison, comes out pregnant with a lovely personality, moves in with the aggies, all is good, couple months later she is a nasty spiteful alcoholic leaving her baby alone at home to drink during the day in the street.

Hmm

Once again, I’m not convinced Corrie writers have ever met actual people.

Yes she was a right so and so, but TE sofa storyline was really stupid.

Grace has such a bad attitude

eggandonion · 03/12/2021 15:41

I ignored the sofa, i missed the start of it and couldn't be bothered catching up.

WomanStanleyWoman · 03/12/2021 16:45

In summary, @eggandonion:

Grace complained her furniture was shit and demanded a new sofa. Aggie made that face she does, like her dentures have slipped again and she’s pissed off that she can’t afford a bridge, but bought a new sofa anyway. Grace bitched to Bernie in the pub about Aggie, and when Bernie said she wanted the do ‘summat nice for our Gemini an Ches’, Grace hit upon the idea of flogging her the sofa. Aggie immediately recognised it when it was delivered, despite it being a dark green velvet number you see in every home magazine going. To be sure, Aggie rang the shop and they assured her it was a ‘one of a kind’ ex-display model (so quite why they were displaying it given they had no others to sell is anyone’s guess).

Lol and it looked smaller and much more uncomfortable than the one they already had.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 03/12/2021 16:55

I loved how Bernie was thinking of doing something nice for Gemma and chesney- like getting them tattoos! Grin

Magicalwoodlands · 03/12/2021 17:04

Grace reminds me a bit of how Tracey used to be.

eggandonion · 03/12/2021 18:22

Im glad i ignored that. But it also reminds me that the man who tries to sell carpets at the door hasnt called recently.

Roussette · 03/12/2021 19:00

I missed carpetman!

I really am not paying enough attention!

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 03/12/2021 19:40

Why are summer, Amy and max all in the same class?

Akire · 03/12/2021 19:40

What the !! Has Yasmine not learnt any boundaries with men? Here she is giving keys to a man she doesn’t know. Come
On Yas!

ChildOfFriday · 03/12/2021 19:46

@MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry I think they are in different years but we're just in the same classroom as it was lunchtime and they were preparing for this Ice Ball thing.
