It was a bit miserable wasn't it? Hopefully the results show probdance will be more fun!

I don’t appreciate the blatant sob story attempt to get votes.

Same here.

Personally I wouldn't want any painful private information made known nationwide.

I also agree re: Judi's size. There have been big women on Strictly before (Lisa Riley springs immediately to mind), but I can't think of any of them being so heavy on their feet.

I was also put off her because of Loose women - but like aPP I found her less objectionable on Blankety-Blank.

I want rid of her, Dan and Tilly.

Bobholll · 18/10/2021 21:24

I’ll take a sob story in couples choice. Or rather a story behind their choice. It’s a more personal dance & dance should have meaning. But I don’t need one for a Waltz. Just dance please.

I like Judi more than I thought I would actually but it’s a sad fact that being overweight just doesn’t work very well in dance where you are expected to be light on your feet, lifted & quick. Even having big boobs strikes me as a hindrance 🙈

ShirleyPhallus · 18/10/2021 21:57

I’m not a fan of Judi and think she was deservedly in the dance off (possibly Dan Walker too).
I’m afraid she is just too large to look good on the dance floor - it’s an aesthetic thing.
Yes she can wiggle her substantial arse until the cows come home but it just doesn’t look good, especially next to a professional dancer.

God I’m the first one to have a pop at a celeb for some crap routine but this is just plain nasty. No need to describe her that way.

It’s perfectly fine for bigger dancers to be on the competition. They will definitely suffer in terms of not being able to hold their frame in the same way or be as stamina, but I’d far rather watch someone with the energy and personality of Lisa Riley than someone who is wooden like Judi Murray.

But to describe someone as you have done is hideous really

whatnumber · 18/10/2021 22:38

I really enjoy seeing celebs on strictly that reflect the shape and sizes of real life people. It would be a tad boring if they were all 20 something skinning/muscle gorgeous things!

bethabean · 18/10/2021 22:41

@Bobholll

That is really nasty

JacquelineCarlyle · 18/10/2021 22:56

I love that Judi is bigger and whilst she's not the best dancer, she seems like she's doing a good job to me and she does seem light on her feet. I appreciate I've no clue about dancing per se, but I enjoy what I enjoy and I enjoy watching her (and I would give her a vote if we got 4 instead of 3, but will continue to give my 3 to Rose, AJ and Adam as I want those guys in the final).

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/10/2021 23:57

I seem to recall Lisa Reilly dancing with Robin Windsor pre weight loss being very lightfooted 🤔

Wingedharpy · 19/10/2021 00:41

Big boobs don't seem to have held Oti back one jot!

As an ample bosomed woman myself, I'd love to know how Oti's bosom defies gravity.
She gets flung around, turned upside down and yet they still stay encased in whatever scaffolding they are encased in.
Oti should bring out her own range of bras for the more voluptuous among us.

Agree with pp, Lisa Reilly was remarkably light of foot.

Wingedharpy · 19/10/2021 01:03

And, my theory re: Tilly - the judges clearly want Gordon to do the buffet for the wrap partyWink

You could be right there, Winged- although, personally, I’d say they’re better off with M&S

Agree Lisa Reilly was actually a great dancer I think, I'm no expert but I loved watching her.
Fenelladepompom · 19/10/2021 08:22

Why do the shoes make so much difference? I remember Pamela Steohenson hurtling her ankle and having to wear a lower heeled ballroom shoe and it changed her dancing so much for me, and for the worse. So clumpy. I hadn't realised it would make so difference. Same for Judi.

SoupDragon · 19/10/2021 08:38

I suppose it's the same as the way you walk differently in heels compared to flats. It changes your posture.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/10/2021 08:47

Yes, they move your weight forward and tilt your pelvis.

Lisa was fabulous & loved the way she took the judges by surprise.
SoupDragon · 19/10/2021 08:58

I turn from cart horse to elegant thoroughbred if I put heels on 😂

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2021 09:00

Fenella Shoes make an enormous difference to the dahnce dahling, Think of the difference between the scaffolded pointe ballet shoe and bare feet The type of dance you can do is soo different (unless you're a really gifted person).

There was an interesting section on ITT with Janette showing how the pros. literrally "breakdown" their shoes to make them comfortable to dance in, I don't know if they show the contestants how to do it, it must be hell to dance even in normal 'proper' heeled shoes if you've lived in trainers all your life.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/10/2021 10:04

I didn't find the heels too bad, although I'd done a lot of ballet, so compared to pointe shoes they were really comfy!

I had blisters on my little toes for months though. I used to have to wrap them in Micropore before lessons and practices.

There are loads of tricks you can do with your shoes - I've seen people take stanley knives to the soles to rough them up and prevent slippage, and also stand in puddles of coca cola (other fizzy drinks are available!) to try to make them more sticky. I've got a metal "brush" for scuffing mine up.

The thing that surprised me when I got my first shoes is how the soles are just made of fabric and suede. There is no rigidity in them at all to allow the foot to fully flex. I've got four pairs of dance shoes: latin heels; ballroom shoes; "teaching" shoes which are basically like men's lace up shoes but with more of a heel; and "salsa" shoes which are much more rigid, made of leather rather than fabric, and with a wider heel.

I remember my teacher telling me that you could tell a good ballroom dancer by how scuffed the top of the toes of their shoes are!

Fenelladepompom · 19/10/2021 11:03

IIRC, Lisa Reily wore nirmsl height heels.

Interesting thought!

I'm sure I remember Ranvir last year complaining about the pain from the shoes when she was on GMB!

BonnesVacances · 19/10/2021 11:15

I think Karen and Greg got along fine. She's just not all over him like the other pairings, probably out of respect for their personal space and own wishes. She was the same with Chris Ramsay too, who clearly wasn't comfortable draping himself all over a woman who wasn't his wife.

I've noticed Karen has calmed down a lot now she's not with KFG anymore. Maybe being in a relationship outside of the dancing world has given her a different insight. She just seems professional and respectful to me. I like her much more now and KFG was definitely punching above his weight there!

Bobholll · 19/10/2021 12:21

I don’t think it’s that nasty really to say larger woman aren’t going to be the best at SCD. Be whatever size you like & rock it. Hell, I love food & certainly have no desire to be super skinny. I think Judi is great & I love her confidence. I’m honestly the most pro-love yourself, love your body person you’ll meet. For me, the most important thing is being healthy. Eat well, enjoy food, be active & look after your mind.

But there is a reason professional dancers aren’t overweight. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And professional athletes. It just doesn’t really work. I personally don’t see Judi being very light on her feet, her Charleston was so stompy & low energy! And in reality, can Gratz lift her like Adam flung Katya around in the AT? I mean no.. probably not. That’s just a fact, no malice behind it at all.

Judis boobs are twice the size of Oti’s! I’m jealous. I have zero boobs.. please share the wealth 😂

CaveMum · 19/10/2021 12:44

I commented on Oti's impressive scaffolding on another thread and someone pointed me the way of this article www.bravissimo.com/otis-active-edit/

But that ain’t what some people have said, the comments were a lot more rude and scathing.

I think it’s nice to show a cross section of society - ages, races, sexes, sizes etc. I think it’s nice to show larger women that they CAN dance - they might not be the winners always but it’s pretty inspiring to show everyone that there is someone like them.

Don’t think it’s necessary to say things like “shaking her sizeable arse” or whatever it was the poster said
