Letherbridge is the only Soap location I would love to live in. Posh houses, medical care on tap, and no sinkholes or gangland murders.

I really enjoyed today's episode. Nice to see Luca actually being a decent nurse, because he is that, rather than all the box ticking stuff he does. I also thought Keith telling Al that he often fell for straight guys because it was safer and more comfortable than attempting a romantic relationship was interesting, I think I have heard that before. Looks like tomorrow may have us finding out why Makeda didn't have her sigmoidoscopy - an incredibly rude nurse, who is quite likely to be racist. It's really nice to see Zara being so kind to Bear too

small there have been a couple of half decent episodes, not so preachy, some reasonable acting. Maybe the summer temps have gone back to college? .

I enjoyed that but wasn't sure if Kai really was her son (grandson? was only half watching) or some sort of imposter (cuckooing, as @LIZS suggested).

Good to see Makeda conscious again tomorrow and I like seeing such a sensitive side to Bear. Al is handling a delicate situation very well too, he can be so kind and perceptive and yet other times he's portrayed as a complete arse. Same with Zara. What's going on, everyone's being lovely.

I do definitely see a difference in the writing and direction (but am not observant/geeky enough to actually look at the credits for that information!!) so whatever change it is, I welcome it! I am also a little bit confused as to whether Kai was actually her grandson or not. She seemed compos mentis enough to know that she had family and she called the police but she did have dementia so it may be that he looked like her grandson? I really like the way Al and Zara are written, they are such well rounded and believable characters. I love how Zara is this scary cut glass accented woman but has a soft heart which will occasionally come out for Joe and her patients, even more occasionally for Emma and Daniel. Al is great because sometimes he's a total wally and then he's as you said ExcessivelyDisorganised kind and perceptive.

Oh and don't forget that Letherbridge is world renowned for its gangster clowns.
