I was busy Saturday evening so I recorded Strictly and watched the first half of it after the show. Fell asleep at some point so I watched the second half last night with DD. For some reason I completely forgot about the results show but DD had already seen it. There are so many dancers atm that I scribbled down a quick note after each performance (DD was slagging me - said I was like Jenny from Gogglebox watching 'Line of Duty'). I also noted Craig's points for each performance. DD had already watched the results show so she challenged me to predict which celebs made it into the dance off and which of the two went out. I successfully predicted both . This was based mostly on Craig's score rather than any dance know how on my part.
Some random thoughts.
Although I usually rate Craig as a judge, I agree that his scoring was very low for some of the performers. On the other hand, he gave Judi 6! I wonder if he was a bit bored at that point and her performance livened things up for him?
Adam's trousers were disappearing right into his arse! Looked so uncomfortable. I kept expecting him to stop the dance to try to pull them out. He was also mouthing the words which was a bit off-putting.
Obviously I was sad to hear of Greg's sister's untimely death from breast cancer but I don't think he should have dedicated his performance to her. Made it very difficult for the judges to objectively criticise his performance. Although Craig wasn't swayed and gave it a 3 .
There was a point in Rose and Giovanni's dance where she ended up sitting on his shoulders and her crotch was in his face
. I'm no prude but it was uncomfortable to watch. Is this normal in ballroom dancing? If I was the celeb, I would be way out of my comfort zone. And if I felt uncomfortable watching it, I can only imagine how Giovanni's partner must feel. I'm not sure if Rose has a DH/partner but don't imagine they'd be too thrilled either.
Glad to see some of the celebs improving on their previous performances e.g. Sara, Ugo and Tilly. It's hard for the first celeb who gets eliminated because they weren't given the opportunity to improve and master other dances. But of course, someone has to be first out and there are so many celebs at the beginning that it's hard to keep track of them all. As the celebs get whittled down, you feel you get to 'know' them better (in so far as you can know a celebrity based on a TV appearance) and it's lovely to see some of them make real progress and start to shine.
Can't wait for movie week and DD will be with me this weekend so we can watch it together
. I can understand why those of you who know your onions don't like it - you feel like the props and costumes are a distraction from the main event i.e. the dancers' performances. But for me it adds colour to the show and it can be fun watching the celeb dress up as a cartoon character or something - even more so if the celeb is a stuffy politician who would normally wear a suit and tie. And it's only one week out of the whole series.
