Agreed @Runningupthecurtains, not sure why they’ve given Rosie two latin routines in the first 2 weeks. My cynical head might say it’s because it’s “easier” to count the beats/rhythms (salsa is as easy as you can get!) and they want to keep her in to wave their inclusive credentials.

Don’t get me wrong, she’s a good dancer but I wouldn’t describe her as being particularly high profile in the public eye so probably doesn’t have a big fan base to call upon to vote.

I was guessing it was easier for her to "feel" the vibrations/ beat of the Latin music but plenty of able-bodied celebs have dodged a style in the opening weeks in the past and I don't like it! We've seen lots of awkward, early Latin over the years and it seems so unfair that some couples avoid it for a few weeks.
FuzzyPuffling · 03/10/2021 11:42

The Claudia bit is "toilet time". Otherwise, in a show that length, we'd all be in trouble.

Bluetitsfly · 03/10/2021 11:53

The Claudia bit is toilet. Full stop.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/10/2021 11:56

I think ballroom will be quite a different skill for her as well — in the jive she started at the beginning and counted through the blocks of eight, matching the beats.

In ballroom she'll have to learn to follow Gio for when to move and stop. You can just dance a waltz 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2&3, 123, but it can look a bit stilted if you hit every beat dead on. Foxtrot is even worse for that.

@Clawdy

Can't stand Gordon R, and certainly don't want to see him feigning tears in the audience each week. Think quite a lot of people dislike him!
Do you honestly think GR would fake cry? That's just ridiculous imo. And I think some people are silly enough to believe his kitchen nightmare persona. He comes across as a normal, matter of fact but caring guy to me and I'd say he is more liked than disliked.
JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 03/10/2021 12:28

Re Katie, I think I view her as like a 4yr old bratty child...I don't know why! But last night when she got her judges comments she put out her lip the way toddlers do before they cry.
She just seems immature and if she were to kick off I just imagine a wee girl slamming doors and stomping feet and cutting her Barbie's hair

But I appreciate that's a weird thing to think about someone 🤣

lollipoprainbow · 03/10/2021 12:35

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend yes that's how I see her too! She looked a bit sulky with the comments, I don't think she will last long.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/10/2021 12:37

I'd probably look sulky if somebody had put me in that outfit!

I agree I'm not sure how long she'll last — she's middling at dancing but I don't know how much of a fan base she has? And she hasn't really done anything yet to make me like her/want to vote for her.

OP posts:
lollipoprainbow · 03/10/2021 12:39

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams yes it was vile ! What were they thinking also the music was atrocious.

Samcro · 03/10/2021 12:40

i thought they kept going to GR to remind people who Tilley is....

StCharlotte · 03/10/2021 12:44

I’m a long time viewer of Strictly, but I am finding it so hard to physically watch without getting vertigo!
It was bad enough when the spinning cameraman runs around the dancing couple, but now the backgrounds are CONSTANTLY moving as well.
The floor moves, the rainbow arch thing moves, there’s a strip around the balcony that moves... All in opposing directions.
My eyes and brain can’t deal with it all, I just want to see the dance. 😢

This is so true! I had to cling on to the sofa at one point.

I'm also finding the female vocalists quite distracting these days. And the costumes are awful now. Not just the designs, but the actual quality. I'm guessing the costume budget has been slashed but I can't think of any memorable (in a good way) dresses in recent years. I think Katie Derham's tango dress is the last one I can remember. And the dresses for the larger ladies - especially those with bigger busts - need to he constructed, not just made. The top of Tilly's charleston dress was shocking and Oti looked like she had a pillow stuck to the front of her.

ANYWAY... I voted for Sara because her "simple" foxtrot was beautiful and she danced to our wedding song Smile

evilharpy · 03/10/2021 12:48

Anton is a fabulous judge. His comments are constructive and useful and he just comes across as being lovely.

I've seen the spoiler, not sure I agree with the outcome.

lollipoprainbow · 03/10/2021 12:49

@StCharlotte agree about the dresses, I didn't like the big tummy panel on Sara's dress it looked like it had been put together with scraps of material! Not very flattering.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/10/2021 12:53

Shh, we're telly pace only and we don't like hints!

To be honest, I'd happily get rid of three or four (and I've probably forgotten that many!) to get it down to a manageable number. Grin

Gordon R is "normal, matter of fact and caring"? ? Try telling that to the young kitchen staff he's bullied and sworn at over the years, a nightmare to work with. Jay Rayner described him as a "sad, inadequate man" after witnessing his abusive behaviour.

And her back boobs were ridiculous - so unfair to have all those costume and make up people and yet they send her out like that. She's not fat in the slightest and yet they managed to make her look so fat and frumpy.

Don't worry, my lips are sealed! I just can't be bothered watching the results show.
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/10/2021 13:23

Fair enough! Glitterball I still usually watch, but if all the pro dances are as stage-y as they have been recently, I'll be less keen.

I liked the old style where it was "all together for the beginning, all together for the end and in the middle take it in turns to do a bit of your jive/quickstep/cha cha choreography".

Greg's story about his sister really resonated with me. I lost my lovely sister Clare five years ago to blasted cancer. She was a disco diva and an avid strictly fan. I was a blubbering mess watching him last night.

iklboo · 03/10/2021 14:14

Does anyone else find the bit with Claudia after the dance really boring ! She says such banal things and I'm not interested in seeing friends and family at home watching !!

They've got to give the poor bloody floor crew time to Hoover up all the glitter & confetti, I think. I hope they're on a good butty for it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/10/2021 14:24

Those complaining about the Clauditorium have clearly mindwiped The Tess Years

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/10/2021 14:30

Also, I know we all hate the Daily Mail, but Sophie Ellis Bextor is in there today saying about the damage Strictly did her marriage even though there was no affair.

Husband found it unsettling, she lost focus, etc etc and they ended up in marriage counselling.

Very similar to what Louise Redknapp has said that its this big experience that throws you out of your norm and so you start to feel your norm is no longer enough 🤔

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 03/10/2021 14:50

And for any person that dislikes him there's one that does. Here's three examples. www.quora.com/Is-Gordon-Ramsay-a-jerk-in-real-life people who've worked with him. I imagine anyone who made a stupid mistake in the kitchen that could jeapordise his business and the public eating food, yeh you'd be pissed with. I Think you need to see some stuff where he is actually willing people to do well. You've been duped I'm afraid of you think the opposite

Actually to the PP who mentioned having a "break", if I've just watched a mediocre performance I know that the judging / Clauditorium (I like what you did there Grin) / scores / next act preamble is enough time to make a cuppa and fit in a quick wee and a fag.
