I wonder if Frank Spencer is his real name or a nickname. In the military it’s common for people with the same surname as a famous person to be called by the same first name as well.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/09/2021 22:38

Matt really has the full package doesn't he? 🤣🤣🤣

Mind you if that is his wallet up there, Feargal will have a swankier retreat than he was planning on…

I should imagine that could summon up some ecstatic dancing alone.

Good lord - somethings should be kept private, and that’s definitely one of them.

ANameChangeAgain · 25/09/2021 23:51

I agree re Marylise & Frankie. I think she has the real power in that relationship. He adores her and the feeling is mutual, but she is tough enough I think to walk away if she thinks its not going to work. She pulls him in line if he tries to go too alpha, and I think its a good dynamic.
Did anyone else pick up on Luke's strange chat with the Ixpert? The ixpert basically listed all the reasons Luke is good for Morag as a reason for him sticking with her, but what about what's good for him? He was obviously there to fix her, which is very unfair.

😂 I can’t even bring myself to click on the link but this cracked me up 👌🏻 I think I took your earlier comment re marylise the wrong way, thank you for clarifying what you meant for me, I hope I didn’t come across too sharp!! I’m just baffled anyone sees any good in franky at all. Human perception is such a funny thing, particularly when you think we’ve all seen the same footage. Agreed re Luke @ANameChangeAgain why is he there purely to fix her?? I’m not an avid Luke fan, he’s just too spineless for me, but foghorn moghorn brings the sum total of nothing positive to the table. Just a drinking problem and a laugh that makes me want to rip my ears off.
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 26/09/2021 08:36

Click it @Ughmaybenot - I dare you!

🤣

I’m a bit of a soft touch sometimes. I try to see good in folk until they just give me no other option. Maybe because I’ve spent a lot of time with folk like him I can see by it?

Och I don’t know. But you are right in that perception is an odd old thing - I love that we all see different things. Even if I’m in the minority!

No - not too sharp at all. I often don’t articulate what I mean well and I was worried that you’d thought it was ok to put up with if you are strong. 🥺

Plus we are amongst friends here I think and it is good to be able to be told you’ve bodged. I bodge a lot.

Foghorn moghorn though 😂

Now click the ecstatic linky. Your Sunday will be better for it. 😉

I’m a cynical old bastard so there we differ 😂
I find myself inexplicably drawn to the link… like sleeping beauty and the spinning wheel… and look where that got her 👀

Yeah that was definitely a leap of faith!
thanks be to God that the fabric covereth and the leap diminishedeth

meadowbleu · 26/09/2021 09:59

Just mulling it over, is Luke really going to be 'spineless' as said above, when he trained as a firefighter and is the manager of a care home?
It may be that he's a genuinely nice guy and has a really good check on himself while he's on the programme so he doesn't say or do anything that would jeopardise his job. Both his occupations would need a cool head and control of your emotions etc. which is a very sharp contrast to some of the other cast members.

I’m dying 😂 I wish I trusted anything at all to the same degree as he trusted his purple tabard!

I don’t know @meadowbleu I think it’s possible he’s conscious of an effect that this ‘experiment’ may have on his job, but he could always leave? He’s being treated appallingly by ole mogaroo. I do think someone can be perfectly suited to, for example, a fireman’s role and yet be a walkover at home. Someone who does a complete 180 on kids because someone slept with him once or twice (with the aid of plenty of wine) despite it being very clear he’s always wanted kids is someone I certainly couldn’t describe as anything other than a bit bloody wet.
Maybe I’m being mean…

Twitchynose · 26/09/2021 11:47

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

not that much of an arse

I did say a few threads back that I thought he was a bit of an arse/product of his environment but that Jord was the one that made me shrink away.

I’m still standing by that. 🤫

It says he suppprts LUFCqueef so mebbes so….

I could tell that that story was from a while back before I even checked the date, Franky had a smooth forehead!

I don’t believe that anyone is 100% bad/abusive/dodgy. I’m sure Franky has lots of positives about him, it’s very easy watching these programmes to cast someone in a pantomime villain role, ignoring all everything else.

I suspect Tayah’s lack of plans about getting a job when she moves to Doncaster are directly aligned to her plan of getting pregnant ASAP.

I can’t unsee that video of Matt “dancing”, I spent the entire time willing gravity to keep his tabard lower than his tackle!

meadowbleu · 26/09/2021 12:12

@Ughmaybenot points taken.

I think I come more from the point of view that I'm really cynical about what the programme makers choose to show us and that it's not a fair representation. You could well be right about Luke and the not wanting children, on the other hand, it could be that he'd been isolated from his family and his roots and Morag was drip, drip, drip feeding into his mind, until he bought the idea, but when he got back home and vocalised it, he later realised what he'd said and how ridiculous it was. It certainly made for a Shock moment on the show. Who knows really, except that the viewers are definitely manipulated.

I have seen an article online saying that Luke counselled Bob during the process and advised him to leave, so it's not as though he's unaware. Although, of course, truth be told, it's absolutely the case that it's far easier to see the flaws in other people's relationships, than it is to analyse our own, apply that and on top, the whole premise of the show and there we have all the anomalies.

Ughmaybenot · 26/09/2021 13:26

All very good points. It’s very interesting how the producers choose to show the different ‘characters’… there never really was anything truly authentic about reality tv as, of course, they always know they’re being filmed, but it does feel somewhat like they are taking the angles and editing a little too far.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 26/09/2021 13:56

If they are making merry with the footage and playing fast and loose with people - actual real live people - then the shame is theirs.

And that sort of shit is way too real for people to deal with when they are attacked on soshul meja or some muppet down the boozer.

I'm confused re the lottery win, as the family won it when she was 15, so it doesn't totally explain why she'd have a massive house, unless they spent the win wisely so that they'd all be set for life.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 26/09/2021 14:14

@spanishfly I think they have spent wisely because the mother was saying she never wants to be poor again

However, since it was only 2.5 mil and it sounds like it was dishes around a few of them...it really wouldn't have gone far. But probably far enough for a good deposit I suppose

Maybe the mother split it between herself and her children and gave them their share when they turned 18 or 21 or whatever? I imagine she would have wanted them to be provided for.
Egghead68 · 26/09/2021 14:56

I think you get a lot of house for your money in East Yorkshire too.

£2.5m would have gone a lot further 15-20 years ago.

I saw that Marilyse refers to herself as Maz on Instagram. I'd assumed that was an annoying thing Franky was doing to belittle her. Assumptions can be dangerous.

MacMahon · 26/09/2021 18:29

(I remember an ex-squaddie boyfriend telling me that they used to do that to their mates condoms when posted out in Belize!!!)

That’s fucking horrible.

Twitchynose · 26/09/2021 20:20

@MacMahon Yep, grim. I think large quantities of alcohol may have been involved. Obviously he claimed HE didn’t do it. He did show me an interesting scar in his foot where they pulled a worm or something out of it whilst he was there though (I have no idea why I’m telling you that!) He also gave me a ballpoint pen as a covert defensive weapon before we went for a walk in a very rural area and instructed me where to stab someone in the neck with it (sever the main artery if I remember correctly).

I’d like to point out that I was young and naive at that point and my taste in men has improved since then. I’m just older and more cynical now, still haven’t managed to find a suitable bloke!
