MAFSaus is worth watching imo. It’s got the right amount of drama.

The Perth twins and Andrew were awful. Until you met Jessika & Martha.

MAFS AUS was better at the fakedrama but it dragged on waaay too long. I skipped through a lot of the repetition and boring bits.

Will watch this next one anyway though obvs!

I saw that Marilyse refers to herself as Maz on Instagram. I'd assumed that was an annoying thing Franky was doing to belittle her. Assumptions can be dangerous.

I don't get scary from him. I get stupid, awkward dad jokes. But then I know someone like him. Comes across very sexist and old skool but has a good heart and does it for the laughs (usually groans)

Yes we've all seen the same footage but some of us were suspicious about the lack of proper one to one clips. Now we're seeing them, it's changing his 'villain' image, just as the editors intended imo.

@OnTheNatureOfDaylight a defensive reaction because every single time they have been in that setting the ixperts have gunned for him. I'm pretty sure there is a LOT we haven't seen.

And I suppose you think anonymous venomous letters are a good idea on a 'arranged marriage' show? What tosh. They got what they wanted. I'd have done the same. If people kept calling you a thief when you know you're not how long would it take before you got annoyed?

@AppleJane did some PP refer to Franky as a wife beater? I thought that referred to the low armhole sleeveless vest top he wore. I'd never heard the term until someone from North America said it, apparently that's what they call those vests. It was a new one on me.

I may have leapt to that assumption though as I'd heard the term and it stuck in my mind as unpleasant.

Eh. I know some people are warming to franky… I am not one of them. I wouldn’t say his image/the impression he makes is changing at all.
I tell you who I am reasonably impressed with tho, and that’s Josh (yep, I’m back to my boy again 😂). Man has the patience of a saint, I’d have snapped back at Amy long before now, I don’t know how he manages to just kind of laugh it off? She’s so nasty, and very quick to be physical when she’s angry.

Remember Franky's wedding vows? 'You can run the house but I'll be the boss everywhere else' (I'm paraphrasing), and his awful, unfunny tumbleweed speech where he showed himself as a sexist pig with attitudes 50 years out of date. Bleurgh.

@meadowbleu yes definitely meant it as a man who beats his wife. I've read all the threads so can't recall which one it's on.

I'm not warming to him. I've called him a prick many times. I just feel like some posters are going too far with the projection. This show is shit but I'm sure they would at least do a background check and where are all the newspaper articles from his exs if he was abusive?

Having a lack of a record means absolutely fuck all tho, especially for controlling or ‘low level’ abuse.
My ex was incredibly abusive, in a lot of ways. I wouldn’t be running to the newspapers if he was on tv now, so again, so I’m not really sure that point counts for a lot either.
Of course it’s projection, you speak as you find in every walk of life. If franky started working where I did, I’d give him a keen swerve. Could the assumptions be wrong? Absolutely, but we have to base opinion on something.
I am interested to see if he and Marilyse are still together. Well, I’m interested in a few of the couples but honestly I’m so on the fence about F & M. Sometimes she seems like she can barely stand to breathe the same air as him and others she seems to actually quite like him, it’s strange.

I was just looking at Heart FM's showbiz pages. They do a lot on MAFS. They have articles on each of the couples, Are X and Y Still Together? but of course, all the articles start off with 'It's not clear' They have been trawling through Instagram for possible clues though.

Somewhere else there's speculation about how much money each of them might make, but it's just based on the number of Instagram followers. It's so shallow. I suppose it's always going to be like that because all the contestants are only portrayed in a single dimension. That's why I liked the swap part, they suddenly seemed to become more rounded and real people.

I truly believe that on the occasion they both sat on the sofa and refused to answer questions was because Marylise didn't want to embarrass her boys and she had asked him to say nothing.

My argument is not that he's not controlling or an arse. But calling him a wife beater is too far. If a contestant constantly ogled the women's tits it would be fine to say 'he's a creep' but not fine to say 'he's a rapist'. That's my line in the sand.

And I still enjoyed reading about Franky's charity work.
