@JasonMomoasgirlfriend

And the "business" just sounds like a gay orgy getaway...:D
yeah, it's definitely got vibes of a wacky OTT "spiritual" place, where they all "connect their minds and bodies" as an excuse for some shagging around Grin
SheldonesqueTheLazyEyedBstard · 23/09/2021 11:56

I have to say - despite his ‘oh his mammy is upset I’m taking her boy away’ shite, there was a steely determination in that jutting jaw.

He has no thought of compromising at all.

He ain’t going to be happy till he has a flower garland on his head and his jewels are flapping in a crisp breeze.

Although jason’s take on it is also quite the possibility…

I’m not sure. There is a coldness to him. I haven’t really noticed it because the producers have been concentrating on anything but them.

Plus they seemed loved up dull so that is when I nipped to make a brew.

@Blossomtoes

I don't really understand your point, tho - you say you wouldn't move to NI as it's fine for a week but not live; but then Dan shouldn't leave NI - so do you think they should just pack it all in and split?

I think if you’re born there it’s quite hard to adjust to living anywhere else because it’s so different. The bloke’s nieces and nephews all went to uni in England and Scotland and went back, none of them even contemplated living anywhere else, despite the more limited career opportunities.

No, I don’t think there’s a compromise and I think a split is inevitable. I also think if they do split up, Matt’s dodged a bullet.

agreed - I'm starting to dislike the coupling, it isn't healthy for either of them, really.

yeah, it's the absolute brick wall when it comes to any sort of suggestion of compromise. The softness is disappearing now that real obstacles are being presented to him them. We kept seeing how happy they were, as that's probably all they (the production) wanted us to see. As I said previously, they already know how Dan and Matt progress/end, and dont want it to be too obvious to us. So they've played along with the happy clappy narrative, and might have a grenade being thrown into it from now on.
meadowbleu · 23/09/2021 12:18

I just checked what Matt and Dan do for actual careers, prior to TV calling. They always call Matt a Take That tribute artist, but he's a senior charity manager. One article says he had a corporate career and then gave that up after his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I'd been wondering what employment opportunities there were for Take That tribute bands in NI. Given his father's health that seems even more of a reason Matt wouldn't be too happy to relocate.

Dan is said to be in holistic sales.

The one thing that did amuse me last night was watching the faces drop as they realised their partner homes weren't very Insta friendly Grin especially the one with the ivory(sic)

batmanladybird · 23/09/2021 12:20

I am playing catch up
It is really annoying me that they don't have enough sofas and someone has always had to perch on an armchair

showmethegin · 23/09/2021 12:31

I heard her say ivory, what was she pointing out, what did she mean? I was so confused!

SheldonesqueTheLazyEyedBstard · 23/09/2021 12:32

It was ivy.

Yes I do think the coupling is irresponsible. They did the same in the Aussie version too. Just can't see the point of matching people who live hundreds of miles away from each other. At least on First Dates they tend to match people who are generally in the same direction. Here they are actually marrying people who live in different countries!

I'm also starting to worry that the experts are looking too gleeful about all of this. There was a touch of a grin when Paul said they were writing anonymous letters to each other and was it Charlene last night who was saying 'oooh now we will see how compromise works when they need to talk about where they will live' knowing full well it was going to cause rows!
@LagneyandCasey

It's "Perfect Match" which is on All4 now from 2001
That's not the one I'm thinking of but it looks good . It was late 80s to mid 90s before I got married. It was one couple and in a documentary style rather than an entertainment show. I think it was looking at arranged marriages in other cultures and exploring what would happen if a white British couple had an arranged marriage.

While looking I came across this one which I remember from 1999. They got married after winning a competition. It didn't last and in a bizarre twist the woman ending up marrying Jeremy Vile.. and that didn't last either.

I'm amazed Morag wasn't moaning more about Luke's house

SpanishFly · 23/09/2021 12:58

Imagine being the kind of person who is driving to your partner's home for the first time, you know you're close by, and you analyse OUT LOUD what you think of the houses in the surrounding streets.

Nogaxeh · 23/09/2021 13:02

I don't have a problem with them matching people who live far away from each other. With online dating that's become a lot more common generally.

It's something that many people are able to negotiate and compromise on, though sometimes it does prove to be insurmountable.

MrsToothyBitch · 23/09/2021 13:02

Morag and her "ivory" cracked me up though!

SnoopyLights · 23/09/2021 13:14

Ivy gin

I have been wondering since last night what the ivory on his house was. I was guessing at Aviary but couldn't see one. I thought I'd missed it because of that giant fence (Amy would hate that fence).

I can't say I noticed any ivy either, so I'm glad you've explained.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 23/09/2021 14:27

Tayah was awful in Adam's house, going around pointing out what she would be changing. Really rude. If I were him I'd be a bit concerned that anyone would have done for her. Didn't she move to Australia for a previous relationship? It seems like she's just keen to settle down and have kids. Who it's with is less important. Just the impression I get. Everything's too perfect with them; it doesn't ring true.

Franky, yep, massive misogynist. He likes Marilyse because she doesn't complain? Is that really the best thing he could have said about her?

And I was very surprised at Luke's about turn re children. That was a deal-breaker at first and now he's okay with it and no longer sees children in his future? Bit of a concern. His mum spoke sense.

UnderCaffeinated · 23/09/2021 14:34

Amy was so incredibly difficult to watch. Josh does appear to be trying and wants to give her what she wants but it always looks like she just keeps moving the goal posts for him.

I do look forward to seeing what Tayah's mum has to say! Her and Adam do seem very loved up (I thought she was an absolute dick about his house, which was very nice for a single bloke!) but I wonder if her Mum will give them some home truths. Tayah is obviously still very hurt by her miscarriage and needs support with getting through that. Having a baby with Adam won't bring back the baby she lost.

Dan and Matt will really struggle if they do anything other than Matt agreeing to move to NI.

Morag and Luke - Yeah that house wasn't great, but it's still nicer than Morag's treatment of Luke. He will never be what she wants no matter how many of his own dreams he gives up or what clothes he wears.

Franky and Marylise - I don't think this is ever going to workout! I think there's a big reason he was single for so long.

Ughmaybenot · 23/09/2021 14:48

Finally caught up!
Who raised these people to think you can walk into someone’s home and be so fucking rude about it?! Sure, you aren’t going to love every single aspect but it’s their home and their taste/choice and you’ve been on the scene for the whole of five minutes! Bonkers
Amy was very hard to watch this episode. She’s so venomous and aggressive, and is so quick to turn physical, the way she shoves and slaps at josh is disgusting. Blaming it on feeling sexually frustrated is nothing short of appalling.
Tayah is crazy, I think Adam is starting to see that now she is in his (very nice thank you very much) home and stamping all over his thoughts and choices.
Dan is a lot harder than previously thought, he is a stubborn little fucker. Thing is tho he has been straight up from day dot that he didn’t want to leave NI, so that’s on the producers matching him with matt, taking the opinion that he will just have to give everything up.
Morag is not only a nasty fucker but she’s also a stupid fucker. Imagine sitting slagging Luke off to his bloody mother 🤦🏼‍♀️ she has her head much more screwed on than I ever thought based on the wedding episode. Luke is honestly crossing that line into pathetic now, saying he doesn’t want kids ffs.

Rummikub · 23/09/2021 14:50

Yes I agree that Luke’s mum spoke sensibly snd was obviously concerned about the change.

It’s probably editing but franky sounded so awkward when talking to
‘The girls’

Ughmaybenot · 23/09/2021 15:00

Definitely!! I’d say it’s because he was keen to put across his point without being misunderstood if I was feeling kind… but I’m not feeling kind, and I just think it was him shoving his ‘correct’ opinion down their throats, and they’d better not question it or else
I did laugh at the ‘are you similar?’ answer to her friends (to paraphrase) ‘absolutely, so similar!’ ‘Lol no’ 😂

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 23/09/2021 15:00

I think he's just that awkward!
Rummikub · 23/09/2021 15:15

Oh god yeah that awkward similar not that similar line - awkward!

Think he did let his true self slip out with the ‘she doesn’t complain’.
I was hoping her friends would see through him trying to assimilate into the group (yes I’m similar..) bit sadly so far not.

He really unnerves me.

HollowTalk · 23/09/2021 15:17

So tonight do they go to the other partners' homes?

Given those guys are single, I think they've done really well to have a house of their own. You can't compare a house one person buys on their own with a house a couple can buy. But ffs wouldn't you think they'd get it ready for a TV crew to visit? That missing toilet seat was ridiculous.

SailYourShips · 23/09/2021 15:33

He did have it ready in its box!
