I've never watched Love Island, but I've read about what's happened to some of the people associated with. Lessons need to be learned. It's a far cry from vilyfying Nasty Nick on the original Big Brother when it was all very innocent and more pantomime.

If they do any aftercare it strikes me as more like cutting someone and then being kind enough to provide a plaster.

I suppose the premise is fundamentally flawed these days by the kind of people who'd subject themselves to the level of scrutiny by the viewers and the lack of expertise or the ulterior motives in the so called ixperts making the matches.

But this is a misconception re Love Island. The tragic things happened to the ex contestants were quite a few years after appearing on the programme, and they were pretty popular contestants. Their families have also said they don't believe LI was a factor. And obviously CF had a very complex mental health battle all her life, and the pressure of the impending court case, losing her LI job, and how she was being vilified by the press were the factors in her case, according to her mum.

Yea that’s what I’m basing it on! I personally think there’s not a huge amount in it, altho fully accept they’re rather different shapes generally.
Anyway, like you say, it’s not really about the women, so my original reply is somewhat by the by!

The questions at the barbecue (FFS, barbecue and beer for the men and afternoon tea and prosecco for the women) were awful. How may people have you slept with? Whose wife would you not want? Childish and disrespectful. Do grown men really like to show off about the number of people they've slept with? I thought it was just 17 year old boys who did that. And talking about the least desirable wife is disgusting. Shame on the producers. And shame on the men for answering.

I miss the good old days of early reality tv. There are so many quirky and interesting people in the world it would be easy to still find some that are not fame hungry. They think we want tits, shits, giggles and fights (and wetting the bed) We don't!!

I agree re Love Island. I think for some of them Love Island has just been a symptom of desperation to be loved/famous. It can be hard when the 5 minutes fades but the same can be said of any 'reality' show. LI contestants do tend to get a lot of online stick while they're in the villa but the deaths of contestants have been years after their appearance. And Caroline's death was certainly nothing to do with it except that it boosted her profile and potentially contributed to how much coverage her fight with her bf got.

God yes. Remember the first BB when they got a jacuzzi and none of them even had a bikini with them. Now they practically live in bikinis!

I think Luke and Tayah are better suited together.

What an anti-climax with Morag's revelation and why does she keep dressing Luke in those hideous short trousers. He looks stupid in them.
Alexis is awful - she should be thanking Meghan for getting her away from Jordan.
I really like Meghan but Bob is a great big baby and I find his constant crying and his awful dress sense a real turn off.

I do wish we had some 'normal' people and by normal I mean not desperate to be on social media/TV. I really liked the early days of MAFSUK with the train guard, accountants, nurses etc.

Alexis, for example, is totally playing up to get camera time. It's tedious!

Ant has gone off Alexis as she's rough, I couldn't see him taking her home to his dad.

As for Josh liking pics of her ... who cares, it was last year, he probably likes/comments on thousands of women's insta/snapchat/whatever - is that the only drama they can come up with!

This thread has had me laughing out loud. I find Franky quite disturbing, but in a lot of ways he's like child and I suspect he could benefit from therapy. He bangs on and on about being more mature: he's older than everyone else. That doesn't make him more mature. Nearly everyone else displays more emotional maturity than Franky.

I feel sorry for Alexis, she really drew the short straw being matched with Jordan and it’s probably affected her self esteem. Now Ant doesn’t seem that into her.
Having said that I don’t think she did herself any favours bringing up the whole kiss thing again and she’s been a hypocrite as she was obviously flirting with Ant before it ended with Jordan.

Ant seems a pretty laid back no drama kind of guy which is why I think he’s gone off Alexis.

When are Morag and Luke going to bring up the kids thing again? It’s ridiculous really as it’s a huge deal breaker so what’s the point in them even continuing with the ‘marriage’. I don’t know why they were matched in the first place if they had opposite views on kids and surely the ‘experts’ would have known their views on kids.

Do you remember when you could press the red button on your tv and watch any camera you wanted?! Those were the days!
