@Simonjt I think they have actually mixed it up a bit. Sometimes Dan is with the girls. Sometimes Matt is. So I'm hoping that the couple themselves are directing the producers regarding not wanting to be labelled as who is the 'wife' and who is the 'husband' Well, I hope so anyway. Christ, it's taken them long enough to even include a Gay couple.

Sheldy they seem to alternate the gay couple between girl and boy groups. Like they aren't quite sure how to play it. I suppose they are trying to split the couples so they can talk to their respective friends. In other words, they weren't sure who was the more (traditionally seen as) masculine and feminine in the couple.
