Any detective programmes suitable for an 11yo?

DD loves a good murder mystery and I thought she might enjoy some programmes. I'm sure I was watching Morse at a similar age.
I rarely watch TV so don't know if there is anything current/more recent that she might enjoy. Nothing too gory or involving sexual assault or similar. I'm thinking along the lines of finding a dead body in an awkward position with a pool of blood next to it. On the other hand, I think things like Murder She Wrote would
be too old fashioned.
We have Netflix & Amazon Prime as well as the usual channels.
Thanks!

Death in Paradise is good for that age.

MotherTruckerr · 12/09/2021 20:20

I was about to say that! There's an ITV one called Shakespeare and something that's not gory

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 12/09/2021 20:22

Definitely death in paradise

Akire · 12/09/2021 20:22

Father brown mystery’s day time TV murdered very nicely! Death in paradise of course, Miss marples Poirot.

Oswin · 12/09/2021 20:23

Father brown and Death in paradise

cheeseismydownfall · 12/09/2021 20:24

Yeah, Death in Paradise is the obvious choice!

Gardenerboo · 12/09/2021 20:24

Shakespeare and Hathaway

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/09/2021 20:26

Would Broadchurch be horribly inappropriate?

purplesequins · 12/09/2021 20:26

shakespeare and hathaway

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/09/2021 20:27

Sorry, just read the OP properly - it probably would be.

lannistunut · 12/09/2021 20:27

Broadchurch was really horrifying Shock

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 12/09/2021 20:29

Endeavour is on right now! My 11 year old is watching it with me.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/09/2021 20:29

I'm really bad at judging what is age appropriate, TBF Grin DH has to approve my family viewing choices.

Dragonfruits · 12/09/2021 20:31

Home Before Dark would be great for that age - it’s on Apple TV though. But it’s about a young girl around your DDs age who is a budding journalist and ends up helping to investigate a cold case in a small town.

Tidypidy · 12/09/2021 20:31

I'd recommend Father Brown too.

Hellocatshome · 12/09/2021 20:32

Vera is never too gruesome or sexual, same for Frost (possibly a bit old-fashioned) would he like Jonathan Creek?

Tlollj · 12/09/2021 20:35

Johnathan creek might be a bit scary?
I am a wuss though.
Death in paradise
Miss marple and poirot although they are killed in quite gruesome ways sometimes.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/09/2021 20:35

I was watching The Sweeney at a little older than that and have survived to tell the tale, but i wouldn't feel able to recommend that!

Poirot and Miss Marple? Particularly the latter.

mogtheexcellent · 12/09/2021 20:36

All on bbc iplayer at the moment

Death in paradise
Mallorca files
The coroner
Shakespeare and hathaway

Good daytime/detective crime series.

I would also try midsomer murders. The deaths are gruesome but mostly inferred.

Then move onto morse etc.

I think it is wise you have delegated Grin
lannistunut · 12/09/2021 20:44

I think Jonathan Creek is a 12, some of those are very non-gory. The one with the gorilla for example.

lannistunut · 12/09/2021 20:44

We'll, a bit gory - but not lots of violence.

PinkBuffalo · 12/09/2021 20:49

I agree father brown is quite a good one as although murders it is quite a gentle program
Also think poirot and miss marple (the older ones like David sachet and hickson not the modern ones which were a lot more graphic) I was watching them when young and reading the books at 13
Also columbo!
Midsummer murders yes but I would be careful on the epidsode maybe
I hope your dd enjoys some of them 🙂

EssaysOfElia · 12/09/2021 20:52

My DD10 loves Shakespeare and Hathaway, The coroner, death in paradise and Diagnosis murder.

Luckypoppy · 12/09/2021 20:53

Definitely Jonathan Creek or some of the older ones like columbo, diagnosis murder and murder she wrote.
