I really don't know what to think after tonight's episode.

Leaving aside for the moment that they changed the format this year, I used to think there was something potentially a bit noble about deciding to make a commitment to a stranger, trusting to the impartial judgement of the experts, and then endeavouring to make a life together.

Now, I'm not so sure. It seems to create a huge amount of pressure on the couples, and I think the natural response for many people in the face of stress is simply to shut down. It's not really that conducive to building a relationship.

I'm beginning to wonder whether the only reason Owen and Michelle made it last year was because the lockdown and the pandemic took the focus off them, and relieved the pressure.

Perhaps, in a strange way, this means that Meghan and Bob might now have the best chance. Their expectations are now at rock bottom, and so the pressure is off.

In general last night’s episode felt awkwardly scripted to the point of turning me off. Can’t bear that sort of thing. If it becomes like that every time I’ll stop watching. I guess it had that element from the start but it’s come out more.

The Ant and Alexis thing had no authenticity at any point. Not the two of them being attracted to each other but the phone call/cafe meeting nonsense.

As of Morag thought of the jar or put a single on of those bits of paper in it! It's the sort of thing you can buy for £9.99 at any number of tatty gift shops in Brighton the natural home of all things woo! Hence the lady who 'sages' people.
I know these things have to be scripted up to a point but at this point this is all so badly done it resembles an improvised GCSE drama project - but with less emotional depth and worse makeup.

I'm really struggling with Morag's behaviour. It is really unacceptable and she has so little self-awareness. Surely it's obvious that Luke's body/bedroom confidence requires acceptance and appreciation from her?
Just as I was feeling frustrated with his lack of potency, he then did the strip with such a good sense of humour and enthusiasm.

It's also difficult to find the nice aspects of Franky's personality. I guess the requirement to be Alpha and perfect in everything comes from a place of insecurity, and we've all experienced that at times?

Could be, it did sound fairly solid. It’s disgraceful, it’s not bloody normal to be chucking things at people, whether they’re irritating you or not!! I have to say, Josh is far more laidback than I thought he might have been on initial impressions. I had thought he might be a bit inclined to be quite inflexible and snappy himself but I thought he was actually impressive last night, didn’t rise at all to any of Amy’s mood swings and wasn’t completely dismissive of her hippy smokey nonsense.

I wondered this. What is the point - is there a "winner" or a prize? Perhaps True Love is the hoped for prize. Or is MAFS a serious experiment (🤣) and not a gameshow?!

Agreed @Monestera !! She has zero in the way of self awareness. She’s just fucking horrible.
Luke actually has flashes of quite a different personality when she’s taking a short break from attacking him, much more jokey and just generally a bit more about him. It’s no wonder at al that this isn’t shown to Eyebrows herself very much given he’s constantly being beaten down.

There’s not a prize as such. The people who take part get exposure for their Instagram and other SM, a chance to become ‘famous’ and maybe find true love. Plus the wedding, honeymoon, apartment etc are all paid for. It’s a reality show, rather than a game show.
