Maybe that’s the experts’ plan. Give people horrible matches, so that when they later meet their real match, they’ll appreciate them more. It’s the only possibly explanation!

Or Knittingupastorm give them some Ch a crap match they will feel forced to swap and it's good telly. A bit shallow!!

Just watched last nights. I miss joining in with the thread but I just need to get some early nights in at the moment.

Franky's demeanour and behaviour was pretty horrifying at times. I do worry for some of the participants that their vision of how they would go down with the public will be so very different to reality.

I’ve just watched this, is it mostly fake/scripted because I just don’t understand how they can be so mismatched? If your sole job is to match people surely things like having children or the country you live in would be some major starting points?

I believe only a few couples are matched with the thought that they could work, and the rest are the "experiment" to see what explosive situations arise, whether that's drama or, more excitingly for the production team, wife swapping.

Franky's got so many red flags! Literally everything he said implied that he was only interested in M because she was beautiful, and that he will be dominant etc. So bizarre. I cannot abide men who think it's a given that they'll get their Nat King on the first night. Esp in this situation, where they've (sort of) just got married and will have weeks together alone to get jiggy with it.

Kinda. She's my cousin's friend so I've only ever really met her on a night out. She really tries to portray the 'mental geordie' persona (even though she's from Durham)

Last night's episode was great TV, if not necessarily great for the couples involved.

Josh looked like he was shitting himself the whole way through and Amy just cracked me up with her higher levels of spirituality and open 3rd eye! Clearly they aren't suited at all.

Franky is currently coming across as a Private Prat. I was so glad Marilyse told him he'd be sleeping on the sofa!!! I'm hoping that he can take off the soldier bravado shit and turn out better than he's coming across at the moment.

I guess for every Mumsnetter watching Franky and thinking he's a misogynistic Peter Pan, there's another Neanderthal thinking he is great. And he will value their opinion more than ours.

Amy and Josh - the ixpert said "an interesting match" - erm...that's not the aim, you're looking for a compatible match!! She's way too broken still to be doing something like this and he's a child. She def transmogrified into Scarlet Moffat on the wedding day, I think the hair and makeup aged her quite a bit too. 26 and 34...she's def going to struggle with this one, I don't think he's anywhere near grown up enough for her.

Trying not to binge on the comments here before I’ve seen the whole thing, but first impressions are:

Josh and Amy - this is ridiculous, anyone who seriously thinks this guy wants to settle down for life right now must be off their rocker. It’s just another waste of time couple, and unfair on her, as despite going on about dick size whenever she gets an opportunity 🙄 and generally being in to a lot of things I have no time for, she seems vulnerable and clearly needs support, not some sham ‘gram wedding and ensuing fireworks.

Franky goes to Dubai and Marylise - I’m interested to watch this one at least. Like many soldiers he seems like he could be carrying a lot of baggage, I hope he calms down a bit. Gender role stuff a bit naf. Marylise is this series’s token lovely woman I think; sincere, loving mother, of an age etc. She would’ve been good to watch on old style MAFS UK (RIP). Franky’s mum’s face was pretty LOL-worthy when he took roughly four seconds to tell her he was marrying a stranger… he certainly is direct, let’s hope it doesn’t spill in to insane despot…

Ooo I’ve not seen it but I am ready for drama! It helps I suppose that I’m not remotely invested in any of these couples, none will last anyway so may as well make it interesting along the way!

The afters show was shocking. It was so bloody frenetic. I really loved the Australian series but this one’s going to have to up its game for me to stick with it.

I too cannot believe these are expertly matched.
I’m wondering if they deliberately pair them up to cause fireworks and make good tv.

Franky is disturbing to watch. He has a very cold, sociopathic demeanor about him.
