Tired of sifting my way through the old thread. Let's chat here about this week's happenings...

OP posts:
bossybritches · 10/12/2007 22:23

Exactly panto- Gethin for runner -up & Alesha for the Cup!

DeePancrisPaneven · 11/12/2007 07:19

and who else thought Cliff Richards looked like a ghoul? When will the BBC learn to not encourage this sort of thing?

I once had the experience of seeing Lenin in his mauseleum in the Kremlin Wall. He had died in 1924, but has been preserved with lotions and prob. a lot of surgery. Cliff reminded me of that particular day. Can't think why.

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 11/12/2007 08:38

Cliff is a sweetheart, but dear me, retirement beckons. Please!

I just can't cope when he dances. There's always an odd leg doing omething odd, and he does all this pointing and tossing his head back. Brings me out in hives.

MerryAnnSinglemas · 11/12/2007 11:04

it's the hair that does it for me (see Paul McCartney) dyed and brushed forward boyishly - no !!!

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 11/12/2007 11:16

Oh, I can't be doing with Macca at all. I keep noticing little gossip columns all about his latest romantic dalliance, and thinking

"Why are you bothering trying to dig for news? Give him a few weeks and he'll be telling you all about his feeeelings for her in gory detail, and he might even release a song and frozen vegetarian meal all about her..."

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 11:39

Suebaroo .
Cliff makes me gringe but, at least this year, he didn't wear leather trousers, he was on Strictly a couple of years ago and he wore leather trousers. I remember this because I am still completely traumatised by the experience.

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 11/12/2007 12:07

Have to agree about Cliff.
The phrase that kept running through my head was 'trying too hard'.
SueB you describe his 'dancing' perfectly!

3JinglesandnoBells · 11/12/2007 12:14

And of course, really being younger and possily therefore physically naturally fit is an advantage, I would think...

Freckle · 11/12/2007 12:33

Don't remember her age being used as an excuse for Louisa Lytton last season. And she is younger than Matt.

3JinglesandnoBells · 11/12/2007 12:37

true

DeePancrisPaneven · 11/12/2007 17:31

I think it was the petulant walk back to the stage steps after losing/forgetting the steps of the piece that did it for me. Left Gorgeous Flavia (the new GF..) stood on her own trying to improvise, whilst he got all schooolboyey and huffed.

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 11/12/2007 17:56

LOL Pan!
Agree, Matt has lost it for me, too.
Sorry to say that Alesha is starting to lose it for me as well ... she doesn't seem to have improved - she has always been good. I guess it depends on whether you vote for the one who has been consistently good or the one who has improved the most.
It is the same situation as we had when it was Darren Gough and Colin Jackson in the final ... then Colin and Erin did that daft show dance and (imho) threw it away. Just goes to show that you never know what is going to happen.

VanillaPumpkin · 11/12/2007 20:57

I thought It takes two was interesting tonight with Vincent choosing Flavia and Matts dance (Samba/Salsa??) as the best and mentioning the excellent chemistry between them .
I thought Alesha and Matt were lovely and her waltz earlier in the show made me cry. None of the others have moved me to tears so although I am now loving Gethin I think perhaps Alesha might get a vote from me. I think her and Matt are very honest and love how well they get on together.

bossybritches · 11/12/2007 21:21

VP I wondered i fanyone else would pick that up??! D'you reckon it's to try & smooth over the reports that they've fallen out or d'you reckon Flavia told him to wind his neck in to boost Matt's confidence!!?

I thought Alesha was lovely in the waltz too, she is sooo gorgeous!! I'm though at the fact they fluffed the last few steps & it was so well covered up!! Totally missed that so good for them. They are having a good time together you can see that it must be such fun for Matt to have such a keen & able partner- tell you what gay or not, in that training video when she had to rub herself against him it made him push her away blushing!!

VanillaPumpkin · 11/12/2007 21:30

Oh yes . I don't think he is gay. Is he really?
I would want Darren or Matt to teach me. I think they are both lovely .

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 21:35

Matt's gay? Wasn't getting that vibe from him but...

VanillaPumpkin · 11/12/2007 21:36

I truly don't think he is gay. And neither is Gethin. So there.

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 21:38

I see , you're a Gethinite.

VanillaPumpkin · 11/12/2007 21:44

I think I just love them all !
Matt Cutler is a fave though. I have no loyalty and change my allegance at the drop of a hat.

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 21:45

I like Matt Cutler, don't know why, just do.

VanillaPumpkin · 11/12/2007 21:48

He just strikes me as good fun and has great facial expressions and laughs alot. I fancy him inspite of his silly hair.

pantoinghousewife · 11/12/2007 21:49

Yes he is quite lovely!

bossybritches · 11/12/2007 21:56

Me too - there's something about him !

Don't like him bottle blonde though he was MUCH more handsomer dark blonde!!!

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 11/12/2007 22:45

Agree that Matthew Cutler is certainly one of the nicer male professionals. If I had to choose I'd go for him or Darren to teach me any day

I think it was very interesting that Vincent chose Matt and Flavia and that he commented on their chemistry was I took it to be him saying that he is confident in his relationship with Flavia and that he knows she and Matt are just dancing together.

I keep forgetting to say that I like the way Flavia sometimes goes for out-of-the-ordinary outfits ... her trousers on Saturday night and the culottes she wore earlier in the serise. Just adds a bit of interest.

I'm intrigued about the order in which the Sunday show is filmed.
Either they do some bits earlier and edit it into order or some of the professionals have to get changed several times which would make it a very long evening. Cliff Richard said that he was going into make up at 4.15 but, if he went to do his bit in the right order, he wouldn't be on until about 4 hours later! I wonder if they film the group/professional dances earlier.
I also wonder if they do it 'as live' or if, as it is recorded, they re-take fluffed lines/dances?
Anyway. Rambling now.

AwayinaMargoNooNooCribForABed · 11/12/2007 23:02

Yes - I wouldn't mind any of them teaching me to dance although I'd be worried that Vincent would get lost in the Margo cleavage considering he's so short.
